FEAR IN THE NIGHT - Jimmy Sangster - "Dynasty Of Fright" (1972)

I'm assuming we're going to run out of material one of these days, but until that day comes, welcome to yet another Saturday Freakin' Night Special in The Dungeon!

"Fear In The Night" was a 1972 Jimmy Sangster - Hammer film that was one of their last together!

Ralph (Horror Of Frankenstein) Bates hangs on from finish to start, because this opening scene is actually the end of the movie!

"Fear In The Night" is mainly a vehicle that showcases the beauty and acting talents of Judy Geeson, whose talents have graced these pages a half dozen times or more, in super-classic titles like "Berserk," "Goodbye Gemini," Doomwatch,"Star Maidens," and "Inseminoid!"

Judy's character is Peggy Heller, and she goes from being terrorized to.....

............Totally demure!

The rest of the talent quotient is incredibly high in "Fear In The Night" ranging from Peter Cushing...

.........To America's favourite bitch of the entire 1980's, the fabulous Joan Collins! How ironic that the U.S. video release was titled "Dynasty Of Fear!"

But the bottom line is that this is Judy's movie!

I'm not even going to try and explain this!

This is one of the best phone shots I've seen in a while!

I'd like to give a big shout out to cinematographer Arthur Grant for this shot! Look at the composition his eye saw just to get the actor framed by that little door! It's like Escher!
Arthur's credits include everything from "Quatermass And The Pit" to "Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed," and almost literally everything in between! "Fear In The Night" was his second to last film! And now you know one of the main reasons why all those Hammer films look so great!

Judy's all twisted up inside!

And Joan is "Twistin' The Night Away!"

Another big thanx to Lord Litter in Berlin for reminding me this movie existed! When your mind is craving music that is always full of surprises, do yourself a favor and check out one of his radio broadcasts! Just trust me on this one! If I wasn't doing this, that's where I'd be! And if you can't make a choice, here's a good place to start!

"Fear In The Night" wasn't exactly an original title! This version of a completely different story came out in 1947, and one of the stars was DeForest Kelley, aka Dr. McCoy of "Star Trek" fame and fortune! "It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack!"

WORLD GONE WILD - "The Future Looks Dim" (1987)

Welcome to Wild World Wednesday down in The Dungeon!

"World Gone Wild" is a 1987 post-apocalyptic tale of greed and survival. It's a story about two men and their followers! Water is a rare commodity in the future, and everybody wants it!

One guy is Ethan, the stoner leader of the people who have the water in a secluded place in the desert called Lost Wells! 100 years in the future, and he still wears a Zig-Zag man button!

The other guy is Adam Ant as Derek, the leader of a bunch of goons dressed all in white who want the water too!

Derek and Ethan don't like each other for obvious reasons!

This is what Derek has for Ethan!

And this is what Ethan has for Derek!!

The story is loosely based on the classic "Seven Samurai," or "The Magnificent Seven," but it is really hard to imagine Bruce Dern as Yul Brynner, or Adam Ant as Eli Wallach! Also, why is there nudity and foul language in a film that is seemingly otherwise geared for a twelve year old! What the heck? It's a "World Gone Wild," and just like "Girls Gone Wild," it was made to make money, not sense. and I'm pretty sure they lost out in both those departments! If you want to watch a good Bruce Dern movie, then go watch one of his old biker movies or "Nebraska" instead, or just sit around and wait for one of the seven projects he's involved with in 2018! (I might just do that myself!)

The HORROR And SCI-FI WORK Of ROBERT CLARKE 1951-60

Today we take a look at the Horror and Sci-Fi Work of Robert Clarke from 1951 to 1960. He ended up with 160 acting credits beginning in 1944 and was 85 years old at the time of his death in 2005. The Dungeon will always be blessed by his presence...

First up is THE MAN FROM PLANET X from 1951. I like to dig this title out every now and then because of its very cool low budget charm! Oh, and check out that paperback cover I substituted for the poster, a Fawcett Movie Comic, how awesome is that?!

