GONKS GO BEAT - The Graham Bond Organization - "Harmonica & Big Band" (1965)

It's hard to just let a Saturday night slip away, so real quick, we've already written "Gonks Go Beat" off, but you gotta admit that this one song by The Graham Bond Organization with the freakin' amazing Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax, pre-Mahavishnu Orchestra Jazz fusion guitar giant John McLaughlin in there somewhere, and a pre-Cream Jack Bruce on Bass and Harmonica, and Ginger Baker on drums called "Harmonica and Big Band" is a pretty dang cool example of 60's UK blues and actually justifies this picture's existence!!

Ginger's not really digging the professor telling him that he's off beat!!!

THAT'S IT, I QUIT!!!

Well, Did that really scare anyone?? Basically, I'm too big of an egomaniac to let all this attention go to waste, so next Monday, I'm planning on getting the ball rolling again. I've had some time to think this whole thing out and get a few more titles and some other stuff around the house done, and believe it or not, there's just too many good movies left to stop right now, so Thanx again to Lacey, Buzz, Zillagord, Chadd, Prof. Grewbeard, Flinty, Mild Colonial Boy Esq, Mr. Balihai, and anonymous for all the props and encouragement, you folks and all the other readers are what keep us going!! In the meantime, you can chew on this little jewel from outside our chosen parameters, the theme from the 1971 Argentine feature, "La Venganza Del Sexo," or "The Curious Dr. Humpp" with some swingin' sounds from Víctor Buchino!!!

See you at the bar!! Please, show me to the bar!!

THE NIGHT THE MUSIC DIED - "I Just Want To Screem!!!" (2008)

Okay, here's the deal!!! I'm just a little pissed off because last night I got an email that said Box.net was pulling the music we posted for "Fear Of The Mummy" because some person had complained about copyright infringement, and it kind of took the wind out of my sails. This blog is a lot of work without much gratification, but we do it out of love for the old movies and the music, and in an effort to bring a whole new life to a lot of stuff that has, and will be left behind in the next few years unless someone pays some attention to it. Our goal has always been to enlighten and to educate the world about these movies and all the forgotten people responsible. We don't advertise, and we don't make any money, because that's not why we do it!! It's actually quite a long and arduous process that includes tracking down the titles, watching and listening closely to the sound and music, doing extractions and capturing stills to enhance the whole presentation, and then trying to put it back into an abbreviated form that will make you more interested in seeing the whole movie! It's basically the same concept as a trailer, something made to try and grab your attention!!! It's very time consuming and costs us quite a bit of money. What do we get in return? An occasional comment! And then some person can just complain to box.net that they own the rights to something that is 50 years old, and virtually almost non-existent, and they can push a button and delete hours of work in 2 seconds!! So, whoever you are that owns the rights to "Fear Of The Mummy," if you're so damn protective of your possession, then do something with it! There are people out there that would pay good money to get a decent copy!!! So, Screw this! We're outta here until I feel good about it again!! In the meantime, go and check out the latest issue of Screem magazine, #17 for a whole tussle of info you'll dig!!
