TODSCHÜSSE AM BROADWAY - Peter Thomas - "Broadways Deadly Gold" (1969)

Welcome to the lucky Saturday the 13th version of The Dungeon! Just like Lord Litter, I think these Jerry Cotton films are some of my favourites of the 60's spy and secret agent genres! In the all around weird but well done department, it just doesn't get much better than this!

Whether you call it "Broadway's Deadly Gold" or, "Todesschüsse Am Broadway," or "Dead Body On Broadway," it really doesn't make much difference, because it's still one strange movie, no matter what the name is!

Here's the man of the hour, George Nader as FBI Agent Jerry Cotton! This was to be George's 8th, and last appearance as Jerry Cotton, a run than went on from 1965 to 1969!

These two shots personify what a topsy turvy movie this really is! "Round and round we go, one, two, three, kick! One, two, three, Jump!"

"Todesschüsse Am Broadway" can be quite atmospheric at times!

Miha (Stronghold Of Toughs) Bolah is Joe Costello, one extremely bad mutha! He's after the gold, and the cops are after him so he just had his face redone so he couldn't be recognized! This is how he paid the people for their handiwork!

There just had to be a dance studio for amateur strippers to flesh out the script!

Most of the Jerry Cotton films are shot in Germany, but disguised to look like places in America. This one had some scenes actually shot in Las Vegas in the days when accordion players could still command the stage!

This is just the way Director Harald Reinl and Cinematographer Heinz Hölscher roll, and it always makes for fun watching!

Heidy Bohlen as Cindy Holden is the item that everybody is looking for, and the whole movie is spent with different groups pursuing her because as the girlfriend of the dead guy who stashed the gold, all the other players naturally assume she knows where it is, but she really doesn't! Heidy was in some films with dubious titles like "Naughty Roommates," and "The Sensuous Three," and in some film called "The Long Swift Sword Of Siegfried" she was credited as Heidy Ho! Gotta love it!

FBI agents Jerry Cotton and his partner Phil Decker set up a surveillance camera in Cindy's apartment so they can keep and eye on her! Phil really enjoys his job! Phil Decker was played by Heinz Weiss in all the Jerry Cotton films!

Naturally Cindy is also a nightclub performer or else it wouldn't be a Jerry Cotton flick!

One of my favourite composers Peter Thomas wrote the music, but this song performed by Cindy Holden is one of THE worst songs I've ever heard! Worse even than the music in "Manos: The Hands Of Fate," and that's really saying something! Check it out right here if you don't believe me! Whoohoohahoohoo!

Joe Costello is possibly the most dispicable person on the face of the planet! While trying to escape the pursuing Jerry Cotton, he abducts this kid, and then ditches him in a truck after pulling the pin on a grenade and handing it to him! What a guy! The kid was either a really good actor or actually really scared!

I just had to show you this still of the residents of the apartment building where Costello kidnapped the kid! They're watching them go down in an elevator!

Jerry Cotton tries to do a police sketch of Joe Costello's new face without much luck!

IF you think this is a real place, you'd be sorely mistaken!

This bunch of bozos are also pursuing both Joe Costello and Cindy Holden! They're a pretty tight group, literally!

So what do you think about the composition of these two shots? Pretty jagged huh?!

In the big standoff between Jerry Cotton and Joe Costello, Costello threatens to smash Cindy's head in, and that might just be about as much as Jerry can handle!
All the Jerry Cotton films are available from Sinister Cinema at a very fair price. They've got a heckuva deal going on for the next couple of months! 12 movies for $98.00 postpaid! Can't go wrong there! Knock three times on the green door, and tell 'em Eegah!! sent you!! They don't pay me (I wish they did) but they deserve the plug because they do a good job!

MORDNACHT IN MANHATTAN - "Manhattan Night Of Murder" (1965)

What I got for you tonight is the last of my Jerry Cotton movies, and it's called "Mordnacht In Manhattan" or................

"Manhattan Night Of Murder!"

If I ever had time to plan things around here, I would probably watch movies like this in chronological order, but since I'm a freakin' bozo, it's always a haphazard free form affair which causes things like this to happen! Since this was the last Jerry Cotton film I had to watch, I've been saving it for this special moment, only to be disappointed, because "Mordnacht In Manhattan" turns out to be my least favourite Jerry Cotton movie. All the right elements are there, but it's not that witty, and never really gets very exciting at all!