In 1955 Robert appeared in an episode of SCIENCE FICTION THEATRE titled "Spider, Inc." The story's about a scientist who thinks he can use a 50 million year old piece of amber with a spider encased within to produce synthetic oil. Also stars Gene Barry and Ludwig Stössel.

Another one of my favorite low budget flicks starring Robert is THE ASTOUNDING SHE-MONSTER from 1957. Kenne Duncan plays a great bad guy and it features Shirley Kilpatrick as the buxom, glowing She-Monster.

In 1958, Robert stars in, produces and co-directs THE HIDEOUS SUN DEMON. Saw this one at the theater and it really hit the spot for a little monster guy like me!

Also in 1958, Robert scores the role of narrator in the Jules Verne sci-fi adventure, FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON, starring Joseph Cotten, George Sanders, Debra Paget and Patric Knowles.

Robert's back in 1959 to star in the super bizarro Jerry Warren production, THE INCREDIBLE PETRIFIED WORLD. Also stars John Carradine, Phyllis Coates and Sheila Noonan.

Robert has the role of Major Gibbie Gibson in the episode "Burnout" on the TV Series MEN INTO SPACE in 1959. The story's about the continuing tests on a new alloy for re-entry. On one test the ship acts erratically and although the crew is saved, the ship is lost. A second mission is launched to try and understand what went wrong... Hey, I used to smoke those Lucky Strikes!

Last on the list is BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER from 1960, another wild movie I like to watch again! So, there you have it, we're back on Wednesday for more fun stuff for you'se all, later dudeskis...

SHE-WOLF OF LONDON - "Crazed Thing Of Evil" (1946)

It's time for a Saturday Night Special Classic in The Dungeon!

"She-Wolf Of London" was a Universal release five years after the success of "The Wolf Man," but the only problem was there was no big, bad wolf! I hate to break it to you, but I guess after 72 years, it's no secret that "She-Wolf Of London," although classic, is not a monster movie at all, but is really just a mystery movie!

The Allenby Curse was almost forgotten until somebody remembered it was just made up in the first place!

Nice pair of boobies, I mean bobbies! It's so easy to get confused!

June Lockhart is Phyllis Allenby! June Lockhart has 80 gazillion credits, but in my mind, will be most remembered for two!! She was Ruth Martin in 207 episodes of "Lassie," and she was Maureen Robinson in 84 episodes of "Lost In Space!" June is still going, and will be 93 in June of this year! Her last appearance was in 2016! What a gal!

Phyllis Allenby goes to sleep, somebody gets killed in the night, and when she wakes up, her shoes are caked with mud! She's having severe doubts about her sanity!

"She-Wolf Of London" is a rarity in the fact that it has an almost all female cast!

One of the few males in the story is Martin Kosleck as Dwight Severn! Martin would go on to be the supreme bad guy in one of The Dungeon's top fave movies, "The Flesh Eaters!" He might also hold the record for being in the most shows with alphabets in their title like, "Agent For H.A.R.M.," "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.,""The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," and "The F.B.I.!"

In this film, Martin isn't much more than a victim!

Don't drink the warm milk Phyllis, or you're going to wake up with mud on your shoes again!

The other three main female characters are Jan (The Brute Man) Wiley as Carol Winthrop!

Eily (The Undying Monster, I Married A Witch) Malyon as housekeeper Hannah!

And Sara (Mad Love) Haden as Martha Winthrop! Sara was also in a 1943 film called "The Youngest Profession," which sounds crude by today's standards, but wasn't back then, that had a cast that also included Scotty Beckett and Agnes Moorehead! And how's this for weird, June Lockhart was on "Lassie" for seven years, and Sara Haden's uncredited role in "The Youngest Profession" was named Sister Lassie! I don't know about you, but I smell forgotten conspiracy!

Too much weird stuff going on, so Phyllis decides to do some research of her own on the topic of Lycanthropy!
Unfortunately, werewolves are not the problem! Greed is the problem!!

Now is this a fantastic shot or what? If you want to watch something that has a story that is predominately about women, "She-Wolf Of London" is a good choice, clocks in at sixty-one minutes, and would be a good alternative to watching those G.L.O.W. reruns again!
