THE FLESH EATERS / Vulcan Productions Inc. - 1964

Welcome to Friday Frights with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. Tonite's feature is one of the coolest little flicks you could ever hope for, it gots it all! Unfortunately, I thought this version had the rare Nazi experiments flashback segment, but, it doesn't... So solly! Well, at least it's widescreen.

Bombs away!..

I will now attempt to channel Eegah!! for a minute... Okay, here it comes... "The opening sequence of "The Flesh Eaters" has a boy and girl on a boat with the radio playing in the background, the voice on the radio, Jack Curtis says, “Now here's a real gasser, a hot biscuit from the old rhythm and blues oven, your old favorites, the Teen Killers singing Pete’s Beat.” Arnold Drake, the writer of "Flesh Eaters", who went on to write "Doom Patrol" & "Deadman" for DC Comics, wrote the song, whistled and sang it. "Behind this Membrane...You Will Be Driven To a Point...Midway Between Life and Death!" 'Nuf said?

Let's bring in our little Friday helper, that 6-eyed furry freek, Ralphie The Tarantula! He's here to be pushin' that big red 'GO' button over there by the toaster, and start our Eariffic Earclip for... THE FLESH EATERS!

We start our flick wif' another '3 hour tour' gone haywire... I think the seaplane's a Colonial "Skimmer."

Once on the deserted island, alcoholic movie star Laura Winters tries to get in good with the evil Professor Bartell, you know, just in case he's got some booze stashed away somewhere.

There's this great footage of the beach littered with thousands of dead, decomposed fish. How lucky was that?!

Our hero and pilot, Grant Murdoch, gets a few of the flesh eating critters on his leg. Jan takes her blouse off to make a bandage for him... Whotta girl! Jan is played by Barbara Wilkin, Barb was in THE OUTER LIMITS episode 'Expanding Human.'

I'm comin' my people!.. Omar is played by Ray Tudor. Ray had one other role 5 years later, dead last uncredited credit in THE SIDEHACKERS! Eegah!! and Tabonga have more acting credits than that!

Jan and Grant check out the professor's super solar generator. It has kind of a KRONOS thing going on...

Matt tries to bring supplies in his motorboat to the professor, but is splashed in the face with water that's full of them devilish little flesh eaters!

Professor Bartell is definitely one accommodating son of a bitch!

After Omar slugs down his pop laced with flesh eaters, well, his guts start pouring out! Then, the professor tapes the screams of pain... When I saw these stills in FM #29 in 1964, I have to say, they freaked me out a little!

Omar's screams can be heard on the tape recorder that the professor placed on the raft with him, to make it look and sound like Omar tried to leave the island on his own. The bottom photo shows you where the flesh eaters came out!

Jan discovers something stinky in the tent!

When Professor Bartell tries to strangle Grant, he's the one that gets pushed into the infested water! Martin Kosleck is great in AGENT FOR H.A.R.M. as madman Basil Malko, who was trying to get his hands on the deadly 'spore gun!'

Grant and Jan watch as a giant creature is born out of the ocean. Looks like it's having a Mr. Bubble bath.

Grant approaches it, gets a ride on the monster's claw, then injects human blood into the cyclops eyeball because that's the only way to stop it!.. Okay, who wrote this?!

Ghoulnight Everbloody!..

THE FLESH EATERS - "Rita Morely" - "It's A Wonder" (1964)

"Fish Heads, Fish Heads, Eat 'em up! Yum!" This fish looks like it might be just a little bit overcooked! Oh, it's "Flesh Eaters" not "Fish Eaters!" Now it makes more sense! Presenting: The insidiously evil Professor Peter Bartell and his best friend, a radioactive fish!!

Rita Morley was great in "The Flesh Eaters" as the wealthy lush Laura Winters. The cinematography was excellent throughout this film by Carson Davidson, the only time he ever opted for the job, too bad, he had a great eye!

This little song is from a particularity touching scene where Laura was trying to get her mobile liquor cabinet retrieved back from the ocean. After much research, I still haven't been able to determine exactly who to credit for the vocals on this song, but I have no reason to believe it's not Rita herself.

So, here you go, before she gets the crap kicked out of her by that loving character Martin Kosleck as the insanely cruel and devious Professor Peter Bartell, here's "It's A Wonder!"
Uh, Laura didn't quite exactly make it to the end of the movie, thanx to the professor!!!!
This Daddy of all the little Flesh Eaters was a big ugly, smelly, noisey, good old fashioned for-real monster. All that fancy stuff they got today, but they just don't make monsters like this anymore!!! I guess it isn't such a wonder after all!

