TERRAHAWKS / "Mind Monster" - 1983

Here's a wild episode from the British TV series by Gerry Anderson and his team of amazing production designers. In this story, two members of the Terrahawks find a glass cabinet of mist floating in space and bring it back to the Hawknest for analysis. Their commander, Dr. 'Tiger' Ninestein, always says... Expect the unexpected!

Zelda, Yung-Star and Cy-Star are Martians who are bent on the destruction of Earth, this time Zelda has come up with a plan to create fear and horrific hallucinations by putting a special mist in a glass case, and sending it to Earth...

Their Martian ship goes into space and flings it towards the blue planet.

Already in space, the Terrahawk ship with Lt. Hiro and Kate encounter the strange object, and have to decide if they want to bring it to the ship and take it to the Terrahawk lab for inspection.

Lt. Hiro ends up sending two robot Zeroids out to bring it back to the ship.

Once in the ship, Kate goes to look at the case and is shocked when a creepy laughing figure appears in the blue mist.

The crew make it back to Earth and descend into a tree that opens up for them, landing just the way Elon Musk's Starship does, cool.

At the Terranest, the case of mist has been taken to the lab, when, Mary gets a strange feeling while working on a landscape painting. She turns her head to find a gruesome monster tearing up her studio and trying to attack her.

I personally hate when this happens. Anyway, Mary calls the others into her room, but it's in perfect condition with everything in its proper place! What's going on around here?

Lt. Hawkeye is searching a cave when he is overcome with a feeling of fear and anxiety.

I love this character, Moid. Moid attacks Hawkeye with fervor and delight.

The Zeroids do not see the menace, they just see Hawkeye acting out as if he were being attacked by some invisible thing.

So, Tiger has a plan to infect himself with the mist. He starts seeing horrific visions of monsters trying to attack him, he's sweating really bad.

You know, sometime that fake fur stuff just looks terrible and falls flat on its face, like here. I mean, it looks like a silly scary stuffed toy on the prowl.

The robots carry out Tiger's orders and drain his brain into a special device.

The final step of the dangerous process involves putting his brain back to its normal state, and of course everything turns out perfectly, duh.

And, the storage device with his infected brain is shot way into space and the bomb on board is detonated. The menacing plot blows up in the Martians' face!

In the meantime, the recording studio is waiting on Kate to do her number for a live recording of her new song (each episode ends with Kate singing a song). But, she can't make it in time. Love that damn building, I want one!

So, they use satellite dishes to connect up and the day is saved, Kate sings her tune, making for a fine happy ending...

SUCK - "Vampires Rock" (2009)

This Saturday Night Special sucked, but I liked it!
Sometimes they are hard to find, but this is a real rock and roll movie!

"SUCK" is about an ordinary but pretty good rock and roll band trying to make it. Ironically their name is The Winners, because they are anything but.
Rob Stefaniuk as Joey, the leader of the band, also wrote and directed "SUCK." He also composed and performed a lot of the music.

After a gig, the bass player goes home with this guy, and life will never be the same for The Winners, because she returns a changed person!
Dimitri Coats is the lead singer in a band called The Burning Brides, and is currently producing another rock and roll movie called "Free LSD."

"SUCK" might not be the greatest movie in the world, but it's got lots of fun pop culture and album album cover references like this thrown in here and there.

Jessica Paré is Jennifer, the transformed bass player.

Since 2017, Jessica has been Mandy Ellis on the TV show "SEAL Team."

Here's homage to another great album cover, T-Rex's "Electric Warrior" from 1971.

You can't get much more rock and roll than meeting Alice Cooper at The Crossroads!

"SUCK" is a Canadian film, and there's a great scene where the band gets pulled over at the border by an overzealous security guard, but when he finds out they are in a band, he just lets them go, because he used to be in a band himself.

I guess so because the border guard was played by Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson!

I think a great alternative title for this film would be
"SLURP!"

The musician Moby who is a well known vegan and animal activist plays a character named Beef who has a band called The Secretaries Of Steak, and people in the audience throw meat at them!
That's how twisted this movie is!

If this shot looks familiar, it's because it's the same as the cover of The Who's 1979 LP
 "The Kids Are Alright!"

The rock and roll madness doesn't stop there. You've still got Iggy Pop as legendary eccentric Producer Victor!

