CLASSIC MONSTER MOVIE TRAILER TITLE CARDS

I have a movie trailer compilation called ALL MONSTERS ATTACK! and I noticed that the title artwork was extra weird, so, I decided to end the year at The Dungeon with this post of very cool eye candy! So, sit back and enjoy the show...

I'll start with some Japanese titles. With trailers, the title can be placed over scenes different than the actual movie title card and the lettering is extra eye catching. This RODAN trailer card shows the big bird flying by, great colors...

Here are two different trailer cards from MOTHRA. The big moth was also known as THE THING!

This YOG title card has to be one of the finest pieces of title art I can remember. I love this spaced out movie, but, the DVD will cost you at least $45! You can get a DVD-R for about $15... So you know!

Love the ATRAGON title with its moving colors through the center. Let's face it, the Japanese had some of the coolest artwork from the fifties through the seventies!

Now we have the British flick, GORGO. I'm pretty sure Eegah!! and I saw the trailer, we definiterly saw the movie at the theater and had a copy of Famous Monsters #11 GORGO cover with the great artwork by Basil Gogos!

I love this REPTILICUS title card here, that red lettering just kicks royal ass, nice!

Things got elaborate for this card for VALLEY OF GWANGI, I love the rocky mountain landscapes in this movie, filmed in Spain!

Okay, now we have some nice black and white trailer title cards to check out, here is my personal favorite card, from Corman's IT CONQUERED THE WORLD!

The lettering for THE SHE-CREATURE here is insane! See what I mean, these title cards are truly wild and weird, designed to get a nice crowd at the showing of the movie!

Check out this CALTIKI card. Man, Eegah!! and I loved this crazy film, it kept you on the edge of your seat, especially if you were two 12 year old monster nuts!

Nice shadowed lettering on this ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS card. Even though this movie is a little hokey, I love it to pieces!

Wow!!.. This lettering for ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES is simply the best! Eegah!! and I saw this one and got to hang out a bit with the director, Bernie Kowalski.

It still freaks me out a little when I remember that I was only 8 years old when I saw TARANTULA! Nice spidery lettering, what else!

More great stuff here with MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL... Boy, this is a strange movie!

Here is another card with insane lettering from THE SPIDER! The S looks like a freakin' snake!

We'll end with Dungeon Gal Pal, Allison Hayes, in her best known role in ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN... Okay, Eegah!! is back tomorrow with our last post of the year... Don't miss it.

TABONGA'S ART INFLUENCED By HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES

It's time to check out some Tabonga! Art, all influenced by Horror and Sci-Fi Movies! Most are recent pieces, all show how growing up in the Fifties warped my mind and even caused me to assume a monster's name!!.. Enjoy.

First up is THE GIANT CLAW, the atomic space vulture that came to Earth to lay its eggs and take things over with anti-matter trickery!

This alien plant thing was influenced by the creatures in THE ANGRY RED PLANET. You'll notice this one has a bug parasite coming out of its brain!

Here's another plant monster based on DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS. This one is a Fungus Triffid with deadly spores to decimate the puny human race!!

Then, there's this crawling hand from INVASION OF THE SAUCER-MEN, I've made and sold about 8 of these classic Paul Blaisdell creations so far and plan on doing more, they sell like hotcakes!

After doing the Saucer-Men crawling hands, I decided to do my own version. This is another creeping hand but has two eyes, it's actually just as shocking as the Saucer-Men version!

I've sold a pile of these guys, based on the Venusian monster in IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, another classic design by Paul Blaisdell.

Here's a freaky giant atomic-spawned killer clam, based on the ideas in ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS, one of my very favorite pieces!

I've done a few of these Meteor Monsters. inspired by the meteor-dust-coated FIRST MAN INTO SPACE. I also used this weird thing in a painting...

Here's an alien rock monster, love rock monsters! The movie I think of when rock monster is mentioned is MISSILE TO THE MOON, they are so kitschy-cool.

This is a Jungle Voodoo Bird, kinda based on the bird thing in CURUCU, BEAST OF THE AMAZON. I just bought a heap of feathers, so, looks like I'll be making monster birds for a while! In fact, I just scored a commission to make a full bodied GIANT CLAW!

I've done quite a few of these nudie jungle gals that are take-offs on VOODOO WOMAN.

This strange little thing was inspired by THE BLOB, done a bunch of these too. I love this piece, I sold it as an LSD HALLUCINATION!

Another BLOB monster, this one's a Tar-Blob that can be found on a distant alien planet!

Here's a very cool monster based on the creatures in THE GREEN SLIME, something you wouldn't want to meet up with in a dark alley! Or actually, anywhere!!

This freaky thing reminds me of the giant monster at the end of THE FLESH EATERS!

ISLAND OF TERROR inspired this piece, it's a slimy flesh-eating atomic mutation horror!

This guy is based on the wild rubber creatures featured in THE OUTER LIMITS series, I've made about 10 of them, they're always fun to build.

I've done a ton of robots too, mainly based on the DALEK bots, I think it looks cool to put eyeballs and teeth on them, makes 'em extra weird!

This totally freaked out crawling monstrosity was inspired by the British movie, ASYLUM. Remember the freezer scene with the attacking body parts?

I'm cheating on this one a bit... I got the idea from comic god, Basil Wolverton, in his story, THE BRAIN-BATS OF VENUS!

So, hope you enjoyed the show, I definitely enjoyed making these monsters. Join us again on Wednesday when Eegah!! will have another fun post to share with us!

By the way, if you're interested, you can find my artwork for sale on eBay, my seller name is 'bongo52' if you want to check them out!

HOUSE / Toho Company - 1977

Here's a wild one from Toho studios, seems like a comedy at times but the rest of the time it's just plain weird! The story goes like this... A schoolgirl and six of her classmates travel to her aunt's home in the country, which tries to devour the girls in very bizarre ways!

An interesting fact - None of the seven young actresses who portray the group of friends who visit the house were trained film actresses. The girls were models who had worked with director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi making advertisements or commercials.

Here are the six girls meeting with Angel, her aunt owns a house in the country. Check out the chroma keyed background, if you look close, you can see it's a matte painting.

The girls make it to the country home, they visit with Angel's aunt before the fun starts.

One girl finds a decapitated head in the water bucket! It flies around, then, swoops down and bites the girl on her ass!! When it finally flies away, the heads says... Tasty! Like I said, this is a weird movie and has plenty of sexual innuendo.

Angel has some trouble with the mirror in her bedroom, she even sees herself as a vampire after putting on some red lipstick!

The mirror cracks and her face falls to pieces as she turns into a fiery figure!

This gal gets beat up and smothered by her mattress and bedding, when the other girls look for her, they only find her nightgown, bra and panties!

The piano becomes a maniacal musical monster, the girl playing it becomes possessed and just can't stop playing!

The freakin' piano has chewed her fingers off!!

The other girl watching her friend playing the piano is totally confused by what she sees!

Then, the piano pulls her in and chews her into pieces, a long crazy ass scene.

The fingers come back and play a strange little tune!..

This gal gets a possessed light fixture stuck on her head as she tries to fight her way out of her super weird predicament!

A demon cat is really responsible for all the mayhem, it has brought out its fangs and claws!!

The dead girls' body parts swirl around and fly through some surreal backgrounds!

Hey, the evil old cat looks like my kitty, Zoey! Check out this wild flick when you get the chance, it's something else!! So, we're back Wednesday with more cool stuff!
