BATMAN - "Justice Is Always Darkest Before The Dawn" (1989)

It was eighty years ago that Batman was introduced to the world!

It was thirty years ago, or fifty years later, that the Batmobile got shifted into high gear!

Time for another Saturday Night Special Classic in The Dungeon!

Dark and mysterious, Batman was made to order like a cheeseburger and fries, for Tim Burton to film!

Movies over two hours long are hard for me to watch. "Batman" is one of the few that kept me awake!

There's nothing I can tell you about "Batman" that you most likely don't already know, like why he hates the Joker so much!

This part is real, some people think Batman is the problem, not the solution!

Jack Napier, soon to be The Joker, has a very cool pad! He might be a diabolical maniac, but at least he's got good taste!

With shots like this,"Batman" is a movie that is actually worth being over two hours long, like standing in a long line to get on a ride, but at least you've got a beer!

In 1943, Batman made his first appearance on the big screen in a 15 chapter serial, and was played by Lewis Nelson. You would think that Lewis would be a household name, but most people just don't care about that far back in the past anymore! Johnny Croft played Robin.
In 1949, Batman resurfaced in another 15 chapter serial, that also included the Boy Wonder! In fact, this serial was titled "Batman And Robin," with Robert Lowery as the Batman and Johnny Duncan as Robin.
It wouldn't be until 1966 that a full movie would be made with Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin!
After that Robin would not reappear in the movies until "Batman Forever" in 1995.

Scheduled for October of this year, they will come out with a film titled simply...
"Joker"
with Joaquin Phoenix filling the bad guy's shoes!

I'll bet it was fun putting together Bruce Wayne's odd collection of stuff!

Kim Basinger is gorgeous!

Jack is as crazy as ever, and maybe crazier than never!

It's Batman's fault! He created The Joker by dropping him in this rancid vat, but The Joker was also the one who created Batman when he killed his parents, so I guess it's an even trade off!

This is what I'd like to call a simple but signature Tim Burton moment!
This shot could have been in any number of his films!

Of course, after this, "Batman Returns" in 1992, and has been going and going ever since!

DOCTOR DRACULA / A Story of Sensual Torment - 1978

The story involves author John Wainwright who has a neat mind control act, and, he's available for parties! Wainwright believe he's the reincarnation of Svengali, whom he resembles. He picks up a young woman and intends on making her a human sacrifice in order to gain eternal life. There are other sub plots that tangle this one into one big old spider web of weirdness.

It stars John (RED ZONE CUBA) Carradine, Don 'Red'(FRANKENSTEIN 1970) Barry, Larry (184 acting credits, 16 writing credits, 13 producer credits, 4 editing credits, 1 animating credit, 1 composer credit and more!) Hankin, Geoffrey (NURSE SHERRI) Land, Susie (DYNAMITE BROTHERS) Ewing, Regina (BRAIN OF BLOOD) Carrol and more.

The movie starts with Wainwright performing one of his mind tricks, he's sawing a woman in half as she screams in pain to the horror of the audience!..

He then shows the audience the bloody saw he has used in the illusion.

Everyone attending has been hypnotized into believing he had actually cut through the woman! Time to pick up your marbles and go home.

This bathing beauty gets a visit from some unknown stalker. She doesn't get to finish her bath.

In one of the odd scenes, John is trying to convince Red that the occult exists and he should join their club. Red's part in this movies is minimal and almost feels like a cameo role!

Then, we have Gregorio. He's a womanizing psychic who gets to have a romp with Regina in his coffin!.. Like, what the Hell's going on with this flick!

Here's John in all his glory, he needs women to sacrifice in his devil worship club!

Believe it or not, Svengali shows up and pays Wainwright a little visit. Thing is, they look exactly alike, making for even more (woob, woob!) confusion!!

Well anyway, it's time to sacrifice Red's daughter for the pleasure of the club members. Gregorio shows up and the fireworks start... Gregorio is actually a psychic vampire, Wainwright tries to scare him off with a lit candle cross. Gregorio just knocks the candles away.

Wainwright tries to use his mind tricks on Gregorio, but, Gregorio turns the tables and everyone at the sacrifice dies because he has put the idea that they have lost the demonic war in their heads! Holy shit, how freaking stupid!!

So, Red's daughter leaves with Gregorio after the failed sacrifice, she tells him there is only one way to get rid a dapper vampire. She reaches into her purse and pulls out a switch, she pushes a button and this bomb is finally over! Actually, this is Al's finest production!.. Ouch! Tune in tomorrow when Eegah!! blows something else... UP!!

CHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO - "Waffles" (1937)

Tis my pleasure to present tonight's classic film from good ole 1937,
"Charlie Chan At Monte Carlo."
I don't know about you, but I sure would like to know what those 11 big prizes were!

Charlie Chan movies are like comfort food! You're not going to get gloss or gore or even much action, but what you will get is a good intriguing mystery with a lot of cool one line zingers from Charlie!

At one point or another, Charlie Chan and his son showed up in almost every exotic place in the world! The location this go round was the gambling mecca of Monte Carlo!

This movie is hilarious! Charlie's son Lee doesn't have that good of a handle on the French language and lands them in jail for what he says!

The women of "Charlie Chan At Monte Carlo" are gorgeous and oh so much more!
Born Margaret Cynthia St John Field, Virginia (Rockabilly Baby, The Earth Dies Screaming) Fields' Mother was a cousin to Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and supposedly she chose the name Virginia as an homage to his home state!

Okay, are you ready for this one? (I doubt it!)
Kay Linaker from Pine Bluff, Arkansas was not only beautiful, she was also one of the screenplay writers for the "The Blob" under the name of Kay Phillips. She got paid $150.00 according to IMDB.  Kay lived to be 94, and I think that just proves how healthy an active imagination is!

A small missing gem from a woman's high heel shoe gives Charlie Chan all kinds of info!

Nice shot of the power trio, Charlie and Lee Chan, and Harold Huber as Inspector Jules Joubert!
Damn, Harold Huber only made in to the age of 49, after dying during some failed surgery!

Somebody lights a fire to destroy some evidence and nobody cops to it!

This guy looks pretty suspicious to me!

This is my favorite part of "Charlie Chan At Monte Carlo!" Charlie and son Lee are at a French restaurant, and after Lee's last translation, Charlie's a little weary of letting him order for him!

I speak almost zero French, but "Poissons" just doesn't look that delectable to me!

Charlie just wants some waffles, but lee doesn't know how to say waffles in French, so Charlie decides to draw a picture on the back of the menu!

As they say, a picture speaks a million words, and the waiter finally gets it!
Oh, Waf'fells', oh sure, Qui Qui!

And then he brings Charlie this crossword puzzle book!
I'm still laughing, and that's the kind of crap that makes these Charlie Chan movies so worth watching!

It sure looks like they got Edgar Allen Poe to play The Gendarmerie in the background!

Nice Ensemble shot to view the final smashing ending!

Wow! And the thought the ending we wrote for "The Creep" was original!
At least we used an ice cream truck!
