SOME GIRLS DO - Kenrick Pitt (aka Ebony Keyes, aka Lee Vanderbilt) - "But Then Again" (1969)

Well, here's a fun end of the year romp for you, a movie I had been unsuccessfully doing some serious serarchin' for, but with a little help from Bulldog Drummond, I finally found it!!

It's called "Some Girls Do," and shouldn't get confused with a soft-core film made the same year titled "Girls That Do!" The title song was written by Don Black with lyrics by Charles Blackwell, and was sung by Lee Vanderbilt who had quite a few popuar singles in the 60's in the UK! So without further adieu, here's "Some Girls Do!"

"Some Girls Do" starts off in a hurry, and believe me, there's lots of good-lookin' girls, and they're doing lots of bad things............

.......................and a lot of the time, they seem to be really enjoying themselves!!

 Go ahead! Pick one! They're all mindless zombie robots, flesh and blood, with a switch in their neck that will turn them off or on! Every man's dream or every man's nightmare?

All these pretty women wreaking all kinds of havoc all over the place, now just what is going on here anyhow?

Enter Richard Johnson as the inimitable Bulldog Drummond!! His drink of choice is the Bullshot, which is made of vodka and beef broth, with a dash of Worchestershire, Tabasco, salt and pepper, kind of like a Bloody Mary, but you substitute a Bulldog for Mary! Richard was also Bulldog Drummond in "Deadlier Than The Male," and don't forget, he was the Doctor in "Zombi 2!" Richard is still working and was in at least 3 projects this year!

Sydne Rome is the annoying Flicky! She wants to be Bulldog Drummond's assistant, but her aim is not always true, in fact, she's just a little twisted! This was Sydne's first on screen appearance and she's kept working ever since, and this year she appeared in the TV mini-series called "Anna Karénina" as Principesse Scerbàtskaja! Wow, now that's a mouthful!

The honourable Robert (BEAT THE DEVIL, THEATRE OF BLOOD) Morley has the role of Miss Mary!

 "Some Girls Do" just go around looking for trouble!

Some beautiful girls like to get all decked out, sit in trees, and shoot at things!!

Ronnie (COCKTAILS IN THE KITCHEN, NOGGIN THE NOG) Stevens as Peregrine Carruthers, provides the mostly unneeded comedy relief!

Classic portrait of the Bulldog!!

Beba (WOMAN IS A WONDERFUL THING) Loncar as Pandora holds what might look like a transistor radio, but in reality is a sonic disruptor capable of killing!

I could have easily come up with twice as many stills from this movie, it's that much fun to look at most of the time!

The Graham sisters Doris and Dora, as the twin bartenders, were a mild distraction for about 30 seconds!

You know this shot wants to make you see this movie! Between his jump suit, and their shower shoes.....What else could you possibly want?

James (THESE ARE THE DAMNED, THE NANNY) Villiers is Carl Petesen! Yes, they had to ruin the whole thing by having a guy pulling all the strings in the background! Carl hosts a party for his new friends dressed as The Duke of Wellington! The very lovely Israeli born actress Daliah Lavi keeps the movie interesting! Daliah wasn't in all that many movies, but the ones she has been in would make a very nice collection, like THE RETURN OF DR.MABUSE, THE WHIP AND THE BODY, THE DEMON, TEN LITTLE INDIANS, THE SILENCERS, and CASINO ROYALE!

This looks like more of a cast ensemble picture, but it is actually a shot from the film!

More than anything, this movie is just eye candy for spy pervs!

That'll fix 'em, blow the sons a bitchin' bitches to Hell, and that freak leader of theirs too!

THE NEW AVENGERS - "The Last Of The Cybernauts...??" (1979)

It's Weird Wednesday time again down in The Dungeon, and what do you know, it's the third and last tale of The Cybernauts. I didn't have the means to do this, and lo, and behold, Lord Litter finds it for me! How that works, I have no clue, but I'm just glad it does!

Twelve years passed before they brought The Cybernauts back for the final appearance, BUT, I'm willing to bet that some day in the future, The Avengers will appear again in some form, and when they do, I'm sure there will be yet another encounter with The Cybernauts.

"The New Avengers" ran for 26 episodes in the late 70's. It had been almost ten years since Patrick Macnee played John Steed, and they passed most of the heavy lifting over to Joanna (Some Girls Do) Lumley as Purdey, and a different male lead, Gareth (Arak in Dr. Who) Hunt as Mike Gambit. Gareth passed away in 2007, and Joanna is still working today.

