BERSERK - Herman Cohen -"Your Front Row Seat To Murder!" (1967)

This Saturday Night Special has some extra hot sauce on it, and lives up to it's title because it's..
"BERSERK!"

"BERSERK" is an extra special movie on multiple levels, but I'll just try and hit some of the high points! "BERSERK" was a Herman Cohen production, and without Herman Cohen, we wouldn't have had many of the best 50's and 60's horror and monster movies! Seriously, Herman was responsible for I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN, BLOOD OF DRACULA, HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM, KONGA, BLACK ZOO, and HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER, but despite all that, Tabonga will never forgive him for destroying all the original Paul Blaisdell monster masks in the fire in HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER!

"BERSERK" has a super amazing all-star cast that includes Joan Crawford and Michael Gough!
Dwrayger Dungeon 101!

Nice shot of Joan!

Although I must admit, Michael's role is short-lived!!

"BERSERK" is very similar to "Horrors Of The Black Museum," and "Black Zoo," in fact, it probably should have been titled "BLACKSERK!"

Joan spends a lot of time skulking around the circus in that red cape like some kind of bloodsucker!

It's not often you get to see a good old fashioned cat fight anymore!

This must have completely mortified Joan!

Again, what an amazing array of 60's Pop culture!
Left to right, Judy Geeson, Ty Hardin, Joanie, and The Siren of Swindon, Diana Dors!

As expected, this 'saw the woman in half' trick didn't work out that great for Diana!

Right about here was the most WTF!?  moment watching movies I've had lately! You know what, I'll just let you judge for yourself!  Watch it right here, "The Freak Song"  and let me know what you think! Had Herman Cohen been influenced by the musical version of "Jack The Giant Killer?" What a great group, and the chrome dome gentleman on the far right is Dungeon Hero Milton Reid!

I really didn't know that Batman and Robin were in the circus in 1967!

Herman Cohen must have really liked the circus, or it just made for a cheap but interesting stage for his movie, and personally I liked "BERSERK" a lot, but I would have liked it a lot better minus about 25 minutes of real time circus acts!

"BERSERK" is a movie that's just dying to be seen! Watch it as a triple feature with "Black Zoo," and "Horrors Of The Black Museum!!!
Now that's an original 60's power trio!!

A Freakin' Merry LOST IN SPACE Xmas! / The Toymaker - 1967

Well, I ended up with the Xmas day posting this year, I literally pulled this one out of my.. Err... Knot hole! Just got this set this week, and, I found this LOST IN SPACE episode actually had an Xmas tie in, soooo... Happy Newk Year, Ever'bloody!

I have a sound clip for your approval, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button located there by our mile high coal pile, NOW, Rufus The Gnat!.. Here are some Xmas sounds from... THE TOYMAKER!

The story starts with Will and Dr. Smith coming across a strange machine just sitting in the middle of nowhere! They figure out it's some kind of toy dispenser.

The robot warns Dr. Smith to quit screwing around, but, NOOO!.. Again, he's sure he's the only one that knows what they're doing, a reoccurring fatal flaw of his.

Some of the technology on this show requires an ample helping of your suspended disbelief. Anyway, Dr. Smith disappears into the big box and Will runs back to the ship to tell his mommy!

So, mom goes and tells dad and Major West all about another problem caused by Dr. Smith. As always, they have to stop what they're doing (usually some life or death situation) and help.

In the meantime, Will runs back to the box and, what else, gets himself trapped in there too.

They meet up with O. M. (Old Man), played by Walter (JACK THE GIANT KILLER) Burke. He's friendly but a little kookie! And, he doesn't like Dr. Smith.

Love these two shots, a typical device the men used throughout the series, this time used to lower some dynamite into a crevasse and then Professor Robinson with the robot, in red.

Back in the toy factory, Will hears some Xmas noises coming from behind a boarded up area. The little beaver tears a plank off and him and Dr. Smith watch the festivities back on Earth!

But, one of the old toymaker's wind up monsters is on the prowl and corners the two. The despicable doctor uses Will as a human shield yet again when faced with any type of danger!

The owner of the toy machine, Fritz (mouth pop, heal click) Feld, shows up and everything turns out hunky dory, except for Dr. Smith...

Professor Robinson invites everyone to go fishing to celebrate the event!.. A Merry Xmas to all, and to all, see you tomorrow!

THE VEIL (Tales Of The Unexplained) - "Food On The Table" (1958)

"The Veil" was a television show from 1958 that ran for 12 episodes, and was hosted by Mr. Boris Karloff! Boris also acted in a number of the episodes! Since the stories were all supposedly based on true tales, a more appropriate and mysterious re-release title was "Tales Of The Unexplained!"

Welcome to Wednesday Weirdness down in The Dungeon, and the third episode of the veil, which was entitled "Food On The Table!"

"The Veil" is not much more than a showcase for Boris Karloff, and what could possibly be wrong with that?

This is probably just stock footage, but it's still a pretty cool shot!

Great matte painting of the olde homestead!

Bars will be bars!!

Well, Captain, you've been out to sea for 3 months, don't you want to get home and diddle your wife?
No, it's all right, she'll still be there when I get there!

This place has always felt more like home anyway!

Boris plays Captain John Elwood! You gotta love Boris, but John's a bastard!

Kay (THE GHOST BREAKERS, THE SQUARE JUNGLE, PANIC!) Stewart is Captain John's wife Ruth Elwood! Kay also had the super rare distinction of playing Maynard Krebs' Mother in one episode of "The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis!" When John didn't come home, Ruth went to the club to look for him, and when John told her to go on home, and he'd be there when he gets there, she leaves through the banquet room and upends all the food and dishes that were spread out on the table for John's big welcome home party!

The Captain already didn't like his wife, so this little incident didn't help things at all! The very distinctive face of Captain Barney there on the right belongs to Tudor Owen of "The Black Castle," "101 Dalmatians," "Jack The Giant Killer" etc fame! Tudor also starred in the"Twilight Zone" episode called "Captain of Lusitania!"

The Captain's ship was inundated with poisonous snakes, and one came on land via his luggage, and when Ruth Elwood goes to unpack his case, she gets bitten by a snake!

Throwing away a good opportunity to rid himself of Ruth forever, Captain Elwood saves her life just in time!

Ruth Elwood is so thankful to her husband, she really wants to make it all up to him, and be the best wife in the world! My Grandma used to make Afghan quilts just like that one!

Captain Elwood finds out from Captain Barney that one of the ladies in town just recently became a widow, and that she was heir to twenty thousand dollars, enough to buy him a new vessel, so he suggests to Ruth that the next time he goes out to sea, she should go with him! It'll be a lot of fun! She protests because she is super prone to seasickness, but the Captain insists, so she goes along!

His real intention was to poison her after they got far far away, and beyond help!

Before she dies, the Captain confesses what he has done to her!

Captain Elwood is just cooling his heels for a year when Captain Barney suggests to him that maybe enough time has passed since his wife's death, and he should seek greener pastures like that widow lady!  Captain Elwood weakly resists, but then decides to agree with Captain Barney!

Time for another celebration, and the dishes and food go flying all over the place, and land in the same exact positions as they did when Ruth turned the whole place topsy-turvy the first time!

I didn't kill her I tell you!!!! (Nobody said you did, but since you brought it up!!!)
All 12 episodes of "The Veil" are available in a two disc set for next to nothing! A better bargain will be hard to find!!
