DR. JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE - "Shock! After Shock!" (1971)

This evening's Sick Sister Saturday Night Special is the 1971 twisted film "Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde!"
I never can figure out stuff like why would they put a picture of two naked people on the poster, and they are not even the people in the movie.

"Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde" is a real gender bender of a movie! The obvious twist is that after Dr. Jekyll drinks his potion, instead of turning into the Mr. Hyde villian, he turns into a beautiful evil woman instead!

Well that describes about half the men in the town!

Ralph Bates is Dr. Henry Jekyll. Ralph was just finishing up his two year run of Hammer films that included "Horror Of Frankenstein," "Taste The Blood Of Dracula," and "Lust For A Vampire."
Ralph himself succumbed to cancer at the age of 51.

Where else would Dr. Jekyll live besides behind door 13?

Dr. Jekyll wasn't really a bad person, in fact he was totally dedicated to curing the ills of society, except for the killing of the whores for their hearts part.. When Dr. Jekyll does a test run of his bloody potion on a fly, it changes sex from a male to a female, but it doesn't really concern him that much.

The notorious London grave robbers Burke and Hare help the Doctor get what he needs!

Yeah, I'd say he fits the bill all right!

Dr. Jekyll ingests the serum that he has made...........

...........With startling results, even to himself!

Essentially, there are two reasons to watch "Dr, Jekyll And Sister Hyde,"
Martine Beswick................

 ......And Martine Beswick!

Maybe his greatest achievement, the Doctor seems quite pleased to have boobs!

The locals catch up to Burke and Hare, so the good Doctor has to go out and do his/her own dirty work now!

Martine Beswick came out of retirement in 2019 to make a film with two other classic Hammer beauties, Caroline Munro and Virginia Carlson titled "House Of The Gorgon," and it looks like they are still trying to raise enough money to release it, but you can watch a trailer on YouTube!

I'm sure you know the story, the Doctor's life is now spiraling out of control!

Dr. Jekyll is getting weaker, and Sister Hyde is taking over, but he/she can switch back at any given time, and it's not usually good timing either.

The end was already per-determined!

This is quite a fascinating still since you never really see the two of them together in the movie!

THE LAST HORROR FILM - Joe Spinell (1982)

Tonight's Saturday Night Special is dedicated to my dear friend Zillagord, since he's the only person I know that is sleazier than Joe Spinell in this flick, and he knows just exactly why!

It's sometimes known as "The Last Horror Movie," or sometimes..
"Fanatical Extreme!"

Joseph J. Spagnuolo, aka Joe Spinell is Vinny, a super loser New York cab driver who wants to make movies!

Vinny is slightly obsessed with a beautiful actress named Jana Bates!

Vinny's fanatical fandom for Jana, who is going to be at the Cannes Film Festival, makes him decide to go there, and plead with her to be in his movie!

Once in Cannes, this movie goes one hundred percent Screaming Yellow Bonkers with a Zima Bloody Mary chaser!

Vinny has many visions of his fame and fortune, but unfortunately for him, they're only in his head!

If life was a pinball machine, then this movie got tilted!

Let the carnage begin!!

SAY CHEESE!!

Dungeon super-heroine Caroline Munro is the good sport actress Jana Bates that Vinny is so fixated on! Right here, she looks like she just tried one of my refrigerator pickles!
You can read about some of Caroline's other fantastic films including "Star Crash" (Which also featured Joe Spinell), "The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad," and "Don't Open Till Christmas" right

So, one by one, all the people associated with Jana Bates are getting gruesomely picked off, and Vinny seems to be up to his neck in some serious bullshit!

There's no shortage of nudity, that's for sure but then they are in the French Riviera, where people aren't so uptight about that thing because they don't eat cheeseburgers five times a week!!

Vinny is a little insecure and calls his Mom a few times to tell her how successful he is!
I love this part! Vinny's Mother is played by Filomena Spagnuolo, aka Mary Spinnel, who is actually Joe Spinell's real Mom! She also has 13 other acting credits!

They also don't eat French Fries with those Cheeseburgers in Cannes!
Brilliant location choice for a film!

Vinny's wild obsession with Jana Bates makes him do fun things like project her face on his naked body!

Vinny goes to a strip club, and this hot stripper drives him so insane that he jumps on the stage and starts humping her! He's quickly removed from the premises!

Vinny's visions are pretty comical most of the time!

After getting snubbed time and time again, Vinny decides to try the more direct approach!

This doesn't work out to well for him either!

