GOLDSNAKE 'ANONIMA KILLERS' - "Suicide Mission To Singapore" (1966)

Tonight's Dungeon spy flick is called "Goldsnake" or "Suicide Mission To Singapore" whichever turns you on! So, let's get ready to ramble....

 

"Goldsnake 'Anonima Killers"

 

First off, this guy is not Goldsnake, nobody is! You'd think somebody in the movie was named Goldsnake! This is Stelio Candelli, as Agent Kurt Jackson, aka Stanley Kent in this film, but sometimes Steve Elliot or Steven Candell, and sometimes Stelio Scandelli! Stelio has been in some pretty cool flicks, and his name was literally Mud in "Planet Of The Vampires!"

I do believe this is Juan (Tombs Of The Blind Dead) Cortés as Jean! Pretty sleazy lookin' and he's one of the good guys!

In 1966, pool parties were cool parties!

This gal would be Yôko (First Spaceship On Venus) Tani as Annie Wong, nightclub singer and part time spy!

If you approach Annie and try to tell her you're a friend of a friend, you won't get anywhere unless you have this cigarette holder device to show to her! Otherwise, she won't even acknowledge your existence!

Kurt Jackson shoots a lot of people and he also judo chops a few to the neck with good results, like death! Chop! Die! Bam! That's it! Kurt's a bad dude!

Cryptic Chinese characters drawn in blood! This can't be good!

I told you Kurt Jackson was a bad dude, here he holds off a whole hit squad and escapes without a problem! Suicide Mission I guess! More than once he manages to escape without any real pursuit for some reason!

 

"Goldsnake 'Anonima Killers" is a pretty rare flick, and because of that fact, it's even rarer to find a good copy! I'm pretty sure this is as good as it gets, because this is what happens when movies go the same route as the dinosaurs! The sound on this DVD was all over the place from warbly to indistinguishable, and at one key point the overdubs dropped out and they were speaking German instead of English for about five minutes! The soundtrack by Carlo (Secret Agent Fireball, Crypt Of The Vampire) Savina swings, but I was only able to rescue a couple of minutes because of the bad sound quality, so HERE's a comical sound bite from when Annie gets out of the shower, followed by a taste of the theme! That was all I could salvage!

I'm pretty sure this is my favourite shot from anything I've seen lately! 

Annabella (Goliath and the Vampires, The Ambushers, Black Belly Of The Tarantula, The Case Of The Bloody Iris) Incontrera is Evelyn, the top of the food chain in the bad girl department!

Here's a sample of some 1966 high-tech surveillance equipment!

This chump guard comes walking out all bad lookin' with his gun stuck into his waistband! Might as well have been a wasteband, cause it was sure a waste of Kurt Jackson's time! One shot, and this cat was history!

Here's how Kurt does it, he gets his gun out, and puts his finger on the trigger and...............

...............No, no, I can't believe it, the guy took Kurt out with one of those circus tent lookin' cushions on the floor! Don't worry! Just as easy as it was for them to take Kurt out, that's how easy it is for Kurt to get back in the game!

Next thing you know, Kurt shows up in disguise as a musician!

Good thing his koto is also a machine gun! It's out of tune so it drives them crazy!

Annie shows back up just in the nick of time looking like some Japanese beetle with an automatic weapon!

And so that's how it goes! You hide over there, and I'll pretend like I don't see you, and if I do see you, we'll have a scuffle, and then I'll shoot or judo chop you, and/or run away! And that's the whole story........

QUATERMASS II / BBC TV Mini Series - 1955

It's British Sci-Fi Monday with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. We gots a rare 6 episode, 3 hour mini TV series produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation from the story by Nigel Kneale. Nigel also wrote THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT for the 1953 BBC TV mini series, QUATERMASS AND THE PIT for the 1958-9 BBC TV series and QUATERMASS for the 1979 BBC mini series, all of which were made into movie versions.

Here's the rocket built by Professor Quatermass and his crew, he's trying to perfect a dangerously unstable nuclear-powered rocket engine.

John Robinson plays Professor Quatermass, aka, The Rocket Man! Take that, Elton John!!

While visiting the Professor, Captain Dillon draws attention to strange meteorite fragments that fell during an Army training exercise.

Quatermass and Dillon decide to investigate and discover the Professor's Moon Project facility being built in full scale. After coming in contact with noxious gas contained inside a meteorite, Dillon is taken away by the plant's security guards.

