Well, it wasn't easy, but even the best gets old after awhile, so you might notice we've changed the playlist on Radio 13 with a whole new set of songs! So get ready to Dig In and Trip Out!! But for right now.....
It's Bava Time!!! In 1959, Mario Bava directed the black and white classic "Caltiki," it would only be fives years later when he got around to tonight's feature, a colour classic thriller from somewhere on the other side of elsewhere, "Blood And Black Lace", and what a film it is!
The stunning Eva Bartok and the sleazy Cameron Mitchell, nice casting, but sick!!
Man of the hour and director Mario Bava was a hands on guy who did a lot of the cinematography himself, but the main guy with the good eye was Ubaldo Terzano, and this is the way he rolled!!
One, Two, Three! It's okay, everything gonna be all right, just Scream!!
We've written about the Masestro Carlo Rustichelli here before for his work on "Long Hair Of Death" and "The Day The Sky Exploded," but in my humble opinion, this is some of his best work, but then there are like 397 more films he composed for too!! A small piece of advice! Just go get it!!

THEY - Bill Rebane - "Hell Fire" (1974)
No, it's not "THEM," Rodan already did that one! By 1974 one-word titles were starting to get scarce, and "THE" just wasn't that scary, so, leave it to Bill Rebane to come up with "THEY" as an alternate title!! You know it's going to be up there with the best of the worst when you have a feature directed by Bill Rebane, the man responsible for bringing us the Über-Classic "Monster A Go-Go" in 1965, but, if nothing else, at least musically, "THEY" delivers the goods!!! And who claims responsibility for the music? Bill Rebane!! Wotta guy, because what we're talking about here starts with an opening theme that sounds remarkably like the theme to "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" pecked out on a 39 dollar Casio keyboard!!
Can you say Canada 1974??
In this scene, there's some pretty dang swingin' jazz coming out of the radio that's probably some stock Nawlins' "Preservation Hall Jazz All-Stars" that Bill got off some album he found at the Goodwill Store! Whatever! It's Bill Rebane, he writes, he directs, he produces, he edits, and he uses members of his family to fill in the gaps, so maybe the film isn't prefect, or even good, but it's understandable, because one guy can only do so much!!! Give that one guy some credit!!
Making movies can be fun if you have money, but it's just a whole lot of unappreciated work, if you don't!!!
Wow! Far Out, man!!! That's so in tune with the universe!!!

KOMMISSAR X - JAGD AUF UNBEKANNT - Bobby Gutesha - "Kiss Kiss...Kill Kill" (1966)
Everybody likes action, adventure Spy movies, and they fit in quite well around here because they almost always have something Psychotronic going on in some form or another, so tonight, it's "Kommissar X" time, and that means we're calling Joe Louis Walker, and expecting a good time to boot, cause what we've got here is the first of seven releases written by a Mr. Bert F. Island under the "Kommissar X" banner, this one titled "Kiss Kiss... Kill Kill", and it just might be the best one!! The pairing of Tony Kendall as Joe Walker and 'Bad' Brad Harris as Captain Tom Rowland is an odd, but workable couple that deserves another shot!! Rent it on Netflix, Hell, you get three complete separate titles on one disc, so there is no way you can go wrong! This is very possibly the best deal this economy's got going, and that ain't no joke!! It's Joe Louis Walker, just enjoy it!!
"Jagd auf Unbekannt" has got it all and more, you've got out of control action!!
You've got an amazing stockpile of the female species!!!
AND, above all else, you've got Joe Walker himself, taking it all in!!!
'Mr. Muscles' Brad Harris plays the role of Captain Tom Rowland, who is pretty much the straight guy paired with the out of control Joe Walker!!
Did I forget to mention that Brad does his own stunts? He actually started his film career as a stunt man!!
Talk about throwing you a curve, it must be April first, because all of sudden, and out of nowhere, we're in the middle of what seems to be "Frankenstein's Daughter!" What the Hell??
Pretty tricky, it was only an act!!
Just try and tell me that you didn't want to know about this cool transitor radio that turns into a high powered rifle!!!
What the Hell's going on here?? It's a great movie, isn't it just obvious???
In the end, Brad does a pretty good job with the chicks himself, once he takes his shirt off!
The incredible music from this film is brought to you by composer Bobby Gutesha or Mladen Gutesa as he's known to his family, and continues throughout the whole movie! I regret I don't know the name of of the gal singing the theme song, if you know, pass the info on over! The music is all over the place from Lounge to Dixie, and my favorite part is what sounds like car horns in a busy New York intersection!!
