EEGAH!! & TABONGA! AT THE MOVIES 8 / The Early Sixties

I've felt like I'm a Twilight Zone episode lately, so, it's no wonder that I just sold my portable disc drive to Eegah!! and the disc drive on my sound computer went kaput yesterday. Good news is that I bought one on Amazon last night. Hopefully I'll be back in business on Friday... In the meantime, here's our 8th installment of Eegah!! and Tabonga! at the movies!

This title card has to be one of the best looking ones from the sixties... Wow!!

THE BRIDES OF DRACULA made us happy campers, Hammer kicked ass with their take on all the classic monsters. Throw in a pile of sexy vampire girls and you gots a wiener!!

We loved Hammer Sci-Fi too, VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED delivered the goods for us. Those glowing eyes looked so cool before they turned human brains into mush!

THE MONSTER OF PIEDRAS BLANCAS was trying to compete with Universal's Creature, but, you can see when lit wrong, the monster looks more goofy than frightening. It was an okay flick for us because it had a freakin' rubber monster...

The artwork for WEREWOLF IN A GIRL'S DORMITORY was top notch, there's mucho eye appeal.

And, cute school girls always look great in any motif!..

We loved TERROR FROM THE YEAR 5000, it had such cool hardware and one wild looking mutant. Even though it was made in 1958, they shelved it until 1961, I think we saw it with INVASION OF THE STAR CREATURES. Check in again on Wednesday for our last March post.

Welcome to THE HOUSE OF TERROR!!

How's this for wacky? Since starting this site almost four years ago, we've had close contact with 13 Frightened Girls, 13Ghosts, 2 On A Guillotine, and 12 To The Moon!

We've experienced the spectral wonders of Ghost Catchers, Ghosts Gone Gear, Ghosts From Dragstrip Hollow and Hanley House, not to mention the Ghosts On Patrol, and On The Loose!!

We've made contact with Beasts from 20,000 Fathoms, Haunted Caves, Hollow Mountains, Yellow Nights, Yucca Flats, Morocco, and with A Million Eyes!

We've seen Terror from The Haunted House, Beneath The Sea, In The Midnight Sun, and in The Year 5000!

And we've heard a lot of great music along the way, from Thriller, Spy and Surf movies too, like this rockin' tune from "Bikini Beach," "Gotcha Where I Wantcha" by Candy Johnson and The Exciters, one of my favourite musical numbers from any kind of movie!

We've been Cursed by Frankenstein, Faceless Men, The Fly, The Headless Horseman, The Werewolf, The Stone Hand, The Swamp Creature, The Snake Woman, The Voodoo, and The Mummy's Tomb!!

We've had good days, and bad days, there was The Day The Earth Caught Fire, and The Day The Sky Exploded, and finally, The Day The World Ended, but even that didn't stop us!

We've seen Frankenstein in 1910, 1970, and 80, and we've seen him Conquer The World, and Meet The Space Monster! And if that wasn't enough, we've also seen Frankenstein's Castle Of Freaks, his Bloody Terror, his Island, and his met his Daughter!

We've been assaulted by Creatures From The Haunted Sea, and The Black Lagoon, and Creatures with Blue Hands and Atom Brains!

We've been subjected to Attacks of 50 Foot Women, Crab Monsters, Giant Leeches, Puppet People, Mushroom People, and Robots!

We've witnessed Santo and Blue Demon fending off attacks from Monsters, Black Magic, Cerebro Del Mal, Dr Muerte, Diabolicus, and Las Invasoras!

We've witnessed the marriage to Brides of Blood, Dracula, The Gorilla, Fu Manchu, and The Monster!

We've ridden the Horror Express, stayed at the Horror Hotel and the Horror House On Highway Five, got down at the Horror Of Party Beach, and been generally horrified by Spider Island, Zombies, Blood Monsters, and Black Museums, and for what?

It's been one Helluva struggle all the way, but we do it all for you!!

THE KILLER SHREWS / Hollywood Pictures - 1959 / Music by Harry Bluestone & Emil Cadkin

Welcome to Tabonga' Thursday posting here at Dungeon... Tonight' offering is nutty lil' flick by Hollywood Picture they film in Texas, not Hollywood!!.. Texas good at suspension of disbelief!

