DEATH CURSE OF TARTU - Al Jacobs - "Tartu Dance" (1966)

Meanwhile, back in the swamp, we still got kids dancing & guys getting tossed in the water, before they get killed. Try and find some more information on the music from this scene! Good luck! It's probably another Neil Sedaka variation, but really, it sounds a lot like Joe "King" Carrasco & The Crowns, The King of Tex-Mex Rock & Roll, if ya'll need some kind of reference point. This is a pretty good upbeat song, a bit ahead of it's time, that is definitely worthy of a title, maybe "Joe Joe"? Once again, clear up the mystery & get yourself a copy!

THE WASP WOMAN - Fred Katz - "Main Title" (1960)

Fred Katz! What A Story! Almost seems impossible, but Fred Katz composed the music for "A Bucket of Blood" in 1959, "The Little Shop of Horrors" in 1960, "The Wasp Woman" in 1960, and "Creature From The Haunted Sea" in 1961. It was like the man hit a grand slam home run, then zip, nada, zero, until he resurfaces with "Boogie Nights" in 1997! Now that's one hip Kat!! Fred, wherever you are, you're our hero, man!! A Dwrayger Dungeon Hall Of Famer if there ever was one!! Thanx!!! Another sidenote tidbit, why do they show a beekeeper at the begining of a film about wasps, that's what we really want to know!
As an extra added bonus, "The Wasp Woman" also has DD Faves Barboura Morris, Michael Mark, Bruno VeSoto & Frank Wolff, and that amounts to an all-star cast as far as we're concerned!!!

Go and get yourself a copy for that Halloween party you've been thinking about!

THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS - Fred Katz - "Main Title" (1960)

There's nothing we could possibly say about "Little Shop Of Horrors" that would be new or unique, but it does have to be included on this list anyway. More brilliant music from Fred Katz & Ron Stein, & amazing performances by Jonathan Haze, Dick Miller & Jack Nicholson!
Now if you try to trace the history of "People Eaters" through time, you will only have to go back a couple of years, & not have to use a whole lot of imagination to remember in 1958 there was a quite famous purple "People Eater," that was created by the masterful Sheb Wooley, who also recorded by the name of Ben Colder, singing parody covers of other people's hit songs. Do you remember "Hello Walls # 2" where the guy comes in home drunk & goes into the neighbor's house & can't recognize anything? Same guy wrote & sang "Purple People Eater." Bang, two years later, more "People Eater" history is made with "The Passionate People Eater," AKA, "The Little Shop Of Horrors." Coincidence? I doubt it!

DAS PHANTOM VON SOHO - Martin Böttcher - "Two Scenes" (1964)

"The Phantom Of Soho" revolves in and around a strip club, so it makes good sense to use a composer with great jazz sensibilities when it comes around to the soundtrack. Bring in Martin Böttcher if you want the best. This is Good Stuff!!! Cool And Sleazy, those horns just stretch across the soundscape, it's too much! Two Scenes

LA MORTE VIENE DALLO SPAZIO (The Day The Sky Exploded) - Carlo Rustichelli - "Two Scenes" (1958)

Wow, this is one Happy couple!! You know, we're really starting to see a pattern forming in these films now, back in the 50's & 60's, if the people aren't drunk or total lushes, then they are just super extra bitchier than ever! It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to realize that the whole reason this guy wants to go off into space, is to get the hell away from her!!!! We're the lucky ones, we get to hear the nice jazzy score without having to be in the same room with her!

Yow! Are we having fun yet? You'd think the sky is falling or something!! The Sky Is Falling

GOJIRA, EBIRA, MOSURA: NANKAI NO DAIKETTO (Godzilla Versus The Sea Monster) - Masaru Satô - "Big Battle" (1966)

"Godzilla Versus The Sea Monster" and the music of Masaru Satô are riding high on the old Christmas gift list around here this year. Godzilla for everyone, anytime, anywhere, 24-7, that's what we always like to say, and this is some of the best! It's a big battle with some classic 1966 rock! Merry X-13Mas!

THE WILD WORLD OF BATWOMAN - Erich Bromberg (Jerry Warren) - "Slip Her A Mickey" (1966)

At the very beginning of this fascinating film, you have this scene where the bad guys are going to drug one of the Bat Girls. The accompanying music is a crunching little guitar driven noodler, that cooks along quite nicely before hitting the turn at approximately 1:13, at which point, this track really starts diggin' out! Those dudes need to be dealt with! Better call Batwoman!! Really! Don't know what musicians Jerry got to play this music, but it is inspired! Download it! Crank It! Rent It! Slip Her A Mickey

BLOOD THIRST - "Swingin' Immunity" (1965)

Here's guessing that 6 year lag between production & release of "Blood Thirst" is the reason we can't find any information about the composer or the musicians for this film. Irregardless, it's a swingin' mass of curiosity to be enjoyed by all, & here's a noteworthy scene with some great music & very interesting dialogue that we like to call..."Swingin' Immunity"

"I don't suppose you've ever lived with a maniac, have you?" Gawd, she is such a liar!!