"Mordnacht In Manhattan was the second Jerry Cotton film released in 1965. The first film was "The Violin Case Murders," which also wasn't all that great, but I think it was a little better than this one! It wasn't til the third film, "Um Null Uhr Schnappt Die Falle Zu" also known as "The Trap Snaps Shut At Midnight," that Jerry Cotton really got cooking!

One of  "The Sweatles," the marvelous Monika Grimm was also in the next Jerry Cotton film!

Although the movie is set in New York, 90% of it is shot in Hamburg, Munich, and Landshut, Bavaria, Germany!

While fighting with Jerry, this gangster falls into a pit of coal, but it kind of looks like he's getting chewed up by Caltiki The Immortal Monster in this shot!

This is the 13th movie we've hosted with George Nader in it, what else can I say, except "which way did they go George!!"

Gangsters or sardines? Something stinks either way!

The music in "Mordnacht In Manhattan" is, as are all the Jerry Cotton films, by the genius mind and Dungeon fave, Peter Thomas!

Jerry's a sneaky guy, and you get to see part of his Jaguar and part of the mobster's '67 Impala all in the same shot!

I'm sure somebody thought a fight scene in a bunch of cardboard boxes was going to be real exciting, but they were wrong!

It's a pretty bold move to be on your regular TV show when you've also been I.D.'d in a murder!

I found this Mexican poster for "Mordnacht In Manhattan" on a fellow blogger's site called Una Plaga De Espias, and the funny thing is I can find no other reference to this film with this title, but then that's just how these Jerry Cotton films roll! Those two cars are just too much!!
Thanx again to our man in Berlin, Lord Litter for turning me onto this series in the first place a few years ago, do yourself a favor, and go check out one of his Magic Music Show International radio shows. I guarantee you'll become just as addicted as I am!

DER MÖRDERCLUB VON BROOKLYN - Peter Thomas - "The Body In Central Park" (1967)

Welcome to The Saturday Night Special in The Dungeon 2016 style!
Woe be the day we run out of Jerry Cotton movies! I think we only have two left after this, but let us rejoice since we still have those two to look forward to, which is a small light in an otherwise dark and somber world!
(This is a great poster by the way, I love that abstract painting in the background! It literally screams 1967!!)

Personally, I think that the literal "The Murderers Club Of Brooklyn" is a much more descriptive title!

Just like every other Jerry Cotton film I've seen so far, this film is whack! For instance it starts off with this scene of a bunch of gangsters waiting inside Jerry Cotton's apartment in New York to ambush him! They're playing with his slot cars on his home slot car track! Slot cars were the rage back in the sixties. Mine was a little hot rod painted purple and chartreuse! It flew off of many a quality track!

Once the credits start, the movie turns to colour!
As you will see, cinematographer Franz X. Lederle had a penchant for these kind of peek a boo shots! Sometimes what's going on in the background is more fun and interesting than what's in the foreground!

"Aw Shit! We kidnapped the wrong girl!"

So you want a million dollars or you'll kill my daughter?
What do you think it will be, "okay or go fuck yourself?"

This shot is the epitome of a degenerate 1967! Cigarettes, candy, horse racing, and a screwdriver!

How about this shot?

Normally the green screen in these Jerry Cotton movies is beyond reproach! This is the first one I've seen where they slacked off and allowed shots like this!

I'm pretty sure every scene that has a window in the background was green screened too!

Bauhaus New York!

As Jerry makes his way across the dance floor, it's as good a time as any to tell you that one of my favourite composers Peter Thomas is once again responsible for the music in the "Murderers Club Of Brooklyn!" Here's a short sample for your enjoyment!

In 1967 a shot like this was probably considered avant garde, but in 2016, it would just be called a photo bomb!

AAAaaahhhHHHH!!!!

"Don't know where I been, cause I been drinkin' Gordon's Gin!"

Kind of self explanatory!

Here's a decent shot of Jerry's cool red Jaguar!

Here's another scene where they flubbed the green screen!

Here's yet another one of those wunderbar shots!

Suave Jerry Cotton, bikini babes and a space background!
It just doesn't get much better than that!

Here's a nice definitive shot of George Nader as Jerry Cotton!
Mucho danke schöns to my olde pal Lord Litter in Berlin for turning me on to the whole Jerry Cotton Phenomena! You can check out his wild and weird genius RIGHT HERE!
You can find Jerry Cotton films at Sinister Cinema for pretty much a steal, just in case you want to treat yourself to an awesome late Xmas present!
