GIANT FROM THE UNKNOWN - Albert Glasser - "Care Baers" (1958)

The Baer family should have really been called the "Bear" family considering the average size and power of Brothers Max and Buddy Baer, and even, Jethro, I mean Max Baer Jr. What a family!!! Max Baer, at 6'4", and once Heavyweight Champion of the world, with a record of 72-12 with 52 knockouts was the older brother of Buddy Baer who towered over most folks at 6'7", and who also had remarkable Heavyweight boxing career with an awesome record of 50-7 with 43 knockouts, but he could never pull the string when it came down to winning the championship, and it took my main man Joe Louis to stop him, so he went on to play giants and big guys in a lot of films instead, and "Giant From The Unknown" is one of those titan roles!!!!

They just don't make cop cars like this Plymouth anymore, that's for sure!!

Dungeon Icons Morris Ankrum and Bob Steele as Dr. Frederick Cleveland, and Sherriff Parker!! What a pair of guys!!

The local hero is portrayed by none other than Ed Kemmer, who, besides being on every conceivable TV show in the 60's, was also, as you all know, Commander Buzz Corry in 68 episodes of "Space Patrol!"

Look close, and you'll see that the giant wasn't buried that good or that deep!!

The "GIANT" music for this feature was composed by the master of 'Large' music, Albert Glasser himself, who we have written about too many times because of all his varied work with none other than Mr. B.I.G. himself on "BIG" movies like "The Spider," The Cyclops" and "The Amazing Colossal Man" just to name a few!!

And if Buddy wasn't big enough by himself, put a big helmet on him, get a small girl, and put her downhill from him! Just like the "Mysterey Spot" in Santa Cruz!!

Like all the guys in 1958, Buddy really liked Sally!!!

And why not?? Everybody loved Sally!!

For this role, Buddy's makeup was by the master Jack Pierce!!

Don't worry kid, you're only seven feet up, it won't hurt much!!

Richard Cunha should be congratulated for directing this work of fine art!! And here's one final shot of "how many million cowboy movies has he been in" Bob Steele, the effervescent Sally Fraser, and the omnipotent "Doctor, General or Chief" Morris Ankrum!

Ed Kemmer ain't no Joe Louis, but somehow manages to take the giant out for the final count!!!

UFO TARGET EARTH - "We Know What We Saw (Vivian)" (1974)

In modern text lingo, if you write UFO backwards, it's O,FU!! I think you get the idea of where this film is heading and where it's been. Once again, I hate to be redundant, but "UFO Target Earth", is the embodiment of why we've decided to mostly review films of the 50's and 60's, I mean after all, let's face it, a little bit of the 70's goes a long ways!!

Can you say Wollensak??? Oh, to only have those tapes again!!!

Hey Baby, I like your jacket and shades!!! AaOooh!!!!

Oh, Man, oh man, those 70's studs are on the prowl tonight!!

This has got to be the most flagrant boom mike in the shot scene in film history!!

Setting up the big chingadero watchamacallit thingamajig, and backwards no less!! That really takes some huevos!!

This sound sample is prefect, it starts off with the worst "Bread" knockoff you ever heard, and segues into some of the most deranged off kilter, off key "Country Love" disco imaginable; it was actually contorting my face too, to listen to it, until the cool funky bass driven drivel distracted me!

Sorry I don't know who did the music, I can't seem to find the credit info online, and they're unreadable on a 20 pack copy!

INVASION OF THE ANIMAL PEOPLE / Jerry Warren - 1962 / Music by Harry Arnold + Allan Johansson?

Tonight, Tabonga bring you 'nother Frankenstein-Zombie flick from good old Jerry Warren, he never fail to amaze, which Tabonga ironically mean, disappoint!!!

Music probably by original dude from TERROR IN THE MIDNIGHT SUN, who know? We try not to give Jerry credit when not diserving...

Tabonga' pet tarantula come strolling into room and he ready to push big red button for... INVASION OF BIG MUPPET MONSTER!

Of course, John get big pay for half day work to talk, talk, talk... About not anything even God understand, but, what else new wif' Jer?..

Lapplander get it wrong again, once in 1959 and now! It a UFO!!!

Okay, here is very good example o' Tabonga' fatal flaw, gurl! Face like that always sucker Tabonga into shooting own self with Cupid' arrow!

Barbara Wilson have only 17 (Tabonga' lucky number!) acting credit, but with title THE GIRL IN THE RED VELVET SWING, TEENAGE DOLL, BLOOD OF DRACULA, THE FLESH EATERS and THE REVENGE OF THE LIVING DEAD!

UFO plow into Timmie' miniature mountain, then alien flip on boob tube to see what on! Some flick about dude walking in snow outside some UFO... boring!

Tabonga put photo here to show excellent composition by cinemaphotographer dude!

See how cute monster is?.. Big head alien need to get lots more sun!.. And, ski patrol dude gots surprise for visitor from space!

Not even his fault, ski patrol dude throw torch on poor animal-thing...

Then, alien leave without say goodbye! They all pissed because have to be in stupid Jerry Warren flick!!

THE BLOOD OF FU MANCHU - Daniel White - "The Ballad Of Sancho Lopez" (1969)

Okay, FU this, the word came down the pike, so we're taking over!! We're sending number one son, Fu Manchu out to do the dirty work for us, and if everybody just cooperates, nobody will get hurt much!! Just don't mess with The Man, cause you don't want to rile up "The Blood Of Fu Manchu"!!! He's got a bit of a temper!!

Okay, Hit the big gong Charlie, so we can introduce....

Christopher Lee as Fu Manchu!!
Fu Manchu has plans for you, and the rest of the world!

World Domination one chick at a time!!

But here's the weird part, because this is a Jesus Franco film, for my money, Ricardo Palacios as Sancho Lopez is the real star!!!

Sancho doesn't have plans for world domination, but just kicks a lot of ass on a local level!! I swear if they were to remake this film, they'd have to cast Jack Black as Sancho Lopez!!

Sancho likes to bring his band of outlaws to town so they can do their version of the hokey-pokey, the village-pillage!! Have fun or die!!

Sancho sez, "Everybody Dancing, C'Mon, everybody dance!!" And even if he's drunker than a skunk, you better do it!!

So here you are, smack dab in the middle of an English movie about an Oriental dude, and what's coming out of your speakers, a whole lot of Mexican music!! It's Great!

Music Melon Makeout Party!! Es Una Paraíso!!!

Ricardo Palacios had a long and varied career, and this was basically his first big role in an English speaking film, and he threw everything he had into it! It's too bad he's such a vicious, diabolical, cutthroat killer, but, everybody has some faults!! He turns out to be quite the foil for Mr. Manchu!!

I think this one still would reap as much curiosity as a two minute trailer!! I mean, wouldn't you like to know what's going on??

So, No, don't worry, Fu Manchu is still coming to get you, that part didn't change!!

Monster Music

Monster Music
AAARRGGHHH!!!! Ya'll Come On Back Now, Y'Hear??
