DER FROSCH MIT DER MASKE - Edgar Wallace - Fellowship Of The Frog (1959)

One thing I'm not even close to getting tired of is Edgar Wallace movies! I don't think I've seen a bad one yet, and "Der Frosch Mit Der Maske" is no exception!! Literally translated as "The Frog With The Mask," but that's one of the few titles it's never been released as!

The version readily available today from Sinister Cinema is called "The Fellowship Of The Frog" which is actually not a bad title since there's about 300 guys in this Frog Gang of robbers and murderers!!

The leader of the gang is called a frog for apparent reasons, and he is one mean and treacherous son of a gun, and pretty handy with a cutting torch to boot!

A Detective from Scotland Yard named Higgens tries to infiltrate the gang, but gets a little too antsy during the bust, and gets the froggy tables turned on him in no time flat!!

Betray the frog, and pay the price!! Higgens got a big dose of poison gas! What an idiot!!

Dungeon all-star Joachim Fuchsberger has the role of the American Richard Gordon, rich guy and part-time amateur sleuth! So far, I think I've seen 10 movies with Joachim in them, some day, I hope to see the other seventy-one. He's only been in three movies the last decade, but is in a TV movie scheduled for release in 2013 called "Live Is Live II: Später Geht's Nicht"

Time out to just sit back, relax and enjoy this cool shot!!

Fritz Rasp has the role of the mean old bastard boss Maitland! Fritz's career went all the way back to 1916, and in 1927 he had the role of  "The Thin Man" in the classic silent film "Metropolis," and in 1932, he was in a film called "Die Vier Vom Bob 13!"  How'd you like to work for this dour character??

If you wanted to be a member of the fellowship, it helped if you already resembled a frog a bit!!

The Lolita Club...........where men are men, and frogs are frogs, and there's no room at the bar  for little boys!

On hiatus from Andy's Gang,....... Froggy The Gremlin is the master of ceremonies at The Lolita Club!!

The main entertainment at "The Lolita Club" is none other than Lolita herself played by Eva Pflug who performs the ultra-cool "Nachts Im Nebel An Der Themse" which was written by Karl Bette, Theo M. Werner, and Hans Billian! The rest of the music in the movie was composed by Willy Mattes and an uncredited Peter Thomas!

Walter (Long Legs, Long Fingers) Wilz as Ray Bennet is being set up as the patsy by the secret frog society! The simpleton dumbass really thinks Lolita has a thing for him!

Maitland the Boss also owns The Lolita Club, although it's hard for him to enjoy anything. He's joined here by his right-hand man, Jochen (The Mysterious Magician) Brockmann as Philo Johnson!

The mysterious gentleman on the right is Carl (The Torture Chamber Of Dr. Sadism) Lange as John Bennet, stern father of dumbass Ray! He tries to get Ray to go back home with him, but Ray's not having anything to do with it! On the left is the maître d Everett as played by Ulrich (Lady Dracula) Beiger!

All the Frog members carry the mark of the frog on their wrist, so they are pretty much done for when they get busted like this!

The maître d Everett gets shot by the frog, and the rap gets pinned on Mr. Innocent Ray Bennet!!

In typical Edgar Wallace style, it's bad news for Ray Bennet when he finally finds out what his Father does for a living!!

Ray Bennet's sister Elfie von Kalckreuth as Ella has also been having her own problems with the frog!

Despite being an exceptionally tricky guy, the frog's whole world starts unraveling and spinning out of control!

The frog is such a maniac, he even fills his trusted accomplice Lolita full of holes!!

In the end, Richard Gordon and Eva Bennet stroll off together to live in his mansion happily ever after with his man-servant and best friend James, as played by Edgar Wallace stalwart Eddie Arent, trailing behind!!

CAPTAIN VIDEO Master Of The Stratosphere / Columbia Pictures Corporation - 1951

It's another end-of-the-year Friday with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. We gots one of the last Columbia serials, so, there's a lot of familiar looking hardware. This serial gets high marks mainly for its gadgets and especially, their names. For example... The 'hose-inator' sucks up poisonous gas, an 'inertializer' that paralyzes the bad guys, bombs can be defused by an 'anti-detonator,' giant binoculars named 'scanning goggles,' the 'atmospheric locator,' the 'magnetic impulse detector,' the 'diathermic accelerator,' the 'cloak of invisibility,' a 'stethapod,' an 'interference ray,' and, don't forget the very popular.. 'cosmic vibrator!'

The tinted sequences seemed lame so I desaturated the pics. And, Eegah!! sent over a great lil' soundclip for our listening experience, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button over there, NOW, Rufus The Gnat! Here's our audio offering for... CAPTAIN VIDEO!

Judd Holdren is Captain Video. Judd had an interesting film career, he played Larry Martin in ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE, Ranger Higgins in ROCKY JONES, SPACE RANGER and Commando Cody in COMMANDO CODY: SKY MARSHALL OF THE UNIVERSE. He was also in ROCKETSHIP X-M, THE LOST PLANET, THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN and SPACE MASTER X-7. Here he is driving out of his hidden lair in the same futuristic wheels that Vena drove in Rocky Jones!