EIN TOTER HING IM NETZ (Body In The Web) - Karl Bette/Willy Mattes - "Singapore Swing" (1960)

Like a lot of movies from the 60's, this motion picture had so many different names. We talked about it here before & have always referred to this film as "Horrors Of Spider Island," but it was also released in the USA as "Girls of Spider Island," "It's Hot in Paradise" & "The Spider's Web." All great titles and all very appropriate! So, after the opening credits there is a very short intro scene that has another great little swingin' number by Bette & Mattes that cannot be ignored. We like to refer to it as....."Singapore Swing"

THE NASTY RABBIT - Arch Hall & The Archers - "Main Title" (1964)

The only possible justification for making this film as far as we can figger is, Arch Hall Sr. must have seen "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World" the year before & thought he could capitalize on something oddball like it. It's a real shame & a pity too, because Arch & the Archers with the help of Pat & Lolly Vegas are looking and sounding better than ever. The band is tight & all the songs rock. The music is literally the only thing decent in the whole film. The rest of it will just want to make you tear your hair out. They just couldn't seem to distinguish between funny or dumb and stupid, & it's just not funny. "Invasion Of The Star Creatures" is 100 times funnier than this film, & I'm telling you, that's bad!! Seriously though, I don't care what anybody else says, for 1964, this band is Rockin' and it's a real shame they were reduced to mere background music, even if it is the best background music you're ever going to hear! Nasty Rabbit

VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS - Beau Brummels - "Woman" (1965)

We have definitely decided around here that "Village Of The Giants" is one of the best 'worst movies' ever made; so extra BIG, it's overflowing! We love it & all the music is topnotch, and above all else, Boss!!! This song "Woman" by the Beau Brummels is used to the hilt, but that's why it's important to have good music!! Woman Woman with Dialogue Woman With Ducks Here's a studio version, a version with dialogue from the bar scene, & the reprise where they bring in the Giant Ducks, so you can ponder the idiosyncrasies! "Woman, Oh, Woman!" "Hey, Let's get some beer over here!" These people REALLY were PARTY MONSTERS!!!!!!

FURANKENSHUTAIN TAI CHITEI KAIJU BARAGON (Frankenstein Conquers The World) - Akira Ifukube - "Opening Credits" (1965)

Working the same common ground as Masaru Satô in the Japanese giant monster music realm, Akira Ifukube had a number of equally impressive outings. "Frankenstein Conquers The World" had three completely separate party scenes, so there was a whole lot of music going on. Here's the music from the opening credits, just to whet your appetite! Frankenstein Conquers the World!

SEDDOK, L'EREDE DI SATANA (Atom Age Vampire) - Armando Trovajoli - "Opening Credits" (1960)

Just reading the list of films that Armando Trovajoli composed the music for made my head start spinning. Some people are so productive, this cat was composing music for 5 to 10 films a year since 1953! There was a whole bunch of Hercules films, & an assortment of other titles & genres. Besides "Atom Age Vampire," there was "My Uncle The Vampire," "Little Girls And High Finance," "Werewolf In A Girl's Dormitory," "Planets Around Us," one of the first films ever to feature cyborgs, and a few 100 other titles! Hoist your glasses high, for a toast to Armando! Grazie!

Atom Age Vampire Here's the opening credits from "Atom Age Vampire" coupled up with another short little musical scene. The credits start out fully orchestrated & sappy with church bells chiming, then the sleazy sax kicks in & takes it to another level.

DAIKYOJU GAPPA (Monster From A Prehistoric Planet) - Seitaro Omori - "Monster Reunion" (1967)

"Daikyojû Gappa" has one of the sappiest scenes ever put on film, this reunion between the Monsters is just so touching, with it's horrible humming and screeching, roaring gawdawful strings. We hope you enjoy it as much as Tabonga does!!

CARNIVAL OF SOULS - Gene Moore - "At The Bar" (1962)

Of all characters, this couple really creeps me out! She's not a pig, according to his friend, but is a mouse as far as he is concerned. He's a weasel jerk, but she only wants to be with him! They're both nuts, so I guess they just deserve each other, and we deserve to hear the cool sleaze on the jukebox by Gene Moore & just wait til they go up to the room. Candace Hilligoss is terrifically icky as Mary Henry. Sidney Berger who plays loser John Linden, was only in 2 movies, this one & another movie by Wes Craven made in 1988, called, you guessed it, "Carnival Of Souls," & went on to be the head of the Drama Department at the University Of Houston! Carnival Of Souls

FORBIDDEN PLANET - Bebe & Louis Barron - "Main TItle" (1956)

"Forbidden Planet" is probably THE best movie ever made, period. It's all been said, & it's all true! It is amazing! This film has made an impression on our collective minds to last a Krell's lifetime or longer! You get Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Jack Kelly, Earl Holiman & Robby The Robot, an incredible score of the future, that actually makes sense from the ever so talented Barrons, Disney special effects & a look unlike anything ever seen before or since! Not to forget, the scariest monster ever to walk the face of any planet, your mind!! Mandatory viewing for any lover of the genre. In a perfect world of the future we'll all have a copy!! Id's all up to you now!

Forbidden Planet

IL PIANETA DEGLI UOMINI SPENTI (Battle Of The Worlds) - Mario Migliardi - "Outsider Music" (1961)

Mario M. also did the music for the 1968 German laughfest, "Der Turm Der Verbotenen Liebe," which had the English title "The Tower Of Screaming Virgins."
Why did they have to have a guy named Cornfield? That's what we need to know. Everything else is fairly self-explanatory, but Dr. Cornfield? Don't get it! Anyway, despite that, this is a pretty exciting scene with equally interesting 'future' type music, especially for 1961. So they figured out how to get to the "Outsider" by using oscillators as music, what genius!!! Turn it up Loud for maximum effect!!!

AAARRGGHHH!!!! Ya'll Come On Back Now, Y'Hear??
