INVISIBLE GHOST In Color - 1941

Okay, here we go with another recently colorized horror classic for our enjoyment. This Astor Pictures production is very well done with great actors and nice sets. We have Dungeon Fave Bela Lugosi as Charles  Kessler, Polly Ann Young as his daughter Virginia, John McGuire as Ralph and brother Paul Dickson, Clarence Muse as Evans, Alice Dahl, Betty Compson, Ernie Adams and George Pembroke. One interesting note, Clarence Muse, a black man, played his role of Evans the servant with an almost intellectual demeanor, and spoke as a normal person. How refreshing for that time, and it's worth a watch just for that detail alone, he's great.

The complicated story goes like this... Well-to-do Charles Kessler lives with his daughter Virginia in a home where his wife left him a few years back. Virginia's fiancée Ralph Dickson is accused of killing their maid Cecile, and things go downhill from there.

It's another marriage anniversary, and Charles makes a special occasion to celebrate, in hope she will come back to him. 

Charles reminds Evans to serve Mrs. Kessler first...

In reality, Mrs. Kessler is being taken care of her in a hidden room on the grounds. She has lost her memory and is  pretty much not all there.

After Virginia and Ralph return from a drive, Evans is moving the car when he overhears Ralph and their maid Cecile arguing.

Ex-lovers, Cecile tells Ralph to lay off Virginia, or things will get ugly. Ralph tells her to go to Hell, nothing will stand between him and Virginia.

Later that night when Charles is reading, he starts to go into a trance. He goes to the window and sees his wife in the yard, she tells him that he will kill anyone!

The message finally gets through, with sheer glee, Charles goes into Cecile's room and strangles her! Too bad, he's such a nice guy otherwise.

Virginia and her dad do everything they can to save Ralph from the electric chair, but Evans has testified about what he overheard the two saying, including the 'nothing will stand in his way' quote, bummer! That's one very cool photo there.

Poor Ralph gets fried, and he didn't even do it!!

Paul Dickson shows up, he's the brother of Ralph and is invited to stay with the Kesslers. He also seems to be a help in trying to find out who the killer is, that's Police Lt. Williams on the right.

In a really creepy scene, Charles is possessed again and enters Virginia's room with the intent of killing her, but he snaps out of it when a lightning bolt hits down close to the house. He leaves the room.

Now, someone has defaced the painting of Mrs. Kessler, someone's a PSYCHO around here!

Then, Mrs. Kessler shows up looking for a meal. Two policemen find her in the kitchen and take her to Charles, where she claims that he's the one committing the murderer!

Charles goes into a trance and now everyone knows who the killer really is!

Charles starts walking like the Frankenstein monster and stumbles out of the room.

In the hallway, Charles turns and charges Lt. Williams, he get's him in a strangle hold and won't let go as Paul tries to get him to stop.

In the next room, Mrs. Kessler keels over and dies in front on the cops.

That seems to break the spell and Charles come back to reality. He's ready to face his punishment like a man and walks out the door followed by the police.

NEW WAVE THEATRE - "Episode # 2 Featuring Elvira" (1982)

 

I think it's time to perk it up a bit around here, so let's go back to 1982 for this Saturday Night Special, and one of the most irreverent music shows ever produced for TV, 

"New Wave Theatre!"

The host of the show was Peter Ivers, and you can read more background information on the show right about HERE!

 

This was the second episode and has got a little extra twist, because it was made just when Elvira was starting to host her TV show in L.A. so she shows up for a little extra advertising. I seriously doubt she got paid for this gig.

The first band of the evening was called Red Wedding fronted by a guy named Marc O.

 

The song performed by Red Wedding was called "So We Make History."

Red Wedding released this record called "Nails" in 1984.

The next band was called The Party Boys.

The Party Boys were an interesting band, and they perform a song called "High Fashion." 

 

The song "High Fashion" can be found on this 2005 two CD release.

 

Then there's this guy!

Next up was the band Bad Religion!

Bad Religion perform an upbeat song called "We're Only Gonna Die."

"We're Only Gonna Die" was the first song on this LP titled "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?"

Think or say what you will, but this show was fast paced and packed a whole lot of wild entertainment into a short amount of time. Like "The Gong Show," It would be really nice to see high quality versions of the whole thing, but I don't think that's ever going to happen!

 

Elvira does an ad for "Genkel's" that is a must-see for any fan of hers, or actually anybody!!

The next band was Monitor, and was fronted by Keith Mitchell.

Another member of Monitor was Laurie O'Connell.

The song performed by Monitor was called "I Saw Dead Jim's Shade" and came off of this 1981 album.

The last band on this episode was a very cool band called The Brainiacs.

"New Wave Theatre!" It rocked in 1982, and continues to rock in 2022.

COURAGEOUS CAT And MINUTE MOUSE In "The Case Of The Moon Giant" - 1961

Here's a Courageous Cat cartoon that has him and Minute Mouse leave their usual Empire City beat and take a harrowing trip to the Moon, where they're confronted by a Moon Giant.

Courageous and Minute are out cruising the streets of Empire City in the Catmobile, looking for crime, when they get a call from the police chief on their radio. Professor Noodle-Strudel is launching a Moon rocket and could endanger the citizens, get over there!

The Professor has lit the fuse and it won't be long before the rocket blasts off.

Courageous shows up just in time to snip the fuse and tells the Professor that it's illegal to send his rocket into space without a permit. The Professor tells Courageous, dummkoph, I have a permit, I will show you!

He takes our crime fighters up to the rocket, he leads them in through a door and slams it shut.

The Professor runs back down the stairs, he relights the fuse, and...

It's off to the Moon!

The boys encounter some shooting stars and have to take cover when they start breaking through the window glass.

Then, Minute notes that, hey, they're coming in too fast!

And they crash down on the surface of the Moon, what a landing!

Here are a few of the signs next to where they crashed, pretty cool artwork in this episode.

A Moon Man discovers Courage and Minute on the ground and goes to get word to the Moon King.

The King is informed about the two Earthlings and he says... There is nothing lower than an Earth creature!

So, the King brings in Moonbeam, the Moon Giant. He tells the big lug to go take care of the Earthmen. Moonbeam says... I'll clobber 'em good!

After he captures Courageous and Minute, Courageous shoots him in the nose and they escape. But, Moonbeam is angry now, he captures them again and puts them back in the rocket.

Moonbeam then takes the rocket and tosses it back to Earth, later dudes!

Back in Empire City, Courageous and Minute are recovering from another crash when the Professor inquires if they brought him anything back from the Moon!

Courageous says... Yes, green cheese!! There you go, some Friday Fun!
