Chris,
Tabonga and I were just discussing that very fact! Great movies like this can sometimes be better appreciated in small doses, hence a batch of awesome pictures and about 3 minutes of sound is all you need to literally, 'get the picture!'

I'll never forget the science-fiction film class I had in college. After they showed this, the entire class gave the professor a massive dirty look after he sarcastically asked, "So, how did you like it?" BORING AS HELL, with nonstop humanistic speeches .....

This has been re-released on DVD in a colorized version which actually looks pretty good. They gave it a color palette like the old sci-fi pulps.

This is a great movie. The times and 'tudes may have changed, but this is still a tremendous accomplishment.
