The 1950's HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES Of VINCENT PRICE

Here are Vinnie's horror and sci-fi flicks from the fifties. Man, he was such an icon, just so perfect for his roles, he could be the likable good guy, or, he could be the most evil man on Earth!.. We salute you, Mr. Dungeon Hero!

First up is HOUSE OF WAX from 1953, originally released in 3-D. Vinnie plays Prof. Henry Jarrod, horribly scarred by fire, full of revenge for the ones responsible for the crimes against him!.. Great make up job, I mean, like, really creepy!!

In 1954 Vinnie stars as the devious Gallico the Great in THE MAD MAGICIAN. Although the movie was filmed in black and white, it was also released in 3-D to thrill the audiences back then!

Vinnie then stars as Omar Khayyam in the lighthearted SON OF SINBAD in 1955. Here he is with a group of harem girls that would make anyone happy!

He gets to play The Devil with gusto in THE STORY OF MANKIND in 1957, a strange flick with a pile of famous actors to fill out the lineup!

Vinnie hits his stride in 1958 with THE FLY as François Delambre, brother of the title character. Saw this one the same year, scared the crap out of me. Also, a very sad flick...

In 1959, he stars as Frederick Loren in the William Castle classic, HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL. Again, you can never tell if he's the good guy or the bad guy, another perfect role for him!

I also saw RETURN OF THE FLY in 1959, Vinnie returns (ha ha) as the uncle of the new Fly monster. This is one whacked out movie, but, very enjoyable seeing that big old fly head!

Vinnie's back in 1959 in another William Castle classic, THE TINGLER... What's the wildest part of this movie is that Dr. Chapin (Vinnie) shoots himself up with LSD!!!

Our last offering is THE BAT from 1959, Vinnie stars as Dr. Wells who teams up with Agnes Moorehead in this mystery thriller... Welp, there you go, we're back on Wednesday with even more, from, The Dungeon!!

THE OUTER LIMITS - "Valerie 23" (1995)

I never saw any of this version of "The Outer Limits" when it aired on TV in the 1990's, so it's was all new to me, and I didn't really know what to expect when watching this, but I was pleasantly surprised because it's actually pretty good from what I've seen so far!

Some people do Taco Tuesdays, we do Saturday Night Specials, although a fish taco does sound pretty good right about now, and would fit right with in this story!

I heard on the radio this week that because of new laws, the state of Nevada was going to allow all of the current medicinal marijuana outlets to turn into recreational marijuana stores! Do you know what that means? Las Vegas is now poised to become the cannabis capitol of the western hemisphere! I can just see it, in no time at all there will be pot shops in casinos handing out free samples, and probably even a completely new Cannabis Casino with stoner inspired slot machines with big MJ leaves on them. I wish I knew how to make money off of it, because I guarantee it's going to be a sure bet!!

"Valerie 23" was the second episode of the first season of this new version of "The Outer Limits" that continued on for seven seasons!

This is the new Garden of Evil, I mean Eden!

After all, we are all just pawns in this game the big shots play, today more so than ever!

Her name is Valerie! She's programmed to be the prefect woman!
The reason that I spell perfect prefect, is because nothing is perfect in this world, including Valerie!

The woman of your dreams is Valerie 23, and the gal who played her should be equally the woman of your dreams! Valerie 23 was played by Greek goddess and Canadian actress and singer Sofia (The Crow) Shinas! That song, "One Last Kiss" is really quite listenable! Three years later Sofia would be in another "Outer Limits" episode called "Mary 25" where she once again has a role as a robot! Right now she has a total of 13 credits to her name, the last being last year! Very talented gal, do you
 "Get The Message?"

I thought this was just a regular TV show, so I was kinda shocked when Lord Litter told me there was full frontal nudity, but it's quite tastefully done, and Valerie is beautiful!

It's funny how many things don't look dated, but phones always do! I don't believe that anything has changed as dramatically as phones in the last 141 years!

