SHINDIG HALLOWEEN SHOW - Season 2 - Episode 14 (1965)

Tonight's All Soul's Day Special is the Halloween episode numbered 2.14 of the popular 60's thirty minute musical TV show called "Shindig!"

The host of "Shindig was a fellow named Jimmy O'Neill.

The guest host of this episode was up and coming teen heartthrob Bobby Sherman!

Bobby rides a bicycle, falls down, and does two very short Beatles covers "Help," and "I'm Down!"
Pretty tricky!

Because it's a special Halloween show, Lurch from "The Addams Family" shows up!

Ted Cassidy, six foot nine inches tall, and he only lived to be 46! What a shame!

Still very popular at the time, Boris Karloff is the real star of the scary show!

This is where it gets bizarre! Boris does a cover of Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "The Monster Mash" who was doing a Boris impersonation, so Boris is actually copying a guy who was copying him!

The main backing band on this episode were Jim Doval and the Gauchos who were at about the height of their career. I don't know what happened, maybe somebody found out they were from Fresno, but these guys just kind of disappeared after this.

We used to watch a teen dance TV show after school in the 60's broadcast from Fresno called "KMAK Cabaret" that Jim Doval was on a lot. I sold this record of his I had a few years ago. It's pretty weird!

Jackie and Gayle perform "Everybody's Gone To The Moon!" Everybody except them, unfortunately!

Bobby strikes back with "Memphis!"
 "Hello Information........"

The Spokesman perform Phil Ochs' "There But For Fortune!" 44 years later and a song by The Spokesman was used on "Breaking Bad!"

I don't know what to say about them having Boris talk/sing "The Peppermint Twist," except it could have only been weirder if Salvador Dali had been there with him singing background vocals!

It's is really amazing how things work. Billy Preston is here playing on this show with Jim Doval, and while Jim's career seemingly went nowhere, four years later Billy Preston would be considered by many to be the fifth Beatle!

Billy Preston's organ dominated the Beatles tune "Get Back" so much that it got him a credit as being the only person whose name would be officially used on a Beatles' song beside The Beatles!

Even if this a terrible crappy copy of the show, you've got to admit it makes you feel good to see Lurch out of makeup and smiling!
"No Matter What They Say.......ROCK ON!"

THE BUTCHERS / aka MAXIE - 1973

Today's post is about a young mute girl names Maxie who discovers that a local butcher and his pal are using his store as a front for murder and then becomes the target to silence her.

This one stars K.T. (her only acting credit) Baumann as Maxie, Morgan (LINDA LOVELACE FOR PRESIDENT) Upton, Ford (only acting credit) Clay, Robert (BLUE SUNSHINE) Walden, Vic (T-BIRD GANG) Tayback and Talia (THE DUNWICH HORROR) Shire.

Dubious things seem to be happening at the old butcher shop, strange cargo is being delivered to that address in a black vintage Packard hearse!

We are privy to some of the choppy action in the butcher shop, where the saying 'meat is meat' is the order of the day...

The shop owner Smedke and his assistant Finn spy on the public through the front window.

Here's the mute Maxie in the liquor store, she ends up buying a copy of Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man comic. She likes to draw and has a pile of her own artwork.

Back at the farm, the chickens get loose and Finn has a Hell of a time getting them back in their cages, and ends up with some nice scratches on his face!

Smedke checks out his latest supply of 'meat' brought in by Finn. Hmmm...

Okay, so, it's found out that Maxie has seen too much and fear that she will spill the beans on them to the authorities. The only logical thing to do then is kidnap her ass, right?!

Here's Maxie at home with her teacher Sommers and her dad. Dad and Sommers get in a snit over how Maxie should be taught...

Then, Finn kidnaps Maxie and takes her to a warehouse where he keeps watch over her. Dad and Sommers go in search of the mute but only find her little red wagon, tipped over!

Finn hands off Maxie to Smedke, then goes and crashes the Packard meatmobile but good, putting him totally out of commission.

Inside the shop, Smedke tries to take a butcher knife away from Maxie and gets stabbed in the stomach. She runs away and Smedke grabs the knife and follows her.

Alas, Smedke grabs Maxie and takes her outside where he's confronted by dad and Sommers. After a fight, Smedke falls on the knife, bringing this Halloween Countdown post to an end... And, you should end up coming back tomorrow for something Eegah!! has up his sleeve!

ROCKTOBER BLOOD - "Trick or Treat" (1984)

This is my first post as a Cryptkicker 2018, so let's get this started on the wrong foot right out of the box with freakin' "Rocktober Blood," a movie that has everything you need for this season of the witch, just not something I'd waste my time watching or even semi-watching ever again! "Rocktober Blood" was released as the groovy title "Rockill" in Belgium, and believe it or not, actually had at one time, the working title of "Trick or Treat!"

If you're having a Halloween party, and you just want something that looks sorta scary rockin' on the tube in the background, and you can't find a copy of "Monster Dawg" with Alice Cooper or "Phantom Of The Paradise," then this just might be your cup of henna leaves, otherwise I'd just go on to the next door and ask for more candy!

Ferd, not Fred, and Beverly Sebastian are the ones responsible for "Rocktober Blood" whether you love it or hate it! Despite the fact that they gave some people jobs, donating to almost any needy charity would have been a much better use of the money!

I'm guessing the lens flare was a signature Sebastian trademark!

The heavy metal lead singer looks like Lou Reed on steroids after he joined Pablo Cruise (with a lens flare off his shades of course!)

There was a time when "Rocktober Blood" was almost impossible to find, unfortunately for us all, those days are over, and you can now get it for $5.00 used (which means it was probably only played once)

At least it's reassuring to know that when heavy metal killers die, they still get to keep their headbands!

Let's see, how can we come up with a new an innovative way to kill someone?  Oh, I know, iron the bitch, that oughta show her!

If "Rocktober Blood" was a video on MTV that lasted three minutes, it might be worth watching, other than that, you'll probably have a more entertaining time in the Doctor's office waiting to get your colonoscopy!

Rainbow eyes and pussy blood! Great combination!

I'm sorry!

I'd say the ending was ridiculous, but........
