SIX UNSUNG HEROS OF THE DUNGEON!

We don't have a "Dungeon Hall Of Fame," but once in a while we will call somebody a Dungeon Hero because we really like them for whatever reason. There is no list, and we've actually never even discussed it between the two of us because we don't need to. I did a search of our site for "Dungeon Hero" and I came up with 47 different names, so I'm going to start with a list in no particular order, of six guys I call some of the..........
"Unsung Heroes of The Dungeon."

First up is John Hoyt, and I never knew until I started writing this, that an alternate title for "Attack Of The Puppet People" was "Six Inches Tall." In the tube is another Dungeon Hero, John Agar!

I also never knew John was such a stud!

"Attack Of The Puppet People" was just about as good as it got for 1958!
John as The Puppeteer was kind of like Joe Biden, seems nice, but creepy!

Next up is one of our favourite bad guys, Milton Reid! Before his acting career, Milton was a professional wrassler known as "Mighty Chang!" It really is cool how many wrasslers and boxers have gone on to be actors! That's gotta be the toughest way to break into the business, but it still works to this day!

No credits on the poster, but at least they used his image!

Wow! Milton gets a cutting torch to the face in this poster for "Mission Desperate."

Gil Perkins is our next Unsung Hero!

What could be better than a 51 year old dude playing a "Teenage Monster?"

Gil Perkins has played a "Teenage Monster" and a guy named "Cauliflower," you got something better than that?

This is from just one of the many amazing "Batman" TV shows!

This 30 minute episode titled "Ring Around The Riddler" included Yvonne Craig as Batgirl....

...........And  also featured the amazing Joan Collins as "The Siren," but I digress.

Anthony Eisley is one of the most unappreciated actors of all time, and his work in "The Mighty Gorga," or "The Mummy And The Curse Of The Jackals" should attest to that! That's Anthony with the mustache as Tracy Steele on "Hawaiian Eye!"

And if that's not enough proof, there's always the immaculate reception also known as "Dracula Vs. Frankenstein!"

Jeff Morrow should be a common household name like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood for his contributions to cinema, but unfortunately he's not!

I couldn't pick between these two international posters for "The Creature Walks Among Us," they're both so insane! Look at how big the creature is in this bottom poster, and how about those hawk feet?

"This Island Earth" came out in 1955. It was so far ahead of it's time and Jeff Morrow was a big part of it! What a krazy action packed poster!

The last guy on this list is Jake LaMotta who only has one movie we've ever written about here called "Confessions Of A Psycho Cat," but that's not the reason he's on this list! Jake actually has 18 acting credits, and has a movie that was made about his own life, the classic "Raging Bull." Jake's boxing record was 83 wins, 19 losses. and 4 draws, and they were all battles!

The reason Jake LaMotta is on this list is because he's Jake LaMotta, and that's just good enough!

BERSERK - Herman Cohen -"Your Front Row Seat To Murder!" (1967)

This Saturday Night Special has some extra hot sauce on it, and lives up to it's title because it's..
"BERSERK!"

"BERSERK" is an extra special movie on multiple levels, but I'll just try and hit some of the high points! "BERSERK" was a Herman Cohen production, and without Herman Cohen, we wouldn't have had many of the best 50's and 60's horror and monster movies! Seriously, Herman was responsible for I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN, BLOOD OF DRACULA, HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM, KONGA, BLACK ZOO, and HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER, but despite all that, Tabonga will never forgive him for destroying all the original Paul Blaisdell monster masks in the fire in HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER!

"BERSERK" has a super amazing all-star cast that includes Joan Crawford and Michael Gough!
Dwrayger Dungeon 101!

Nice shot of Joan!

Although I must admit, Michael's role is short-lived!!

"BERSERK" is very similar to "Horrors Of The Black Museum," and "Black Zoo," in fact, it probably should have been titled "BLACKSERK!"

Joan spends a lot of time skulking around the circus in that red cape like some kind of bloodsucker!

It's not often you get to see a good old fashioned cat fight anymore!

This must have completely mortified Joan!

Again, what an amazing array of 60's Pop culture!
Left to right, Judy Geeson, Ty Hardin, Joanie, and The Siren of Swindon, Diana Dors!

As expected, this 'saw the woman in half' trick didn't work out that great for Diana!

Right about here was the most WTF!?  moment watching movies I've had lately! You know what, I'll just let you judge for yourself!  Watch it right here, "The Freak Song"  and let me know what you think! Had Herman Cohen been influenced by the musical version of "Jack The Giant Killer?" What a great group, and the chrome dome gentleman on the far right is Dungeon Hero Milton Reid!

I really didn't know that Batman and Robin were in the circus in 1967!

Herman Cohen must have really liked the circus, or it just made for a cheap but interesting stage for his movie, and personally I liked "BERSERK" a lot, but I would have liked it a lot better minus about 25 minutes of real time circus acts!

"BERSERK" is a movie that's just dying to be seen! Watch it as a triple feature with "Black Zoo," and "Horrors Of The Black Museum!!!
Now that's an original 60's power trio!!

DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN / American International Pictures - 1972

Here we go into the unknown and possible the end of the stinking world here in 2017, so, we'll let good old Dr. Phibes handle the crazies... Our story goes like this... The Moon rises at a predestined angle and awakens the sleeping Dr. Phibes three years after his last series of clever but insane murders. To his complete dismay, he finds that his house has been demolished and his precious papyrus scrolls stolen, the scrolls he needs to find the Pharoah's Tomb in Egypt, where the River of Life is located! After identifying the source of the papyrus theft, he packs up and leaves for Egypt with his assistant, Vulnavia, and, is still intent upon awakening his beloved dead wife, Victoria.

The many stars in this movie include Vincent (MADHOUSE) Price, Robert (COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE) Quarry, Peter (THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN) Cushing, Peter (COUNTESS DRACULA) Jeffrey, Hugh (CRY OF THE BANSHEE) Griffith, Terry- (IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD)Thomas, and more.

Here's Milton (DR. NO) Reid as Cheng. He's the first of Phibes' victims, he discovers that the snakes invading his room are nothing more than wind up toys, well, until a real viper bites him on the arm! When he goes to the phone to call a doctor, Vulnavia pushes a button and Cheng gets a metal rod through his head! And, he's dead!!

Peter plays The Captain, he's checking in to see how his investigators are doing on the case... They tell him they have nothing!

Terry-Thomas plays Lombardo, a real busy-body of a character. Love the gap in Terry's front teeth (although, not seen in this shot).

This is the most hair raising scene! This poor guy gets the works, he's clamped down in the chair and a ton of black scorpions attack him!.. Check out the one going down his pants! Like, freakin' OOUUUCCCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

While the dude says goodbye to this world, Vulnavia plays the violin as Phibes enjoys some fruit. Now, that's what I call... Satisfaction!

For the Hell of it, here's a nice shot of Dr. Phibes' very cool band, The Alexandrian Quartet.

And, for the halibut, I had to show a pic of this old out of control pick up driving through the Egyptian desert... Hey! Watch Out!!

Phibes' insidious death traps just keep coming until all his enemies are dead!

But, there's a wild twist at the end, watch the movie to see what happens! I ain't sayin'.

And, Victoria finally joins Phibes, here, she goes into their special love palace! Join us again while we just keep rolling along as we start our eleventh year, here for you, at, The Dungeon!