I've loved Nancy Allen in everything I've ever seen of hers from "Carrie" to "Dressed To Kill" to "Blow Out" to "RoboCop!" She's just too cute! Nancy is still around, but she quit acting in 2008!

Valerie might be a robot, but she's tired of being home alone!

William Sadler is the handicapped guy who should be enjoying Valerie's company! It's kind of ironic that William was in a film called "Off Beat" in 1986, the same title as our public access TV show!
 No, I don't want a cookie!

Valerie is programmed to cook, clean, and make love! There's only one problem! She's real enough to feel very possessive and jealous! I would have loved to have seen a movie with her and the android "Westworld" version of Yul Brynner as a couple in a sitcom or something! Man, would that have been great?

Valerie freaks out, and turns into super bitch, so they have to deprogram her, but she's smarter than that, and detaches herself and escapes!

Valerie hitches a ride on the top of her unsuspecting boyfriend's car!

Only halfway reassembled, Valerie looks a fright in Nancy Allen's lingerie!

Valerie has the cyber strength of 13 WWE wrasslers, and puts a serious sleeper hold on Nancy!

William manages to finally get Valerie short circuited!

The final scene is just sick!! Poor Valerie, the victim of bad science! What a shame! If he could have just loved her like she was programmed to care for him, there could have been a happy ending, but No.......because this is "The Outer Limits," and that's pretty far out there!

SANTO vs. EL ESPECTRO DEL ESTRANGULADOR / Cinematográfica Norte, Estudios América - 1966

I'll end the month with this fun Santo flick, this follow up story starts with the recovery of the body of the Strangler, who had died at the hands of the police at the conclusion of the first film. The disfigured killer is taken to the city morgue, and, reading of the killer's death in the newspaper, Tor, the Strangler's assistant, heads for the morgue to take back his master's body. It seems though, the Strangler isn't actually dead!.. After being revived at his hideout, the Strangler vows revenge. There are shades of the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA going on, the Strangler is facially scarred, spends his free time playing his pipe organ and hangs out at the Opera House...

Tor has recovered the Strangler from the morgue and takes him to their hideout, there, the presumed dead maniac bounces back and plays his evil heart out on his creepy sounding organ!

It's Tor's job to sculpt the masks to be worn by the Strangler. Tor reminds me of the Charles Bronson character in HOUSE OF WAX starring Vincent Price from 1953.

Santo gets captured by the Strangler's goons and is put under a pile driver! Don't worry though, our hero escapes this infernal device by the skin of his ass!

Great shot of the Strangler as his ascends a ladder in the stinky old sewer system, it's how him and Tor get around without being seen!

Wow, Santo had some great crime labs in his early films, this is probably the best one!

Our hero tracks down the villains in the cemetery, and after battling it out, Santo is freakin' buried alive!! After pushing up on the earth above him, he barely escapes the death trap!

The Strangler's a tricky dude, he has a mask made from a detective in order to infiltrate the Opera House, where he has an evil plan he wants to implement...

The plan is to cut the rope holding the chandelier up and have it drop on the main opera star while she performs! Luckily enough, his aim is off and it misses her by a few feet!

This is insane! The Strangler kidnaps Santo's little crime buddy and beats the crap out of him!

Santo's having some problems getting to the Strangler in his hideout, so, he's forced to play Superman and bend some iron bars to get to the crazy killer!.. Damn!!

But, the Strangler is a really tough dude and brings it on! He knocks a huge metal whatchacallit over onto our downed hero and it looks like he's out for the count...

Luckily, the place catches fire and the Strangler actually dies in the flames... Hooray!!.. Hey, Dude punched a kid!.. More than once!!

Anyway, Santo makes with a twenty-three skidoo and heads for the exit, his little buddy is waiting for him in the car, making for a happy ending! Eegah!! starts off a new month for us tomorrow, so's, check it aus!!
