MICKEY MOUSE In "The Mad Doctor" / Disney - 1933

I wuz watching some old Thunderbean cartoons yesterday and came across this wild Mickey Mouse cartoon. What I noticed was that Disney cartoons were a cut above the average laff!

This thing has Mickey, Pluto, a Chicken and a Mad Doctor in a very weird tale of Horror!!

It starts on a stormy, rainy night. The still shows Mickey's house as a lightning bolt lights up the place, you can see the beautiful artwork the Disney team was capable of!

Well, Pluto goes missing... He's being taken by a phantom character for some unknown reason, to an old castle built on a bolder that looks like a giant skull.

Mickey follows them and is pulled through the door as he holds on to the bell ringing cord! You can see that the place belongs to DR. XXX!

Once inside, Mickey is attacked by a bunch of huge Wolvertonesque bats, so cool!

Mickey goes into a room with a blazing fireplace, he turns around to see he's surrounded by two big ghastly monsters... But, it's only iron fireplace figurines!

Then, Mickey has a few bouts with skeletons. One pops out of a pillar and blows out his match, others pop out of stairs to terrify him!

Once Pluto is secured along with a hen, the Phantom rips off his cloak to reveal who he really is... The freakin' Mad Doctor!!

Okay then, see if you can figure out the doc's equation for his experiment... Yes, he's going to cut Pluto and the hen in half, attach them together and make a new creature, a dog-chicken that lays eggs!!

Gee whiz, I wonder why they call him the Mad Doctor!

Mickey's still trying to locate Pluto and falls into a giant spider web with a bony spider!

In the lab, the doctor shows Pluto what he has in mind, he cuts his shadow in half!!

Now it's Mickey's turn to face the saw that cuts things in half!!

But, as always when things seem a little too weird in a cartoon, well of course, it was nothing more than a bad dream! Pluto and Mickey are fine, making for a happy ending! We keep Halloween Countdown 2017 rolling along on Wednesday, be there, or...

COUNT DUCKULA - "No Sax Please, We're Egyptian" (1988)

So what kind of a Halloween can you have without a vampire? That is, a vampire that is also a vegetarian duck, just to make it a little more interesting!
And speaking of vegetarian vampires, our sponsor tonight is once again Lord Litter, who has done probably more than anyone to promote international indie music for the last 30 years or so, and doesn't seem to planning on stopping any time soon! And right here is where you can check it all out!
And here is a link to countless radio shows of incredible music that you most likely never heard before!
Velcome to another Countdown to Halloween Saturday Night Special down in The Dungeon!
"Count Duckula" was a British cartoon that ran for five years or four seasons from 1988 to 1993! I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it ain't quite normal!!
So how does a person come up with the concept of a vegetarian duck vampire? I guess you'd have to ask the writer, Jimmy (Danger Mouse) Hibbert!

Jimmy Hibbert was the main writer, but he also had lots of help, and if you watch a couple of these cartoons you will also come to the conclusion that they were a virtual pack of cards, jokers wild!

Not only is the writing Tom Terrific, but my hat goes off to all the artistes involved too!!

This is Count Duckula's castle, and just to make sure there are no limitations, it is also a time machine of sorts!

Cool Pentagram!!

Here are two portraits of some of The Count's relatives!

I like this landscape!

The story is a bit convoluted as The Count and his entourage travel back to Egypt to look into his roots! It is at this point that I would love to have given you a small sample of the music but since my software doesn't work, and this is what the software creators want me to do..
"1. Go to "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Advanced system settings" -> "Hardware" -> "Device Installation Settings" -> make sure "Yes, do this automatically" is selected -> "Save changes" (if required)2. Make sure you have the latest sound-card and MemBoard drivers, all the latest Windows Updates as well as any trusted latest Codec Pack version installed. (reboot PC after each installation)3. Please, make sure that your PC is free of malware and its not overloaded with background running software or not overloaded with severe antivirus configuration
4. When all above is done, uninstall and-> reboot PC
5. Make sure that folders below are removed: Etc. Etc...."

.......I might not have any sound samples for a while!!

There's this whole "who's on first" skit between You Be, You Are, and Not Not that's pretty funny!

You just can't go wrong with a good funny cuckoo clock!

The closing credits feature are a lot of crazy fun imagery I'm passing on to you as cool Halloween wallpaper!
I know, I know, I didn't delve into any of the other interesting characters on the show like Igor, and Nanny, and Sviatoslav, but that will just have to wait until another time, because I will be back with more of "Count Duckula" some day! Of that, I guarantee!

BAG Of HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN MEXICAN LOBBY CARD EYE CANDY!

Here's an early bag o' eye candy from our buddies south of the border, it's a mixed bag of wild horror and sci-fi lobby cards to tempt your brain's happy place!

I'll lead off with THE WHITE GORILLA, this sucker pops like a firecracker in your back pocket! I'm hoping Eegah!! will dig it the most!..

Here's a wild poster for DEVIL BAT'S DAUGHTER, a fairly rare pseudo horror tale where the heroine thinks she's a vampire, but isn't...

Next is THE SPIDER WOMAN, a great Sherlock Holmes tale starring the awesome team of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce! Wow, that's a crazy looking spider!

This is the lobby card for THE MYSTERY OF THE GREEN SPIDER, a West German murder mystery with some very cool music and spider webs, if you believe the poster!

Here's a colorful card for CAT-WOMEN OF THE MOON, it has dancing Moon girls and an insert of the rocket from DESTINATION MOON!!

I've even included another cool lobby card for TARGET EARTH, great images with some flying saucers, one looks like the saucer from THIS ISLAND EARTH.

Love this poster for IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, it looks like it could be a paperback cover!!

Here's a very nice card for TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE with cool images of destruction!

This is an interesting card for THE GHOST JESTERS, obviously a Mexican comedy where the ghosts of a couple are invoked from the beyond by accident by a scam artist.

I've always loved these lobby cards from THE AZTEC MUMMY and THE AZTEC MUMMY VERSES THE HUMAN ROBOT. Nice layouts and colors make them very desirable collector items!

Here's a great card for THE SHIP OF MONSTERS, a fun little Mexican flick. Notice again, the spaceship shown is from DESTINATION MOON, I still have this card in my collection!

This lobby card for BLUE DEMON in HELLISH SPIDERS is pretty kitsch, the insert shows Fernando Osés as the guy with the spider hand!

Here's a wild card from SANTO in ANONYMOUS DEATH THREAT, has a mix of Christian crosses verses Nazi swastikas to get the point across!

Our last card is for RIFIFI A GO-GO, dude doesn't need to be so damn serious, loosen up, it's just go-go girls!! Join us again tomorrow when Eegah!! should have something special for us!