Quatermass finds this nearly complete meteorite and asks his men to come up with the original design of the thing before it entered the Earth's atmosphere.

Then, while visiting the facility, which is supposed to be manufacturing synthetic food, Mr. Broadhead accidently falls into a vat of the corrosive slime!

This great looking logo for the BBC pops up in the middle of the show, nice little bonus!

Quatermass dresses in a guard's uniform to escape detection and catches a glimpse of one of the freaky alien blob creatures inside a dome!

In order to save Earth, the Professor has to convince this infected soldier to let him and Dr. Pugh board the rocket and launch it into space, and... It works!

Quatermass and Pugh plan on going to the asteroid where the creatures are coming from and destroy it before things get worse!

But, the doctor decides to sabotage the plan and Quatermass destroys his gravity device, sending him spiraling into space!!

Quatermass barely escapes in the nose cone as the creatures try and cover the rocket. The Professor makes it safely back to Earth for more sci-fi adventures, so, worry not... Check in Wednesday to see what Eegah!! has brewing!

PROJECT: POTEMKIN - "The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky" (2014)

Welcome everybody to the Super Saturday Spoonful Of Stars Special and part two of  the "Project: Potemkin" project!!

If you thought the first part of "Project: Potemkin" was good, well, hold on to your hats and tighten up your seat belt, because these amateur film makers dare to go where no man has ever ventured before! While most of their projects are shorts, this is a full-blown one hour adventure! Well, it would be an hour if there were commercials every 15 minutes!

The title is quite poetic, "The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky" and it sets a friendly tone for what is about to take place!

Unknown Planet? Now that can't possibly be good news! Better go down and check it out and find out what's going on!

Jeffrey Green is back as the hand wringing Captain Alec Grigory! He's got his sweaty palms full this time! Joining Jeffrey is Christin Woods as the Vulcanized Ensign T'Noshi! Jeffrey also directed this full length episode!

This young fellah has an attitude to go along with that horn growing out of his head! He's got a future in the future!

Beaming up or down makes for such iconic imagery! I was amazed when we were doing our public access TV show years ago called "Offbeat," how simple this very effective effect really is! The cool thing is, you never get tired of it!!

Randall Landers told me that "The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky" took 17 weeks to shoot, and 27 months of post production! That's a little over two years of probably every spare minute they could find, and guess what? It shows! Pretty impressive, you gotta admit!!

The crew is greeted by Eric Holt as Kalv, a member of a civilization of Vulcans! Like an act by some Noah of the future, this primitive tribe of Vulcans was relocated to this planet many years earlier by The Preservers to keep them from dieing out as a race, like other endangered species of the universe! The makeup is almost as good as the special effects!

Captain Grigory does the hokey pokey in an attempt at communication with the Vulcan! That's what it's all about!

Ensign T'Noshi figures out that these people are so primitive, they don't even understand the basics of being a Vulcan, so she attempts to teach them a few things, like how to throw a Vulcan gang sign!

"The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky" was shot entirely (except for the interior scenes) at Radium Springs Gardens in Albany, Georgia, and that just might have something to do with the natural looking radioactive atmosphere! Randall says it was hot and humid, and there was an incessant drone of cicada that caused endless sound problems, but you have to admit once again, it might have been hot, but it sure looks cool!

While you admire this shot I'll tell you that the music for "The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky" was written by Steve Gallant! Here's a short sample for your enjoyment!

In this scene, Sara Higgins Mackenzie as T'Hima takes out incompetent guard Krin-tu as played by Randall Landers!

The leader of the backwoods Vulcans is called Sarat, and was played by Dennis Proulx! He's a pretty evil bastard, and after he got his hands onto Ensign T'Noshi's raygun, he shot his own man Krin-tu, then T'Hima, and then he started taking out the kids! Not a nice person!

After being separated, Captain Grigory and Ensign T'Noshi' are reunited back on board the starship! Nice view!!

Captain Grigory has taken a sworn vow never to interfere in other civilization's business unless members of his crew are involved in a life threatening situation, but it's just eating way at him that Sarat is getting away with being such an asshole, so he returns to the  planet, only to find that Sarat has now torched the entire living area of his rivals!

That did it! Vow or no vow, it's time to wipe the smirk of this jerk's face for all eternity!

I wish I had time to put up a still of each and every character involved in this project, because they all deserve kudos, but that's just not in the stars, so for more info, here's the IMDB link!
