DER BUCKLIGE VON SOHO - "The Hunchback Of Soho" (1966)

 Tonight's Edgar Wallace Wednesday feature is another film that's hard to find!

 I think it's supposed to be "The Hunchback Of Soho," but what do I know, I just work here!

 It's 1960's Soho, so seeing some mädchen running around in her chonies is no big deal!!

 Soho already has it's share of phantoms and gorillas, so might as well add a hunchback to the mix!

 Hey pal, you might want to get those piston rings replaced!

 I think if you sat on this chair, you might get a signal that somebody was listening in on the conversation!

 Siegfried Schürenberg plays Sir John for the 9000th time!

 Ilse Pagé played Sir John's assistant in many of these films, but not this one, so he can't help her out here!

 They really used to know how to interrogate people back in the good old days!

 Can you just smell the hair spray in the room?

DIE TÜR MIT DEN 7 SCHLÖSSEM - "The Door With Seven Locks" (1962)

It's a Edgar Wallace Wednesday in The Dungeon, and tonight's feature,
"The Door With Seven Locks!"

Another version of  "The Door With Seven Locks" was released in 1940, and then they changed the name to "Chamber Of Horrors!"

The title "Chamber Of Horrors" was then used again for a completely different movie that was made in 1966.

I don't know how many of these Edgar Wallace films they made using these interchangeable cast members, but there's a lot of them, and somehow, they're always good!

In "The Door With Seven Locks" we have Heinz Drache in the lead role instead of Joachim Fuchsberger.

Not such a regular to this cast, I think Savina Sesselmann was only in one other Edgar Wallace film, "The Devil's Daffodil."

Hans Nielsen was in the Edgar Wallace classics "The Indian Scarf," "The Phantom Of Soho," and "The Monster Of London City."

Gisela Uhlen was also in "The Indian Scarf," and "The Hunchback Of Soho."

Pinkas Braun was in the colourful Wallace titles "Secret Of The Red Orchid," and "The Curse Of The Yellow Snake."

The always great Werner Peters was also in "The Phantom Of Soho," and "The Black Abbot."

I'm counting at least eleven Edgar Wallace movies that Klaus Kinski has been in!

Jan Hendricks was in "The Man With The Glass Eye," and "The College Girl Murders!"

This might be the only Edgar Wallace film that Friedrich Joloff was in, but he did a lot of other work like being in six of the seven episodes of  "Raumpatrouille - Die Phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffes Orion," or German "Space Patrol."

The Austrian equivalent to Tor Johnson, and professional wrestler Ady Berber is in this film too.

Ady was also in the super classic "Dead Eyes Of London," and "Dr. Mabuse Vs. Scotland Yard."

Last but not least is Eddie Arent who provided the comic relief in at least 19 Edgar Wallace films by my counting!

You got seven locks, then you're gonna need some keys!

I think there is a close up of an eye or an eye peeping through some weird hole in every Edgar Wallace movie that was ever made!

Snakes don't exist just in the jungle!

It's 'The Door!'

Even Klaus Kinski's character Pheeny can't believe how hard it is to find a copy of this film!

It just makes you want to scream!!!

DER GORILLA VON SOHO - "Gorilla Gang" (1968)

 

It's time for another Edgar Wallace Wednesday down in The Dungeon, so hold on to your popcorn, and get ready for "Gorilla Gang!"

 

Edgar Wallace haunts all of us each and every day, and yet most people don't even realize it, but trust me, he's watching!

It's Cinco de Mayo, so I decided to watch a German film with Spanish sub-titles while drinking Margaritas, and I suggest you do so too!

One thing for sure, no matter what language it's in, anything is enjoyable when it has a soundtrack composed by Maestro Peter Thomas.

"Der Gorilla Von Soho" was also known as "Gorilla Gang."

In Spanish, that translates roughly to "Pandilla de Gorilas."

To you it might just look like some goof in a gorilla suit, but the reality is that it's

"A monster that strikes fear into the heart of a whole city!"

"A strange bar in London's Soho District...........

 ............Conceals many a mystery!"

 

Strange indeed! 

The wealthy patrons get drunk and either paint, or take pictures of a bunch of semi-nude Adam & Evil models!

As always, there are those tricky Edgar Wallace elements, like this safe with a pistol in it that shoots the unsuspecting person who opens it, square in the chest!

Sir John is not in this film but is replaced with another perv from Scotland Yard, the amazing Hubert von Meyerinck as Sir Arthur, who was also in a ton of other Edgar Wallace films like "The Man With The Glass Eye," "The Hunchback Of Soho," and "Again The Ringer."

This gorilla looks like he just got back from the hair stylist!

The Gorilla Gang use this ambulance as their getaway car after they pull a job.

In one scene, the gorilla dives into the open back door!

"With one vicious slash they severed the jugular vein of an entire city!"

 

 

"People disappear mysteriously!"

The fact that she has the "Sergeant Pepper" album hanging on her wall, and the other exposed record is by the phenomenal jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, shows that this gal has got good taste in music, but too bad that's not going to be good enough to save her life.

"Nobody knows the hideout of the horrible monster," but that doesn't stop them from trying!

Victims get drowned so that the gorillas can get the insurance money! The difficult part was filling out all the paperwork!

Darn, who'd a thunk? 

It wasn't a gorilla at all, but just some moron in a gorilla suit instead!

Even after the whole ordeal is over, horndog Sir Arthur continues to investigate in his own special way!
