BERSERK - Herman Cohen -"Your Front Row Seat To Murder!" (1967)

This Saturday Night Special has some extra hot sauce on it, and lives up to it's title because it's..
"BERSERK!"

"BERSERK" is an extra special movie on multiple levels, but I'll just try and hit some of the high points! "BERSERK" was a Herman Cohen production, and without Herman Cohen, we wouldn't have had many of the best 50's and 60's horror and monster movies! Seriously, Herman was responsible for I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN, BLOOD OF DRACULA, HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM, KONGA, BLACK ZOO, and HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER, but despite all that, Tabonga will never forgive him for destroying all the original Paul Blaisdell monster masks in the fire in HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER!

"BERSERK" has a super amazing all-star cast that includes Joan Crawford and Michael Gough!
Dwrayger Dungeon 101!

Nice shot of Joan!

Although I must admit, Michael's role is short-lived!!

"BERSERK" is very similar to "Horrors Of The Black Museum," and "Black Zoo," in fact, it probably should have been titled "BLACKSERK!"

Joan spends a lot of time skulking around the circus in that red cape like some kind of bloodsucker!

It's not often you get to see a good old fashioned cat fight anymore!

This must have completely mortified Joan!

Again, what an amazing array of 60's Pop culture!
Left to right, Judy Geeson, Ty Hardin, Joanie, and The Siren of Swindon, Diana Dors!

As expected, this 'saw the woman in half' trick didn't work out that great for Diana!

Right about here was the most WTF!?  moment watching movies I've had lately! You know what, I'll just let you judge for yourself!  Watch it right here, "The Freak Song"  and let me know what you think! Had Herman Cohen been influenced by the musical version of "Jack The Giant Killer?" What a great group, and the chrome dome gentleman on the far right is Dungeon Hero Milton Reid!

I really didn't know that Batman and Robin were in the circus in 1967!

Herman Cohen must have really liked the circus, or it just made for a cheap but interesting stage for his movie, and personally I liked "BERSERK" a lot, but I would have liked it a lot better minus about 25 minutes of real time circus acts!

"BERSERK" is a movie that's just dying to be seen! Watch it as a triple feature with "Black Zoo," and "Horrors Of The Black Museum!!!
Now that's an original 60's power trio!!

THE CRATER LAKE MONSTER / Crown International Pictures - 1977

Here's one we never did, well, until now! It's all about a meteor that crashed into Oregon's Crater Lake and unearths a dinosaur egg. The heat from the meteor causes the egg to hatch, and, the emerging dinosaur takes to snacking on the locals. Actually filmed at Huntington Lake, California, where I used to spend my summers in the fifties at Boy Scout camp...

The main actor, Richard Cardella, has one acting credit, this one. Oh yeah, he also wrote it.

Some of our heroes (?) find a dinosaur in a painting while exploring a cave used by native Americans, our first clue that there really is freakin' Crater Lake Monster!

Then, it happens!.. The monster finds this guy out fishing on the lake and he becomes the first victim in this wild 'n' weird, tooth-filled story.

Just had to show this cool looking Chevy wagon used by the local investigating Sheriff.

This dude is fighting with his pal when he discovers the fisherman's mangled body in the water.

We finally catch a glimpse of the monster when it comes out of the water to attack two lovers in their beached motor boat. The animated scenes of the thing look pretty decent!

This pic is fun to peruse, especially if you were around during the seventies!

The Sheriff and Doc come across some very strange, giant prints in the sand. But, what in the Hell could have done this?!..

The Monster makes its way onto land, looking for snacks... It locates this mechanic out working on some machines and it's not long before the unlucky dude gets chomped up!

This is my favorite part... The Monster grabs a bale of hay and tosses it at the incoming Sheriff!

The Sheriff and a hippie with a rifle take one of the machines out to confront the Monster, but of course, the dumb ass hippie jumps out, slips and falls down... Do I even need to say what happens next?

It's kinda hard to figure out how the Sheriff is hurting the Monster with the machine, but, he draws some blood!

And, our title character goes down for the count (I thought just roaming around the countryside would have killed it, you know, it's a water dino and all) and our story is over... Tune in tomorrow when we'll bring you more Dungeon cargo!

MY SCIENCE PROJECT - "We Must Not Destroy The World" (Good Idea!) (1985)

I don't know what the budget was for tonight's Weird Wednesday feature, but I think they should have just fed a bunch of homeless people instead! The money would have been a lot better spent! Some people love this movie, but I just don't happen to be one of them!

So here it is, "My Science Project!" Let me know what grade you would give it!

Dennis Hopper is Bob Roberts, you know, kind of like Dick Peters!

When most high school kids need a quick fix science project, I've heard that a great majority of them seek out abandoned military equipment graveyards!

Backyard mechanics and alien technology make for strange bedfellows!

Wow, a Neo-Spectometer, I haven't seen one of those in like never!

Bob's an olde druggie, so he digs the juice!!

Then it gets really out of hand...

...And a timewarp portal opens!

"My Science Project" was also released as "Time Busters!"

The real honest fact of the matter is, I used my own portable time machine to fast forward through the last 20 or 30 minutes!

I started to feel like this when I realized I wasn't a teenager any more!

Any movie playback device whether it be streaming, a DVD or even a VHS tape, enables you to manipulate time forward or backwards like a time machine, the only difference is, even if you go backward you don't regain the time you spent going forward, or as The Firesign Theatre so succinctly stated, "How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?"

If you're really in the mood to watch a teen movie from 1985, I think "Weird Science" with Kelly LeBrock, and a soundtrack that includes music by Oingo Boingo and Wall Of Voodoo is a better choice! I'm not usually like this, but I give this science project an F!
