THEY CAME FROM BEYOND SPACE - James Stevens/Philip Martell - "The End" (1967)

The spaceship in the living room routine is one of my favorites, what better place to hide an alien invasion! It could be happening in your neighbor's house right now!! 

 

Robert Hutton is forever a fave around here, and every bit as cool and suave as 007 all the way! Give the cat a break, James Bond never had to deal with aliens from outer space!! 

 

And what a gas of a cool car he drives, those aliens don't stand a chance!!! 

 

You're only going to get one warning, never, ever trust anyone you know or have met whose name is Lee, they are absolutely, and without a doubt Aliens! You got your conspiracy theories, I got mine, you've been warned!! 

 

The "Star Torture" room is unparalleled in film history, right up to, and including these guys, Adonis & Hercules, the alien door guards! 

 

"They Came From Beyond Space" is another one of those movies we didn't quite give enough space the first time around back in October of last year, so here is the music from the "Ending Credits" of this Freddie Francis classic. There's some extra bonus stuff, but, it's kind of a reprise of the beginning, so what else is new? It's some stylish music from composer James Stevens and conductor Phillip Martell, and well worth another listen!! Stevens did some great work in the movies, Martell's career is legendary! Dig in kids!!!

Marlin Skiles dude like premanent fixture in music dept. in golden years of Hollywood! He also do tons of uncredited stock music for flick like QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, THE HYPNOTIC EYE, SPACE MONSTER and WILD GALS OF THE NAKED WEST!!!Disembodied Music!

 You see, Allison have voodoo doll! 

 

She like to play fun game with it!.. Well, fun for her!!

 She pull hard and choke guy she hate because he SOB! 

 

HA HA!!.. Stupid jerkface!!.. You get what diserrrv... Hey, wait!... That her husband!!

 Oops!.. Allison have to quit choking, somebody come! 

 

In spare time, Allison like to play with neighbor kids!.. She good dancer too!!

 Dudes come from out of town to watch Allison and pals!!

 Then, she pick up big sharp knife! (Like one in Tabonga heart!) Hey, look how they fix her top, Allison have too much cleavage for little boy who go to monster movie back then!!

DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS - Tubby Hayes - "Give Me Love & More" (1965)

"Dr. Terror's House Of Horror's" is a 1965 Amicus production that consists of a series of short horror vignettes. Even though this film utilized the talents of Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Michael Gough, the part that shines includes lesser known talent! 

 

It's a lucky day for all you jazz purists, because one of the small stories was about a jazz musician who decides to adapt some voodoo music into a modern jazz number. The results are quite interesting, to say the least!!! The man responsible for the musical segments in this part of the film was a cat named Tubby Hayes, who you can see here playing the sax. You can read more than I could ever tell you about Tubby by reading this bio Tubby Hayes: The Long Shadow Of The Little Giant by Simon Spillett. Be ready to be amazed by Tubby Hayes!! 

 

The musical segments in this film are beyond compare, and here you are so lucky to hear Russ Henderson deliver some authentic Calypso music with "Everybody Got Fun"!!! 

 

So Biff Baily's band gets a gig in the West Indies. A lot of the people there are wearing the same kind of jewelry and the band seems a bit out of place! 

 

Biff, being the consummate musician treks into the jungle to write down some tab from the local musicians! 

 

Seems like Biff, even though very naive and innocent, is in a lot of trouble! 

 

Somehow Biff manages to live through the whole ordeal, and come back to the states and present his new tune!! Mr. Acker Bilk of "Stranger On The Shore" fame was scheduled to play the role of Biff Baily, but had a heart attack and was replaced by actor, acclaimed tap dancer and talented trumpet player Roy Castle! 

 

Here's one last chance to see Tubby and Roy together! 

 

The quintet plays the hot voodoo number and for some reason the wind kicks up from Hell! 

 

"That was Voodoo, Man!!"

 The music in in "Dr Terror's House Of Horrors" is a right off the top shelf, and without a doubt, in the top five jazz horror films of the 50's or 60's along with "Dementia" and "The Dead One." Get it!!!

THE ISLAND MONSTER aka (Mostro dell'isola, Il) / Italy - 1954 / Music by Carlo Innocenzi

It Tuesday night, so, Tabonga cue up obscure Karloff flick for you... It have the term 'Island,' it have the term 'Monster' so, it make it for us here at dungeon!! Give big listen to... Island Night Club Keep in mind, 1954 Italy! US version release 1957. Music by Carlo Innocenzi. Guy born in 1899! and do over 130 movies!!! Wow, tons sword and sandal to boot, one is ATLAS AGAINST THE CYCLOPS! 

 

To prove flick about island, here boat! 

 

Boris very bad boy here, into kidnapping, poison, extortion, murder. Hero the other guy, undercover fuzz! Look at silly girl in background that keep looking at camera! 

 

Hero try to find lead at night club. 

 

Tabonga not smoke anymore, since, start nose on fire!!

 Something about gurl on left Tabonga like! And, look, bartender like other something! 

 

Boy, dance moves totally mezmerize rocket surgeons!! 

 

This one still save whole flick! See!.. Tabonga workin' hard for you!!

THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD - Bernard Herrmann - "Theme & Fight Scenes" (1958)

"The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad" is kind of like the "Forbidden Planet" of sword and sorcery films. I mean, for me, it just doesn't get any better, and in fact, it really should be presented as a Sunday Night Classic, but there just ain't enough Sundays, and we do have to get to the end of this thing sometime! This particular film has been written about so many times, all there is left for us is to present you with this piece of music and a couple of pictures! So without further delay, here's the jackhammer theme from "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad" combined with some interesting bits and pieces from a couple of other scenes, and it's all brought to you by the master Bernard Herrmann, who, yes, also composed the music for Hitchcock's "Psycho" among his many, many fantastic accomplishments!!! Stand back, because the theme alone will knock you down! If you've seen this film, it should be pretty obvious what scenes the rest of the music is coming from!!  

 

Kerwin Mathews and Kathryn Grant are perfect the whole way! 

 

Kerwin lands a nice right in this well choreographed fight scene!

 I've probably seen this film 300 times and Torin Thatcher as Sokurah the Magician still creeps me out!!

 The Ray Harryhausen designed cyclops alone is enough reason to see this movie, but there is so very much more!! 

 

50 years later and the skeletons and other animations in this film still look great!!! Thanx Ray!! 

 

I don't know Sinbad, are you sure we're going the right way???

So, they're really in a pickle, and Princess Parisa rubs the lamp!!

 

Out pops child actor Richard Eyer as The Genie in one of the best uses of hot and cold lighting you'll ever see! Richard had enough of Hollywood and retired from film making in 1967, but is alive and well today!

 

Even "The End" looks good!!! What a great movie all the way, truly a classic!!!