Now Jana is out of there and off running down the street, but when the people of Cannes recognize her, they just all think it's a publicity stunt, and don't try and help her at all!!

The end is a twisted mess of a movie inside a movie!

In his own warped mind, Vinny thinks he's the big winner instead of the big loser that he really is!

The final scene shows Vinny and his Mother sharing a joint!
To tell you the truth, I didn't really like "The Last Horror Film" that much when I was watching it, but after it was over, I kept thinking, you know, that really wasn't that bad of a movie!!
Joe Spinell died in 1989 at the age of 52, and his Mother passed away two years earlier in 1987 at the age of 83. What a killer family!
So, let's just hope North Korea and the United States stop their chest thumping shenanigans, or this just might truly be "The Last Horror Film!"
Oh, and I just found out, if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can watch this movie for nothing, and I suggest you do!

THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD - Ray Harryhausen - "The Miracle Of Dynarama!" (1973)

Welcome to another Wild and Woolly Wednesday in The Dungeon!
How's this for a cool Zodiacal poster?
There were four Sinbad movies from 1958 to 1977. "The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad" was number three. The second film in the group titled simply "Captain Sinbad" in 1963 was done by a completely different production company from the other three, and is the only one that has no connection to Ray Harryhausen! Four different good looking guys played Sinbad in those four movies, Kerwin Mathews, Guy Williams, John Phillip Law, and Patrick Wayne!

"The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad" is basically a 15 year old sequel to the 1958 feature, "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad!"

There's lots of hocus pocus mumbo jumbo, because otherwise, there would be no story!

"The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad" has a solid cast that includes Tom (Dr. Who) Baker as Koura, an evil man with the power to create life like this little fellah!

"The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad" is basically a puzzle story used to showcase the talents of the master of stop motion animation, Ray Harryhausen! Ray also co-wrote and co-produced the film, so it all makes sense!

Dungeon Prom Queen Caroline Munro as slave girl Margiana, is more than happy to leave her master and go out on the high seas of adventure with Captain Sinbad! This movie came right in between "Dr. Phibes Rises Again," and "Captain Kronos - Vampire Killer" in Caroline's career, so now you know why she's the Queen! Caroline has two films set to be released in 2017, "Cute Little Buggers," and "315 Wicked Way!" We hope they slay the box office!

I'm sure the conversation went something like this: Ray Harryhausen says, "Wouldn't it be neat if the wooden figurehead on the front of the ship came alive?" and everybody else says, "Hell Yeah!!"

This is the kind of shot I set as my wallpaper on a regular basis!

Marvel decided to take a chance on Captain Sinbad too. Their "Worlds Unknown" was set to feature science fiction stories, but when it got to number seven, they totally switched gears and went with a Captain Sinbad story! The number eight issue of "Worlds Unknown" also featured a "Golden Voyage Of Sinbad" story! That's as far as it went! There was never an issue #9 or any other titled "Worlds Unknown!"

This comic came from down under, and that explains why it's so much more wild than the other one!

This is one of the most unbelievable group of  'natives' I've ever seen! Looks more like a meeting of the local chapter of the "Alice Cooper Fan Club!"

Douglas (Nayland Smith) Wilmer is a cat named Vizier, and his burden is that he has to wear this metal mask all the time because his face was horribly disfigured  in a fire!

Out of nowhere, Sinbad needs a distraction from the natives, so he tells Vizier to take off the mask, and it scares the living crap out of everybody!

Kali, a real Hindu Goddess, does a mean boog-a-loo at the hands of Ray Harryhausen!

The six-armed Goddess cuts a pretty mean rug, but the fun and games are all over when she sprouts six swords too!

More royal creds for Caroline are "The Abominable Dr. Phibes," "Dracula A.D. 1972," "At The Earth's Core," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Starcrash," "Maniac," "The Last Horror Film," and "Slaughter High!"

As this Cyclops Centaur lusts after Margiana, I think it's safe to say in retrospect, that this movie was made in 1973, and The Sex Pistols hit the scene in 1975.........

........................and I'm pretty sure this is where Sid Vicious got his hair style from!

Let's have one last round of applause for a damn fine looking couple, John Phillip (Diabolik) Law, and Caroline (Stella Star) Munro!

Ray Harryhausen changed the name of his effects company from Dynamation to Dynarama because I'm sure it sounded more dynamically dynamite! He did the stop motion effects in two more movies after this, "Sinbad And The Eye Of The Tiger" in 1977, and "Clash Of The Titans" in 1981!" He passed away in 2013, and that's it! There will never be another!