Get ready for this, music composer Harry Bluestone work on only three other movie besides THE KILLER SHREWS!.. One was in 2007!!!

Music dude Emil Cadkin have 13 composing credit which include TERROR FROM THE YEAR 5000!

Best part of tonight' sound clip is when Rook get attack by Shrews and scream like little gurl! So here ya go!.. KILLER POOCHIES IN SHREW CLOTHING!

Out in ocean, James Best and pal Rook notice it might sprinkle so high-tail it to nearest island!.. Rook play by Judge Henry Dupree who act in just one more flick.

Wow, Rook head look almost perfectly round!

Rook have to wait back at dock while James go relax wif' local bigshot scientist and lovely daughter Ingrid Goude... And, you know, one drink lead to another!!.. Ever'thing's cool, daddy-o! Just pour another one right in there, palsie!

Then with no warning!!.. Super weirdo science nerd Dr. Radford Baines barge in and break up party with super important announcement that can't wait for even 2 second more or he gonna have one big heart attack!!

Tabonga notice in this flick and THE UNDEAD... They start filming before paint dry on the walls!!

Ever'bloody so drunk they forget that Rook is only spicy meatball on island and it Shrew' snacktime!! He try to climb high in flimsy tree and it break!.. Too late for diet he was thinking about as he become part of cycle of life!.. Shrew Chow! An' well, 'judging' from soundclip, he sound pretty delicious!!

Here two disgusting sights, Mario' leg while Shrew gobble on it, and Ken Curtis who play total ass-wipe Jerry!!

James have hair-brain idea that just might work! Put a bunch o' upside down barrell with eye slot together an' ever'bloody waddle out to water and then swim out to boat to safety!! Sound simple enough!

More spookier than it seem when on drawing board and drunk as hell!

What, you not think they not barely make it and Ken not get all chew up by Shrews, do you?!.. And, Tabonga love that last photo!

STAR MAIDENS - Episode #13 - "The Enemy" (1976)

Tonight's Saturday Night Special is a German/British space opera from 1976 called "Star Maidens!"

"Star Maidens" ran for one season that included 13 episodes, and it's about as close as you're ever going to get to a real space opera, or a soap opera in space!

We're going to start with the 13th episode, because I have no idea if I will ever watch any of the other episodes, but this one I found for free on the Internet Archive!

These two shots look like they're right off the cover of some ACE or Ballantine paperbacks of the 60's! Sweet!!

I don't know if this is part of it, but it probably is, a lot of the filming of "Star Maidens" was shot at the Meterorological Office in Bracknell, Berkshire, England!!

Got to keep that stuff guarded!

These shots of equipment are a generally a lot more interesting than the story line!

On the left is Dawn (The Two Faces Of Dr. Jekyll) Addams as Clara, the President of the Grand Council of Medusa returning from a "Terror In The Year 5000" costume party, and on the right is Octavia as played by Christiane (The Man With The Glass Eye, Double Face) Krüger!

The leader of the Earth team is Judy (Doomwatch, Inseminoids) Geeson as Fulvia, and she is joined by these two sperm donors from outer space, Pierre (Winnetou) Brice as Adam and Gareth (Five Million Miles To Earth) Thomas as Shem! You can tell they are from space because of the bleached spots in their hair!

Shem ( and I wish his name was Shemp) has a bad reaction to something, and is no help the rest of the show.

This looks like a doctor or dentist's waiting room in the future!

The version of the space craft in space looks a lot better than......

..................The same ship on the ground which looks an awful lot like a mylar balloon!

The Enemy is SO bad, and this is just about how much you['ll ever see of him! If he has to push three buttons, he's going to get real flustered!

There's this sorta big final confrontation in space between the girls and the bad guy, but the "Star Maidens" don't believe in violence and have no weapons!

Adam saves the day by turning on their defense shield, and ramming the evil ship, because you know, you can't beat a good defense, and the bad guys run away off into space like the little computerized wimps that they are!

Fulvia smiles for the first time and is relieved that is it all over in more ways than one!!
Here's just a small taste of the music from the end of 1976 in space by Berry (Sexworld) Lipman to help you get the right feel!