Purdey is all woman!! The kind that can climb a chain link fence in a dress, kick your butt after she gets over it, and still look gorgeous the whole time. Wikipedia says they were going to originally call her Charley, and that Joanna came up with the name Purdey, which was also the name of a shotgun manufacturer.

Why is this guy standing on John Steed's head you might ask?

The whole room is full of images of John Steed, Gambit and Purdey, and not because this guy is a big fan, instead, it's just the opposite, blaming them for his condition!

Sorry, but it doesn't pay to be a jerk, and it doesn't pay to mess with The Avengers, new or old!

Freakface Felix Kane is the double agent out for revenge! He's not happy!

When things go his way, he has his assistant help him put on his happy face!

Robert (Rentadick) Gillespie as Frank Goff just got out of prison after 10 years, and has been abducted by Felix Kane, because Frank was the guy who built the first Cybernauts for Dr. Armstrong. Felix wants to get the program going again.

But Frank is merely a mechanic to Felix. He was able to get The Cybernauts going again, but Felix wants to move ahead, and for that he needs a scientist, not a mechanic, so he disposes of Frank like a piece of litter tossed out of the car!

The Cybernaut designs didn't improve much in 10 years, but they are still dangerous!

Purdey might be pretty, but she can't spell. She tries to pass 'sighbernort' off as 'cybernaut' in a Scrabble game with Gambit.

Felix reveals his disfigured face, but we don't get to see it now, or ever!

The new Cybernaut is on a tear. They kidnapped a scientist, but he needs some of his highly guarded equipment to do what Felix demands, so they send The Cybernaut out to get it.

This is just a great WTF!? shot!!

Here's the thing about Cybernauts, you can't fight them and win, and you can't shoot them, but pushing them so they drop eight or nine stories is pretty efficient!

Felix doesn't mind losing The Cybernaut, because what he really wants is to become a living Cybernaut himself!

Just like Mrs. Peel, Purdey has a wide variety of outfits that she wears!

It's literally fitting since Joanna was one of the world's leading top models in the swingin' 60's, before becoming an actress.

Felix Kane's style on the other hand is questionable!

Felix and Purdey have quite the battle, when Steed shows up with what I thought was spray paint, and all three Avengers douse Kane, and once again, The Cybernaut comes to a complete halt.

What I thought was paint was actually liquid skin, and that brings us to what I also thought was a strange way to finish off The Cybenauts once and for all!

PAGAN ISLAND / A Secret Island Ruled by Nature's Own Exotic Young Maidens! - 1961

Here's a wild tale about the survivor of a shipwreck who finds himself on an island populated only by scantily clad native girls. This was on a Something Weird double feature with THE FIEND OF DOPE ISLAND, which I reviewed recently.

It stars Eddie Dew as the shipwrecked William Stanton. Eddie ended up with 104 acting credits from 1936 to 1969. Some of the movies he appeared in are THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1939), MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR SATAN, CITIZEN kANE, THE FALCON TAKES OVER, CAT PEOPLE, SUNSET BLVD. and THEM!. The rest of the cast are basically nobodies with only one acting credit, just a bunch of cute girls with nice boobs that had nothing else to do!

The story starts with William and his native girl friend in a life raft on the ocean, a passing ship sees them and picks them up...

The Captain and the first mate tend to William and want to know what him and the girl were doing in the raft. After he has recovered a bit, William tells them what has happened...

He says that his ship went down and he escaped on a life raft only to end up on the shore of some island. As he explores the place, he comes across three native women he communicates with, and learns that there are no other men on the island, just him!..

The girls take him to their village where he's given a hut to stay in. The women are unsure of what to do with having a man on the island.

I guess the highlight of the movie, besides the obvious, is this giant wooden tiki god! Anyway, the girls love to dance around the monster, and, we love watching them trip the light fantastic!

Back at his hut after the festivities, William, drunk, simply cannot believe his freaking good luck, man oh man, is this what heaven feels like?..

Like I said, the girls can't figure out what they want to do with William. When a girl tells him that men in a canoe are coming their way, he tells her to cut him down so that he can get his gun! And she does.

These guys from a neighboring island show up, and you can figure out why they're there. Well, William guns them all down with his pistol, all of them!

Well, William has fallen for one of the girls, and, she looks great there dancing with that big old wooden monster...

William gets greedy when he finds some underwater caves that have a hidden treasure buried there. His girl helps him recover some of the gems in a chest.

But when they take the raft away from the island, they are lost and can only hope for a ship to come by. Thing is, his girl has died and the treasure is lost. So, a perfect tale for Friday the 13th, basically the ides of March! Tune in tomorrow when Eegah!! will try and satisfy our need for the wild and the weird!
