WORLD GONE WILD - "The Future Looks Dim" (1987)

Welcome to Wild World Wednesday down in The Dungeon!

"World Gone Wild" is a 1987 post-apocalyptic tale of greed and survival. It's a story about two men and their followers! Water is a rare commodity in the future, and everybody wants it!

One guy is Ethan, the stoner leader of the people who have the water in a secluded place in the desert called Lost Wells! 100 years in the future, and he still wears a Zig-Zag man button!

The other guy is Adam Ant as Derek, the leader of a bunch of goons dressed all in white who want the water too!

Derek and Ethan don't like each other for obvious reasons!

This is what Derek has for Ethan!

And this is what Ethan has for Derek!!

The story is loosely based on the classic "Seven Samurai," or "The Magnificent Seven," but it is really hard to imagine Bruce Dern as Yul Brynner, or Adam Ant as Eli Wallach! Also, why is there nudity and foul language in a film that is seemingly otherwise geared for a twelve year old! What the heck? It's a "World Gone Wild," and just like "Girls Gone Wild," it was made to make money, not sense. and I'm pretty sure they lost out in both those departments! If you want to watch a good Bruce Dern movie, then go watch one of his old biker movies or "Nebraska" instead, or just sit around and wait for one of the seven projects he's involved with in 2018! (I might just do that myself!)

FUTUREWORLD - "Is This You...Or Are You You?" (1976)

It's time for another Saturday Night Special in the party room of The Dungeon!
Even though this movie is from the past, welcome to The Future!

About a month or so ago, we went to "Westworld,"
and tonight's feature called "Futureworld" was a sequel to that movie!

Dungeon Super-Duper Hero Peter Fonda is investigative reporter Chuck Browning!

Cute as a bug Blythe (To Wong Fu Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar) Danner is TV news commentator Tracy Ballard! Blythe is still working today, and has a movie in post-production called "What They Had!"

"Futureworld" is pretty damn elaborate for what is basically a carnival ride!

This is Command Central. Nothing can go wrong, because there is no human interference! All the workers are androids, including the computer programmers!

I just like this shot of the 'Supply Room'..........

...........And this control panel!!
There's a lot of eye candy in this movie!

Whereas "Westworld" was a world gone wrong, "Futureworld" is a world full of programmed evil!

The weirdos in the red scrubs come in the middle of the night and take the sedated Chuck and Tracy off into the depths of their laboratories!

The evil "Futureworld" company wants to make clones of Chuck and Tracy, then kill off the originals, because the clones are programmed not to say anything bad about the parent company, kind of like the payola of the 50's and 60's!

Tracy and Chuck, in no uncertain terms, want to agree to this deal!

That's the point where the big elongated almost mandatory chase scene begins!

They take Tracy, and put her in this big dream machine that produced these two pretty cool shots, that I don't know about you, but I'm going to use for wallpaper!

The dream sequence even incorporates Yul Brynner reprising his "Westworld" role as her rescuer and lover! Of course, Chuck is also able to view this dream on a monitor in order to make him feel like a very large piece of shit!

You see that Exit sign over there? That's exactly where this is headed!

In the end, Chuck lets the corporation know exactly how he feels about their way of doing business!

This French poster kills me! The two small Chuck and Tracy figures, and the faceless robot are the only thing that were in the movie! Incredulous!

Still, not even close, this Turkish poster is a little closer to the reality of this fictional tale!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Glen Armstrong said it best.....

8 REASONS WHY "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" (1960) IS THE BEST WESTERN MOVIE OF ALL TIME!

Here's eight reasons why "The Magnificent Seven" is my favourite western movie of all time, just like "Forbidden Planet" will always be my favourite Sci-Fi flick no matter how many "Star Wars" and "Star Treks" there are! Everybody has an opinion, and you might think that "Brokeback Mountain" is the best cowboy movie ever, but for me, it's "The Magnificent Seven!!!!!!!"

The first reason is because it's based on the classic tale as written and directed by Akira Kurosawa"Shichinin No Samurai," also known as.....
"The Seven Samurai!"

"These are the guys, the Seven Samurai," aka.....
"The Magnificent Seven," and even though they have flaws, this is truly a  magnificent group of guys on more than one level! This is Hollywood at it's finest!
And, so, no more screwing around, here they are.....
 the other seven reasons!

Yul (The King And I, The Ten Commandments, Westworld) Brynner as
Chris Larabee Adams!

Steve (The Blob, Wanted: Dead Or Alive, The Great Escape) McQueen as
Vin Tanner!!

Charles (House Of Wax, Man With A Camera, Death Wish) Bronson) as
Bernardo O'Reilly!!!

Robert (Teenage Cave Man, Man From U.N.C.L.E., Starship Invasions) Vaughn as
Lee!!!!

James (The Twilight Zone, Our Man Flint, Dead Heat On A Merry-Go-Round) as
Britt!!!!!
I just did a search, and I can't really believe it, but Netflix doesn't have even one film to offer that has James Coburn in it! That is truly appalling!!

Brad (Asphalt Jungle, Between Heaven And Hell, 13 Fighting Men) Dexter as
HARRY LUCK!

Last but by far not least, is the cool German actor Horst (La Noia, The Catamount Killing, Fuga Dal Paradiso) Buchholz as
Chico!!!!!!!

A new version of "The Magnificent Seven" came out three days ago, and I just found out about it three minutes ago since I don't keep up with current affairs, but I just watched the trailer a few minutes ago on the IMDB, and I'm sure a whole lot of people are going to go apeshit for it, but all I can say is Good Luck! A group of talent like this only happens once in a lifetime!