THE FLESH EATERS - The Teen Killers - "Pete's Beat" (1964)

The opening sequence of "The Flesh Eaters" has a boy and girl on a boat with the radio playing in the background, the voice on the radio, Jack Curtis says, “Now here's a real gasser, a hot biscuit from the old rhythm and blues oven, your old favorites, the Teen Killers singing Pete’s Beat.” Arnold Drake, the writer of "Flesh Eaters", who went on to write "Doom Patrol" & "Deadman" for DC Comics, wrote the song, whistled and sang it. "Behind this Membrane...You Will Be Driven To a Point...Midway Between Life and Death!" Oh, Yeah!!! Find It & Buy It!

THE FLESH EATERS - Julian Stein - "Here's Omar" (1964)

"What is it, a Martian Hymn?" Yes, that is the question, & only Ray Tudor as Omar, or The Geek have the answer, and they don't appear to be talkin'! The music for "The Flesh Eaters" was done by yet another Stein, Julian this time, and what a cool & sleazy classic it is. We always knew this movie was extra strange, well, try & find out more information about Ray Tudor or Julian Stein. It appears that this movie is about all they ever did. Ray Tudor is credited in one other biker film, "The Sidehackers", but other than that, these people have slipped off the radar as far as we can tell. Omar was a great beatnik character, right up there with Maynard as far as Cool goes! Questions, questions! "Where's the love Mac?"

THE FLESH EATERS / Deleted Nazi Experiment Sequence - 1964

Welcome to our Special 4th Of July Post with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. A lot of people are unaware of the Nazi experiment scenes that were deleted from the final cut of this classic horror flick, so, that's where we come in!

Love the way the title flickers while shown, in fact, this whole film is nothing but creative!

In this deleted scene, Professor Bartell decides to tell Grant and Jan all about the bizarre secret experiments by the Nazis which he continues to work on...

Anyway, Nazis are creating microscopic critters to strip the flesh off people they don't like.

You see, the goal is to dissolve the flesh off as quickly as possible! Here's a male victim.

Alright then, it's time to bring out the nekkid chicks!.. ROLL CALL!!

SALLY!....... As you can see, Sally's a blond and has a cute little bum...

JANET!...... Janet's a brunette with sexy tan lines and a very nice caboose...

You'll notice that things don't turn out too well for these gals! Tune in tomorrow for Eegah!!

SCREAM QUEENS I'VE HAD CRUSHES ON

It's time to share some of  my favorite scream queens that I have had crushes on, ones that are so lovely that it pulls on my heart strings...

Faith Domergue was my number one heart throb for years, a mix of intelligence and loveliness, and was perfect for THIS ISLAND EARTH and IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA, she was exotic.

Beverly Garland was one beautiful lady, appearing in THE NEANDERTHAL MAN, CURUCU, BEAST OF THE AMAZON, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD and NOT OF THIS EARTH. She always set my heart on fire, so attractive.

OMG, then there's Yvette Vickers, she exuded sexiness to the tenth degree and was basically type cast as a hussy. She starred in ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN and ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, two movies I saw back when they came out, and she even did a number of photo shoots when she wore little or no clothing! Ooh la la!!

After watching TERROR IN THE MIDNIGHT SUN I fell in love with Barbara Wilson, a real heart throb, there's even a scene in the cabin where you get to see her nude, in a shadow. She's a talented ice skater too! She's also the girl at the beginning of THE FLESH EATERS that loses her top and then gets her flesh eaten off.

Jeanne Carmen is another hot chick, and she flaunted it in revealing photo shoots posing partially nude. That lobby card  for THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS even shows her dressing (or undressing) while Don holds a blanket over her!

Then there's Adele Lamont, how could I not fall for her in THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE! She was so lovely I couldn't believe it, and when I saw the Euro insert of the photo shoot where she's nude, I melted, what a good sport! A real goddess.

Lastly is Sally Todd, that's her backside shown in this lobby card for THE UNEARTHLY, and nice photo insert! She was one sexy gal and did a lot of revealing photo shoots. Then she was in one of my faves, FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER, where she is actually the ugly monster dude! These have been some of my personal heart throbs, love 'em!
