SHE-WOLF OF LONDON - "Crazed Thing Of Evil" (1946)

It's time for a Saturday Night Special Classic in The Dungeon!

"She-Wolf Of London" was a Universal release five years after the success of "The Wolf Man," but the only problem was there was no big, bad wolf! I hate to break it to you, but I guess after 72 years, it's no secret that "She-Wolf Of London," although classic, is not a monster movie at all, but is really just a mystery movie!

The Allenby Curse was almost forgotten until somebody remembered it was just made up in the first place!

Nice pair of boobies, I mean bobbies! It's so easy to get confused!

June Lockhart is Phyllis Allenby! June Lockhart has 80 gazillion credits, but in my mind, will be most remembered for two!! She was Ruth Martin in 207 episodes of "Lassie," and she was Maureen Robinson in 84 episodes of "Lost In Space!" June is still going, and will be 93 in June of this year! Her last appearance was in 2016! What a gal!

Phyllis Allenby goes to sleep, somebody gets killed in the night, and when she wakes up, her shoes are caked with mud! She's having severe doubts about her sanity!

"She-Wolf Of London" is a rarity in the fact that it has an almost all female cast!

One of the few males in the story is Martin Kosleck as Dwight Severn! Martin would go on to be the supreme bad guy in one of The Dungeon's top fave movies, "The Flesh Eaters!" He might also hold the record for being in the most shows with alphabets in their title like, "Agent For H.A.R.M.," "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.,""The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," and "The F.B.I.!"

In this film, Martin isn't much more than a victim!

Don't drink the warm milk Phyllis, or you're going to wake up with mud on your shoes again!

The other three main female characters are Jan (The Brute Man) Wiley as Carol Winthrop!

Eily (The Undying Monster, I Married A Witch) Malyon as housekeeper Hannah!

And Sara (Mad Love) Haden as Martha Winthrop! Sara was also in a 1943 film called "The Youngest Profession," which sounds crude by today's standards, but wasn't back then, that had a cast that also included Scotty Beckett and Agnes Moorehead! And how's this for weird, June Lockhart was on "Lassie" for seven years, and Sara Haden's uncredited role in "The Youngest Profession" was named Sister Lassie! I don't know about you, but I smell forgotten conspiracy!

Too much weird stuff going on, so Phyllis decides to do some research of her own on the topic of Lycanthropy!
Unfortunately, werewolves are not the problem! Greed is the problem!!

Now is this a fantastic shot or what? If you want to watch something that has a story that is predominately about women, "She-Wolf Of London" is a good choice, clocks in at sixty-one minutes, and would be a good alternative to watching those G.L.O.W. reruns again!

Thanks for the great entry!

I haven't seen this one in 40-45 years, on Pittsburgh's old Chiller Theater, hosted by Bill "Chilly Billy" Cardille! It reminds me of how much I enjoyed this flick back in the day. And hey, as a Lost in Space fan(first season only), it's good anytime to see "Maureen Robinson" aka one of our finest TV moms in the 50s and 60s, June Lockhart!

Fangs for the memories!
