DEEP IN THE FOREST - "Coming May 31, 2022"

I just got an email that on May 31, 2022, a new movie by my favorite modern filmmaker, Jeremy Dylan Lanni, is going to be released in digital and on demand formats by Saban Films.

The movie is titled "Deep In The Forest," and if it's like any of Jeremy's other works, then it's something to be very excited about!

If you happen not to know who Jeremy is, he's the guy that brought us the amazing "Conjuring Orson" in 2014.

Jeremy is also responsible for the brilliant film "Anywhere, U.S.A." made in 2017.

"Deep In The Forest" is a tense, taut political thriller about a future nobody wants to believe will ever happen, but seems more plausible by the day.
It was written and directed by Jeremy Dylan Lanni, and features the talents of Ursula Brooks, Derwin Jordan, Stuart Pankin, Peter Jason, P.J. Ochlan, Wendy Worthington, Eva Abramian, Will Bradley, Jedidia Dyer, Larry Cedar, Keith Stevenson, Spencer Martin, Cela Scott, Ross Frasier, Duane Johnson, and Roger M. Maye.
If you want to get a good taste of what it's all about, then
It's not like we weren't warned! Back in the 70's The Firesign Theatre tried to tell us, but few listened,

TERMINAL CITY RICOCHET - "Don't Touch That Dial" (1990)

Ludicrous, ridiculous, and yet somehow, 29 years later, more pertinent than ever, tonight's Saturday Night Special is a 1990 flick called "Terminal City Ricochet."

Some things just don't change. Government has been a scary joke for quite a while now!

Just like this blog, "Free Cheap Bargains" are plentiful!

What's your favorite flavour of Pie in the Sky?
 Apple, peach, lemon, grape?

The concept of a "Mass Murder Magazine" is really sick, but the headline of "Rock Star Kills Audience" is pretty funny!

What can I tell you about a movie like this?
Well, it was made in Canada, and "The Terminal City Richochets" were a real hockey team, and I think that about wraps it up!

Remember, "The Firesign Theatre" said it best!
"The Future is Now!"

From beginning to end, the movie is obsessed with space junk falling from the sky!

Peter Breck is mesmerizing as Mayor Ross Gilmore, a man of dreams, and other people's nightmares.

I could be wrong, but it looked like Peter was having fun with this role.
Peter was in everything from "The Crawling Hand," to 112 episodes of "The Big Valley."

Some of the sight gags are pretty funny!

"Terminal City Ricochet" also has a terrific soundtrack with real bands like D.O.A., The Beatnigs, Jello Biafra, Nomeansno, The Grooveaholics, etc. performing or just providing the music. This guy reminds me too much of "The Cat In The Hat."

Eric Reed Boucher aka Jello Biafra himself has the role of wormdog Bruce Coddle.

So just let it out! Let it all out!

What a campaign!

It goes on way too long, but it has to, so you can try and take in everything that's going on here!

What a charismatic guy! C'Mon, you know you'd vote for him too!

And that's just the way it is!

Here's D.O.A. with the song from the ending credits called "Behind The Smile."

GUMBY- "Haunted Hot Dog" (1967)

How's about some Gumby on this Weird Wednesday Countdown To Halloween?
I put this little piece together, it looks like Gumby is getting ready to play golf on some super strange graveyard golf course, and it makes about as much sense as anything else in the world these days!

"Haunted Hot Dog" is without a doubt a great title, but just like in The Stooge's "Fright Night," the title is a lot spookier than any of the action!

This Gumby short starts off with a stray dog stealing some sausages from the local butcher shop!

The dog books on down the road with the butcher in hot pursuit and heads to the outskirts of town!

Meanwhile, our heroes Gumby and Pokey are out for an afternoon cruise in the country!

Just like the last time I used The Firesign Theatre's 'empty' gag, the E does not stand for Excellent on a gas gauge!

This is what I saw when I looked at that gas gauge still!

Luckily there's a house nearby that might either have some gas or at least a phone!

Pokey's not so sure, but Gumby opens the door after nobody answers to their knocks!

 Hmmmmm, the place seems abandoned!

The dog shows up and starts making a racket!

When they hear it, Gumby and Pokey get real scared, and end up making some noise themselves!

Which, in turn, scares the dog, so they all scared each other and end up comforting each other at the same time!

Gumby questions the origin of the hot dogs!

The moral of the story?
It's a Hollow Weenie!!

ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN MARVEL / Republic 12 Chapter Serial - 1941

In today's thrilling serial, on a scientific expedition to Siam, young Billy Batson is given the ability to change himself into the super-powered Captain Marvel by the Wizard Shazam, who tells him his powers will last only as long as the Golden Scorpion idol is threatened. After finding the idol, the scientists realize it could be the most powerful weapon in the world and so they remove the lenses that energize it, distributing them among themselves so that no one would be able to use the idol by himself! Back in the US, Billy Batson, as Captain Marvel, wages a battle against an evil hooded figure, the Scorpion, who hopes to accumulate all five lenses, thereby gaining control of the super-powerful weapon...

Stars are Tom (THE PHANTOM) Tyler, Frank (MEN OF BOY TOWN) Coghlan Jr., William 'Billy' (THE MAGNETIC MONSTER) Benedict and Louise (CITIZEN KANE - lived to be 100!) Currie

Here are our main characters...

And, who is The Scorpion?..

Inside a tomb in Siam, young Billy Batson meets the Wizard Shazam, who gives him the guise of the superman, Captain Marvel, to combat the criminals in search of The Golden Scorpion and its awesome powers.

Now, here are some 'next week' chapter title cards...

Those are some great titles!!

Here's The Scorpion with his cohort, discussing ways to to get all the lenses to The Golden Scorpion in their possession, and wreak even more havoc!

Through all 12 chapters, Captain Marvel confronts a bevy of evil traps!

There's always confusion as to who's a good guy and who's a bad guy!

Whitey calls Billy on the radio and warns him of a bomb in his airplane, Billy sez "Shazam" and turns into Captain Marvel and jumps out just before the plane explodes!

Captain Marvel is one strong mofo, the bad guys drop an engine on him, he catches it and tosses it like it's nothing! This is one of the funniest parts in Firesign Theatre's J-MEN FOREVER! So, check in tomorrow as Eegah!! gives it his all to bring you something special... Good Luck!
