Okay so, on an island somewhere in the Caribbean, a guy named Charlie Davis has declared himself the head honcho, and if you don't obey his commands, well, you'll face the wrath of his fist and whip!!
Love these painted title cards the best!.. This one stars good old Bruce Bennett as 'Mister Charlie' and boss of the island. Bruce was born in Tacoma, Washington, and died in 2007 at the ripe old age of 100 in Santa Monica! Just prior to this feature, he played Dr. Karl Sorenson in THE COSMIC MAN and Dr. Eric Lorimer in THE ALLIGATOR PEOPLE. In this one he plays a drunk maniac. This movie is a fun watch, all the people are authentic looking and the over acting from Bruce is the whipped cream with a cherry on top!
And, if you don't believe me about the whip, Mr. Charlie will be happy to oblige...
Our hero is Charlie's helper, David, played by Robert Bray. He began his career after the war and had an amazing 8 acting credits in 1946, 10 more in 1947 and 11 in 1948!!.. Anyway, Charlie's telling him how has has to act around the natives, treat 'em tough!
Then, Glory La Verne, an entertainer, shows up for vacation and Charlie takes her money and prevents her from leaving, Her wants her for his own, the drunken peeg! Glory's played by Tania Velia, billed as the Yugoslavian Bombshell. And prior to this, she played a Venusian Girl in QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE and a Moon Girl in MISSILE TO THE MOON! You go girl.
Glory makes the best of it and helps out around the hut. She becomes fast friends with the village people (ha ha). In one case, she has a close encounter of the curious kind with a 15 year old boy that has an extreme hatred for Mr. Charlie because he whips the people, literally!
Charlie knows that David knocked him out and helped Glory escape with her native friends. So, he pulls out his whip (whips are evil but very effective weapons).
But, David fights through the snaps and cracks and knocks Charlie on his ass time and again with his fists. David splits and goes to a secret location where he has been coordinating with the locals to fight back against the brute.
Charlie goes off the rails and into tirade mode. The villagers are part of a plan to frustrate the wild man, they burn his shit down and even shoot at his feet when he tries to leave his place!
Eventually, Charlie finds David and Glory together and he beats up David. Just when Charlie is ready to use his whip on David, the 15 year old boy (he's been practicing) takes the whip and snaps a goodern on Charlie's back!
That gets Charlie's attention!!..
Charlie just wants to get his hands on the boy and tear him from limb to limb, but as fate would have it, the kid beats him into submission with his own weapon! Oh yeah, it all takes place during a lightning storm, every time the kid makes a strike, a lightning bolt appears!
When it's time for Charlie to leave the island, his little weasel buddy causes a pile of trouble with his pals. They are there to help take back the island, but the locals are two steps ahead of them and already have a battle plan.
Charlie and David have an epic battle in the water but that Mako shark there gets the last laugh, and Charlie is a goner! Hey, a perfect ending, this movie is so cool and satisfying at the end, check it out if you can... Tune in tomorrow as Eegah!! takes hold of the old 'post' button, here, at The Dungeon!..
