BUDDY'S BEER GARDEN - "Beer, Women, and Song" (1933)

It's Weirdo Wednesday again in The Dungeon, and they don't call 'em "Looney Tunes" for nothing!

"Buddy's Beer Garden" came out in 1933, and brings up the age old question, are cartoons for kids?
The animation is by only two guys. After doing a bunch of Buddy cartoons, Jack King went to work for Disney and did a bunch of Donald Duck cartoons.
Tish Tash (Frank Tashlin) went on to direct films like "Rock-A-Bye Baby," and "The Girl Can't Help it!"

I think the correct name should have been "Buddy's Bier Garten," because this looks.....

......And sounds like it's happening in Germany!

 Pretzels on a Dachshund's tail!

My apologies to any vegetarians who might be offended by this still!

Good role models for kids, at least everybody's having a good time!

And it's nice to see beers getting along instead of bickering all the time!

This whole cartoon is basically nothing but music, so when the Latin beat kicks in, Cookie starts doing a dance in a see through skirt,

Just in case you're taking notes, so far this cartoon is about booze and sex!

 Even the piano strips!

Let's not forget about smoking and more sex!

Buddy introduces the final act of the night!

A Super exaggerated Mae West character!

Big loser dude's only got one thing on his feeble mind!

But wait, everything is not as it seems!

Buddy is like Harry Houdini, and somehow after the introduction, it turns out the singer was him in drag!

THE OUTER LIMITS / "Nightmare" Season 1 Episode 10 - 1963

Today's story goes like this... In the future, the Earth is attacked by the planet Ebon. A group of soldiers travel by a rocket to Ebon to fight the Ebonites, but, their rocket is shot down and they are taken as POWs. They then learn that the Ebonites are capable of controlling the human senses and the soldiers are interrogated to get details of the next attack from Earth. One by one, the Earthlings are interrogated by the Ebonites, which increases the mistrust among themselves.

The episode stars James Shigeta, Ed Nelson, Martin Sheen, Bill Gunn, David Frankham, Bernard Kates, Ben Wright, Whit Bissell and John Anderson as the Ebonite Interrogator.

After a long journey to Ebon, the troop ship is shot down and the six crew members are brought in front of the Ebonite Interrogator and are asked for their names only...

Private Dix, a young momma's boy, has his voice taken away, and now, cannot speak...

Colonel Stone requests to be the first one interrogated, but, is told to cool his jets, he'll be called when the Ebonite decides to talk with him...

Private Dix, still unable to speak, is interrogated first.

During the interrogation, Dr. Whorf comes in and tells Dix that he needs to cooperate with the Ebonites because there is no chance of Earth winning the war. The Ebonite Interrogator then tells Dix that he can speak to someone he loves, like, his mom...

Back at the camp, Dix can now talk again, causing some suspicion. Now, it's Lt. Krug's turn to talk to the Ebonite, it's revealed that he turned his father in for a crime he committed. When he talks with his mom, she accuses him of being a bad son and denounces him...

Krug has a heart attack and is hooked up to an alien machine that then removes his heart!

Things get strange when the Commanding General and his aid are talking behind the scenes with the alien interrogator. They then discuss who they think will be the one of the troopers who will be a traitor!.. What the Hell?!

Major Jong has his arm scanned by the same instrument that made Dix unable to speak, and now, his arm has become useless.

The men are given some food similar to that on Earth, so, time to chow down! Looks like some wood blocks I played with when I was just a little guy.

Then, Dix can't stand any longer, he darts out of the camp and runs until he finally dies from a heart attack!

Colonel Stone is in anguish when he finds out from the Interrogator that they are not at war and confronts the General. It was only a test to see how the soldiers would react if there was actually an interplanetary war! The Ebonite wants to stop he test because two people have already died, they even tried to save Krug with their special organ repairing machine.

There is one more death before the General finally pulls the plug on the project... So, we'll be back Wednesday with even more precious Dungeon Cargo!!

SPACE PRECINCT - "Double Duty" (1994)

This Saturday Night Special is once again a tip from my German correspondent, crazed DJ, and all around good guy, Lord Litter! I'm not quite sure how he keeps on finding them for me, but he does, and tonight it's the 1994 British TV show "Space Precinct."

I thought this episode titled "Double Duty" was the first episode, but as it turns out, it's actually the fourth episode!

"Space Precinct" is a cop show set in the year 2040, just a little over 20 years from now. Some of the police officers are human like American actor Ted (353 combined episodes of Dallas and Knots Landing as Gary Ewing) Shackelford as Lt. Patrick Brogan, and........

.......Another American actor, Rob (Sliders) Youngblood as Officer Jack Haldane,
and....

.....Danish actress Simone (Mary, Mother Of Jesus) Bendix as Officer Jane Castle!!!

Most of the rest of the officers in the precinct look like this!

The fun part about "Space Precinct" is that it was created by Gerry Anderson of "Thunderbirds," "Terrahawks," and "Stingray" fame, and it looks great because of it!

I don't know who to thank for how cool "Space Precinct" looks, the colorists, the model makers, or the special effects technicians, probably all of them, but this is just fun to look at!

It's just eye candy!

And it works when they mix this with the 'live' action!

They could have dispensed with the story and it would have been fine with me!

But since they didn't, this grub pizza is what you have to look forward to in 21 years! Maybe we'll get lucky, and they'll start doing it even sooner!
Yum---Mee!

The pizza delivery guy is Idris (Heimdall, The Guardian of Asgard) Elba, in only his second appearance on TV! Idris is one busy guy these days, and has five or six things in pre or post-production!

As cartoonish as it is, "Space Precinct" also has some space horror going on.

The creature effects makeup was some of the early work of animatronics designer Richard Gregory who just passed away a few months ago....

................And special effects technician Phillip (Avatar) Sharpe.

All is not what it seems!

Lana Citron in the last of her four credits morphs into something you don't want to trifle with!

This Thing!
"Space Precinct" went on for a full 24 episode season, so I'm sure I'll be back with more some day!
Ta Ta for now!