When Iggy Pop gives you advice about life and rock and roll, why would you not listen to him?

If nothing else,"SUCK" is amazing eye candy and a lot of the effects are pretty dang cool!

The band has now completely gone to the dark side, and they're a lot more popular because of it!

Are they finished with the rock and roll cameos yet? Hell No! Here's Black Flag's Henry Rollins as DJ Rockin' Roger before he gets eaten alive on the air.

I almost forgot about vampire hunter Eddie Van Helsing as played by Dungeon Hero Malcolm McDowell. They even inserted a little bit of footage from another fave film "O Lucky Man" in flashback scenes of Eddie Van Helsing's past.

"Vampires Rock!"

Another cool headline was "Vampires Eat Jonas Brothers."

I stumbled on "SUCK" streaming on Amazon. It's pretty funny, the music is great, and there's some great effects. It's not super gory, there's barely any profanity, and it still manages to rock!

13 WILD VINTAGE MEXICAN HORROR POSTERS

Today I have for you13 wild and wooly vintage Mexican horror movie posters which includes some of our favorite lucha buddies of course.

We start with THE RETURN OF THE MONSTER from good old 1959, and I have to tell you, wow, this thing is out there. You really have to watch it to appreciate its weirdness!!

Oh boy, here we go, THE RIDERS OF THE SKULLS from 1965 is an episodic movie where our hero goes up against 3 classic monsters in the wackiest fight scenes... EVER!! Recommended.

ROBBERY OF THE THE MUMMIES OF GUANAJUATO from 1972 features a team of luchadores that go up against an evil count and a mad scientist, worth a view just get a gander at their dress duds, talk about style!

From 1964 we have WRESTLING WOMEN vs. THE AZTEC MUMMY, where, our gals go up against a female mummy and her boyfriend, also a mummy. The girls were in an earlier movie, namely, DOCTOR OF DOOM. The male mummy in this one can change into a snake or a bat, making for extra mayhem!

SANTO AND BLUE DEMON vs. THE MONSTERS from 1970 is another insane story, our heroes go against a mad scientist and his army of reanimated monsters. There on the right is the monster, OOK, borrowed from the earlier SHIP OF MONSTERS.

Then we have THE CASTLE OF MUMMIES OF GIANAJUATO that hit the screens in Mexico in 1973, it has 3 wrestling buddies that have to battle a mad scientist, killer dwarves and a horde of re-animated mummies!

In SANTO vs. THE VAMPIRE WOMEN from 1962, Santo has to protect a professor's daughter from vampires intent of kidnapping her and marrying her to the devil! This one is great MST fodder as Mike, Bill and Kevin rip away on it...

From 1959 we have THE MAN AND THE MONSTER, and I have to say, it has one of the goofiest monster makeup jobs in cinema history! That nose!! Anyway, the story's about selling yourself to the devil and the repercussions thereof..

THE AZTEC MUMMY from 1957 was the first in a trilogy of stories about a scientist who uses hypnotic regression to discover a re-animated Aztec Mummy that he's forced to battle with. His friend has a secret, he's actually a masked luchadore named Silver Angel. By the way, you can watch our movie trailer, SILVER ANGEL vs. THE DEATH ZOMBIES, there on the right, Check it out, fun stuff, we recommend it here at The Dungeon!

The 3rd movie in that series is the ultra wacky, THE ROBOT vs. THE AZTEC MUMMY from 1958, must see to believe! A mad doctor builds a human robot to go up against the deadly Aztec Mummy. It's hilarious to watch the mummy destroy the robot at the end, plus the MST gang add to the laughs as they rip away.

In 1966 we have BLUE DEMON vs. THE SATANIC POWER where our guy has to do battle with a re-animated sorcerer from the past whose powers are unearthly. Love the gal there!

SANTO IN THE HOTEL OF DEATH came out in 1963, it's about our hero who's confronted with mystery and mayhem as he has to deal with a psycho on the loose, all taking place in the hotel of death! Love that poster!!

Lastly we have THE SHADOW OF THE BAT from 1968, in it, Blue Demon has to do battle with the former disfigured wrestler called The Bat, who is planning to kidnap a beautiful female singer (shades of The Phantom Of The Opera)... Okay, there you go, 13 classic vintage poster to feast your eyeballs on, later dude...
