VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS - Beau Brummels - "Woman" (1965)

We have definitely decided around here that "Village Of The Giants" is one of the best 'worst movies' ever made; so extra BIG, it's overflowing! We love it & all the music is topnotch, and above all else, Boss!!! This song "Woman" by the Beau Brummels is used to the hilt, but that's why it's important to have good music!! Woman Woman with Dialogue Woman With Ducks Here's a studio version, a version with dialogue from the bar scene, & the reprise where they bring in the Giant Ducks, so you can ponder the idiosyncrasies! "Woman, Oh, Woman!" "Hey, Let's get some beer over here!" These people REALLY were PARTY MONSTERS!!!!!!

FURANKENSHUTAIN TAI CHITEI KAIJU BARAGON (Frankenstein Conquers The World) - Akira Ifukube - "Opening Credits" (1965)

Working the same common ground as Masaru Satô in the Japanese giant monster music realm, Akira Ifukube had a number of equally impressive outings. "Frankenstein Conquers The World" had three completely separate party scenes, so there was a whole lot of music going on. Here's the music from the opening credits, just to whet your appetite! SEDDOK, L'EREDE DI SATANA (Atom Age Vampire) - Armando Trovajoli - "Opening Credits" (1960)

Just reading the list of films that Armando Trovajoli composed the music for made my head start spinning. Some people are so productive, this cat was composing music for 5 to 10 films a year since 1953! There was a whole bunch of Hercules films, & an assortment of other titles & genres. Besides "Atom Age Vampire," there was "My Uncle The Vampire," "Little Girls And High Finance," "Werewolf In A Girl's Dormitory," "Planets Around Us," one of the first films ever to feature cyborgs, and a few 100 other titles! Hoist your glasses high, for a toast to Armando! Grazie!

 

Atom Age Vampire Here's the opening credits from "Atom Age Vampire" coupled up with another short little musical scene. The credits start out fully orchestrated & sappy with church bells chiming, then the sleazy sax kicks in & takes it to another level.

DAIKYOJU GAPPA (Monster From A Prehistoric Planet) - Seitaro Omori - "Monster Reunion" (1967)

"Daikyojû Gappa" has one of the sappiest scenes ever put on film, this reunion between the Monsters is just so touching, with it's horrible humming and screeching, roaring gawdawful strings. We hope you enjoy it as much as Tabonga does!!

CARNIVAL OF SOULS - Gene Moore - "At The Bar" (1962)

Of all characters, this couple really creeps me out! She's not a pig, according to his friend, but is a mouse as far as he is concerned. He's a weasel jerk, but she only wants to be with him! They're both nuts, so I guess they just deserve each other, and we deserve to hear the cool sleaze on the jukebox by Gene Moore & just wait til they go up to the room. Candace Hilligoss is terrifically icky as Mary Henry. Sidney Berger who plays loser John Linden, was only in 2 movies, this one & another movie by Wes Craven made in 1988, called, you guessed it, "Carnival Of Souls," & went on to be the head of the Drama Department at the University Of Houston! FORBIDDEN PLANET - Bebe & Louis Barron - "Main TItle" (1956)

"Forbidden Planet" is probably THE best movie ever made, period. It's all been said, & it's all true! It is amazing! This film has made an impression on our collective minds to last a Krell's lifetime or longer! You get Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Jack Kelly, Earl Holiman & Robby The Robot, an incredible score of the future, that actually makes sense from the ever so talented Barrons, Disney special effects & a look unlike anything ever seen before or since! Not to forget, the scariest monster ever to walk the face of any planet, your mind!! Mandatory viewing for any lover of the genre. In a perfect world of the future we'll all have a copy!! Id's all up to you now!

IL PIANETA DEGLI UOMINI SPENTI (Battle Of The Worlds) - Mario Migliardi - "Outsider Music" (1961)

Mario M. also did the music for the 1968 German laughfest, "Der Turm Der Verbotenen Liebe," which had the English title "The Tower Of Screaming Virgins."

Why did they have to have a guy named Cornfield? That's what we need to know. Everything else is fairly self-explanatory, but Dr. Cornfield? Don't get it! Anyway, despite that, this is a pretty exciting scene with equally interesting 'future' type music, especially for 1961. So they figured out how to get to the "Outsider" by using oscillators as music, what genius!!! Turn it up Loud for maximum effect!!!
