BARON BLOOD / Positively The Most Horrifying Film Ever Made... - 1972

In today's story. a young man returns to Austria in search of his heritage, and there, he visits the castle of an ancestor, a sadistic Baron who was cursed to a violent death by a witch whom he had burned at the stake. The young man reads aloud the incantation that causes Baron Blood to return and continue his murderous ways!

This crazy thing stars Joseph (FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON, LATITUDE ZERO, LADY FRANKENSTEIN) Cotten, Elke (THE WRECKING CREW, LISA AND THE DEVIL, THE HOUSE OF EXORCISM) Sommer and a big pile of Euro actors to scream their heads off most of the time!

It starts with Peter and Eva (Elke) finding a place in his ancestor's castle to repeat an incantation to bring back his dead cursed relative... Baron Blood!

Welp, the damn incantation works! And, the Baron is on the loose once again... The first thing he does is pull his trusty blade out and take care of a little unfinished personal business!!

In his human form (Joseph Cotten), he has bought back his old castle. Now, he roams the corridors there, just looking for any kind of trouble that might come his way.

Okay, this guy's next on the list. A nice gruesome hanging is the order of the day!

This poor dude gets a metal spiked coffin lid shut abruptly down on his meaty face!!

Here's a fun look at the Baron's torture dungeon. Makes me think how lucky those filmmakers in Europe are, just look at this goddamn gorgeous set, wow!!

In this scene, he's even out stalking an innocent little five year old girl.

So, Eva, Peter and their friend meet at the castle with the shape shifting creep. Things go okay for a while, until...

The gang find themselves in dire straits!

Eva accidentally drops the magic amulet on the guy who got the spikes in the face.

And, he assumes the power now and the Baron loses his!.. Little baby gonna cry?!

All Hell breaks out when all the people he killed and tortured come back to life and give the Baron a dose of his own medicine!! We're back Wednesday, so, don't miss it...

I watched this, via the public library streaming service Kanopy, on Halloween evening and though character motivation was practically non-existent several scenes truly creeped me out.

Keep up the great work!