The Video Rangers are full of tricks when it comes to fighting crime, on Earth or otherwise!..

There's plenty of space travel, natcherly, and there's an Earth scientist, Dr. Tobor!, willing to help aliens conquer our world.

Gene Roth looks hilarious as dictator Vultura from the planet Atoma! He directs a bunch of meteors at the meddling Captain Video and his Ranger pal.

Meteors destroy their ship so they seek refuge in the tail section, and, end up safely on the surface of Atoma (Chatsworth)!

Hey Boss, lookit!.. Freakin' BINGO!!

Get this, animators from Columbia studios cartooned all spaceships whenever they were in space! They were always quickly whizzing by to make it hard to notice a lot of detail.

Hey, Vultura! Suck in that gut, will ya?!..

Weird gadgets, robots from RADIO RANCH and a frozen stiff Cap'n Video, this thing has it all!!

I'll give myself a little credit for this joke I came up with for their 'space platform,' so, here goes... When you poop in space, no one can smell it!

LA BESTIA UCCIDE A SANGUE FREDDO - Silvano Spadaccino - "Slaughter Hotel" (1971)

Tonight's film is going to be what I think is the last in my " Let's Beat Bad Giallo Films To A Bloody Pulp" series!! Because of this film, I have sliced all the Giallo movies out of my Netflix Queue except a couple of classier Argento titles because I've just had enough! "La Bestia Uccide A Sangue Freddo" has been released with at least 4 different titles in English from "Asylum Erotica" to "The Beast Kills In Cold Blood," so what's that tell you? Cult smult, this is just a piece of shit!

Here it is, the "Slaughter Hotel," a mental hospital for sick rich bitches, and of course there's a serial killer lurking in the shadows and not getting noticed by anybody as he goes about his dirty business!

This is not only a bad horror movie, it's also a bad porn flick, and the music by Silvano Spadaccino doesn't improve the situation at all! By the way, today's date is 12-12-12, just shy of 13 in case you failed to notice!

Rosalba Neri there in the middle of the shot screws everyone and everything she can get her hands on, and speaking of hands on, if you think good film making is real big straight on closeups of vaginas being manipulated to bad music in between killings, then this is the movie for you because it happens at least twice!

Klaus Kinski adds nothing to the non-plot! Remember, anything plus nothing is still nothing! Zero, zilch, nada, nichts!!!

The nurse on the right has another job, as the second big vagina closeup flasher!

When they finally trap the killer, and there's only like three minutes left in the movie, he manages to escape somehow and bludgeon another handful of chicks before the movie ends!! Like it wasn't bad enough already!!

If they would have just shot the sumbitch at the beginning of the film, it would have saved us all a lot of time!! My professed purpose here is to make you want to see movies, no matter how bad they are, but I just can't do that with flicks like this, and so I won't!

THE UNKNOWN TERROR / Emirau Productions - 1957

Itz Monster Monday with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. We gots a redo from 2008 with a far out story that takes place in the Cave Of Death in Mexico. It stars John (THE UNDYING MONSTER) Howard, Mala (THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORK) Powers and Paul (MEN INTO SPACE) Richards.

Other Regalscope movies include SHE DEVIL, KRONOS, BACK FROM THE DEAD, ROCKABILLY BABY and SPACE MASTER X-7.

Three explorers hear an old Indian legend about the Cave of the Dead, a place where human sacrifices were made to the Gods in the past. They find Dr. Ramsey, played by Gerald (THE NAKED KISS) Milton, who's married to a native girl, Concha, played by May (THE VIOLENT MEN) Wynn, and when asked, he claims to have no knowledge of the cave in question. But, he's there because the climate in the cave is ideal for rapid fungus growth and his work on cultivating fungus for antibiotics. He wants to keep it secret...

Eegah!! sent over a musical soundclip of Sir Lancelot doing his version of a song by Raoul Kraushaar and Dave Kahn, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there next to the nuclear pile, NOW, Ralphie The Tarantula! Here's Sir Lancelot performing in... THE UNKNOWN TERROR!

The cave is discovered and good old fire is again used to fight off the fungus!

The definitive publicity shot from this film. It looks interesting!..

Another publicity still that shows how an artist had to come in with some black lines to get a little contrast... Looks weird!

Two lobby cards showing the 'monster.' Pink borders?.. I don't get it!

This flick actually made our '25 WORST MOVIES' list in our original DWRAYGER DUNGEON magazine rag in 1964, it was #24 - Quote... THE UNKNOWN TERROR was about a bunch of oatmeal that went around getting on people. It was really a gob of fungus. A professor made it and thought it was a fun trick. The hero didn't, so he destroyed it. The professor cried, wouldn't you?

Here's a shot of Sir Lancelot from CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE in his role as Edward. He had a total of 15 acting credits, his last role was on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW in 1967, and he lived to be an amazing 98 years old!..

We'll end it with these nice lobby cards from four classic movies that featured the Sir!..
