ROLLER MAIDENS FROM OUTER SPACE - Red Greenback and The Blue Boys - "Everybody Seemed To Be Having More Fun Than Me" (1974)

Those "four beloved turkeys" Peter Bergmen, Phillip Proctor, David Ossman, and the guy in the spotlight tonight, Phil Austin, collectively known as "The Firesign Theatre" have probably had as much influence on what we do here as anybody or anything! Talk about movies for the mind, when they were on, those cats were the masters! So, that being said, tonight's special treat is just a snippet of what you will be in store for if you go out and Get Yourself a Copy of Phil Austin's solo release, "Roller Maidens From Outer Space!" Don't let that cover or any of these pictures fool you, this is one of THE most amazing things ever put on vinyl by musicians or comedians!

Joined by Proctor, Ossman, and Bergman, along with Michael C. Gwynne, and the inspirational Oona Elliot, this is a wild tale combining TV series's "Carhook!," "The Regular and Ethyl Show," "Oooh Juicy," "Celebrity Roller Rassling," and the movie "The Roller Maidens From Outer Space" into one gigantic fireball of thrills!

Oona also gets credit for the Rollie Maidens outfits or lack thereof!

Somewhere in the middle of the whole thing, there is also a telethon going on, and one of the talents of the evening was Red Greenback and The Blue Boys performing "You've Got All Night To Wrestle A Live Nude Stewerdess In Flight"!!!! Not only is it probably THE best country song EVER recorded by anybody, it's also freakin' hilarious, and there is not one word wasted. These guys pack more into two minutes and 35 seconds than most people get out of a career, with lyrics like "I shouted Good Lord, then I wish I hadn't said it, if I had one brain them people coulda read it!" Lyrics by Phil Austin!

Oona Elliot gets credit for some writing, background vocals, costume design and is who Phil dedicates the album to!

The other beautiful "Space Angel" maidens are Krissi Ronning, Jennifer Kampen, Elizabeth Grand, and Lynn Taylor!

Phil Austin does the vocals and plays guitar, and is joined by musicians Henry Diltz on Banjo, Douglas Hatlelid on Bass, Cyrus Faryar on guitar and Lee Vaunce on percussion!

My highest recommendation is that you go and seek out at least a minimum of three of the Firesign Theatre's releases, "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You're Not Anywhere At all," "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers," and "I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus!!!"

And here's where you can get 'em!

I have no idea why Phil Austin is not "King Of The World" today, a guy with more talent in his toenail than 500 Picassos, I'm thinking he possibly sold his soul to the owners of those Almighty Switchblade Pitchforks in exchange for making this album!!

5 TOMBE PER UN MEDIUM (Terror Creatures From The Grave) - Aldo Piga - "The Plague" (1965)

Like all of the movies we've written about here, the Italian movie "Terror Creatures From The Grave" is another one of those "you just gotta see it" films. I mean, if you dig the plague, you're really going to enjoy this film.

The U.S. Armed Forces indoctrinated us with the stuff, so it's a joke to us, but for the rest of you, there might be a problem.

There is no clue how Barbara Steele could put up with all this and always still look great!!

That bust looks like one of those ghost ones at the end of "The Haunted Mansion" ride!

Have you ever heard The Firesign Theater's" bit about the TV show, "Name That Disease!"? It's a game show where they shoot you up with different killer diseases and you only have so much time to "Name That Disease" and if you name it, you get the antidote! It's big Laffs!!!! So, the last contestant can't name the disease, the buzzer goes off, and the announcer tells him "You've got the plague" and then every person in the audience starts whispering, 'the plague, the plague, the plague etc. etc. This movie is also good stuff for all you leper fans out there!!!

Hey, have you heard about those new Super-Infections we have now? Now that's some hilarious stuff!!! So, if you're not sick enough to die at home, go to a hospital, and they'll take care of it for you, for sure!!! Happy New Year!!

Well, I guess Barbara doesn't really look that great here! The music for this movie also known as "Coffin Of Terror" is composed by Aldo Piga, who we've written about here before for his amazing work on one of our favorite films, "The Vampire And The Ballerina." Here, Aldo's work is all over the place, and the opening sequence lives in a world of it's own, like no other! Rumbling drums and penny whistles with karate chop horns!! Cool stuff Aldo, right to the end! Thanx!!!!

THE THREE STOOGES IN ORBIT - Paul Dunlap - "Space Twist" (1962)

We love this movie!!! When you combine the genius of director Edward Bernds with the musical prowess of Paul Dunlap, and add in almost everybody's favorite slapstick heroes, The Three Stooges, how could you possibly go wrong? It looks like a cross between a Stooges episode and "The Queen Of Outer Space" and sounds like everything from "Angry Red Planet" to "Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster." This movie will keep you and the kids transfixed for at least a good part of it!!

Just to start off with, you get about a half a dozen of these neato cartoons during the opening narration!
Would you rather get hit in the head twice with a pan or take a straight shot to the forehead with a raw egg like the landlady??

Moe Howard was already 65 years old when "The Three Stooges In Orbit" was made, Larry Fine was 60, and Joe DeRita was only 53!

This Polka Dot Toothpaste ad is wild, and out of context sounds like a "Firesign Theatre" bit!! "Tastes like pizza!"

The twisted music by Paul Dunlap combined with this whole white-out scene is simply hilarious, this movie is well worth watching just to watch that 65 year old Moe dance!!! Go Moe, Go!!

"What's the matter? Are you killing ants?" This "Twist" music is wound up real tight, kind of like in "The Sound Of Horror" but with a kickin' added trumpet, it's surprising, in retrospect, how really good it is!!

It's the latest dance step, the thing they're all going daffy about!!"

"If you can't lick 'em, join 'em!!" Everybody twist!!!

IM STAHLNETZ DES DR. MABUSE (The Return Of Dr. Mabuse) - Peter Sandloff - "2 or 3 Scenes" (1961)

These German "Dr. Mabuse" films have been going on since 1922, & it took 39 years to get around to the "Return Of." Here's some swingin' background music from a couple of scenes that I swear to you, sound so much like "The Firesign Theatre" that it's incredible! "What kind of joke is this, Ross" etc...., you'll see, or hear, if you know what I'm talking about, you'll get it! Dr. Mabuse, 100% great stuff, find it when & where you can!!

What kind of a joke is this? Here's a short bit with the player piano that was playing in the background of a telephone conversation leading to the discovery of the suspect's whereabouts.
