Well, well, well... What chew kno? It Wednesday Oldie Black + White Flick Night already once again, even!

Tonight star is famous WIZARD OF OZ Tin Man, Jack Haley, who started film career in 1927. Last appearance was in NEW YORK, NEW YORK in 1977. SCARED STIFF was small time production made just before end of WWII.

Alternate TREASURE OF FEAR title card kickin' A!! Music is by the great Mr. Alexander Laszlo! A few thing Alex work on: BLACK MAGIC, ONE BODY TOO MANY, HOT CARGO, TARZAN'S MAGIC FOUNTAIN, ROCKY JONES, SPACE RANGER, THE INVISIBLE MOUSTACHE OF RAOUL DUFY, RENEGADE SATELLITE, NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST, FORBIDDEN ISLAND, BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE, and, last thing he work on... ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES!

Eegah!! even throw in the kitchen sink for this 'assorted nuts' soundclip!! Whoa! Did you see that?!.. Tabonga' pet gnat Piff just give hip block to pet tarantula Ralphie an' race over to be winner of what gets to push big old giant red 'GO' button, so, hit it Piffer!!.. TREASURE OF STIFFS!! You can say, instead of monkey, Tabonga have UFO on back!

Jack play Larry, jittery chess editor for newspaper. He get the call to go on bus ride for new assignment.

Grape City and Grape Center easy to get all mix up when you distracted by cute gurlie in line while getting ticket at bus station!.. Right, Larry?

He's an Eskimo in Alaska!

Okay, everbloody off bus for creepy tavern destination. Larry actually end up at wrong place and not even know it, what else!

Ah, ship in a bottle! Just another weirdo that live at tavern.

Kid tryin' to put make on lady... One second later, door slam in face!!

Okay, here is horn bit!

Always nice to see good ol' Dick Curtis, playing wild an' crazy bus driver here!

I gotta get out of here...

Larry try to escape but not get very far.

**Now, guy here who catch Larry is dead ringer for Dungeon star Rodney Lee who play Eddie, The Creep in THE CREEP (you can purchase here) and who also play evil assistant Pluto in Dungeon second flick, SILVER ANGEL vs THE DEATH ZOMBIES! Eegah!! and Tabonga! play robots in that one too!

Here is owners of tavern, weird! In old day, when you mad at somebloody upstair, you bang ceiling hard with broom or cane!

Even though Larry get hogtied, he come back and play silly tricks on bad guy!

Everything look bad until police show up and shoot killer and then Larry make bad guy fall into big vat of wine!

They just get fish out of wine vat and want to know... How dry I am?

I think that's Ann Savage. Have you seen "Detour"?
http://retrovision.tv/freevideo/detour-1945/
She died less than a year ago. Her last film was the strange documentary "My Winnipeg" in 2007.

So I think you should devote a month of Wednesday Oldies to revisiting the films of John Agar or Beverly Garland.
I've been having daydreams about the creaky, public domain, midnite movies I would watch on saturday nights during high school, before they were replaced by reruns of Friends and ER.
It doesn't get much weirder or satisfying than "The Brain from Planet Arous", "Zontar, Thing From Venus" and "Five Fingers of Death".

Also - get this book - it's classic!
"It Came From Bob's Basement"
by Bob Burns

BTW - GREAT BLOG!!

Thanx Brett!! Dig a little deeper and you'll find we've already done "Brain From Planet Arous" and "Zontar" and other films with John Agar and/or Beverly Garland like "Alligator People" and "Neanderthal Man." Look for more in the future!
