TABONGA'S ART INFLUENCED By HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES

It's time to check out some Tabonga! Art, all influenced by Horror and Sci-Fi Movies! Most are recent pieces, all show how growing up in the Fifties warped my mind and even caused me to assume a monster's name!!.. Enjoy.

First up is THE GIANT CLAW, the atomic space vulture that came to Earth to lay its eggs and take things over with anti-matter trickery!

This alien plant thing was influenced by the creatures in THE ANGRY RED PLANET. You'll notice this one has a bug parasite coming out of its brain!

Here's another plant monster based on DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS. This one is a Fungus Triffid with deadly spores to decimate the puny human race!!

Then, there's this crawling hand from INVASION OF THE SAUCER-MEN, I've made and sold about 8 of these classic Paul Blaisdell creations so far and plan on doing more, they sell like hotcakes!

After doing the Saucer-Men crawling hands, I decided to do my own version. This is another creeping hand but has two eyes, it's actually just as shocking as the Saucer-Men version!

I've sold a pile of these guys, based on the Venusian monster in IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, another classic design by Paul Blaisdell.

Here's a freaky giant atomic-spawned killer clam, based on the ideas in ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS, one of my very favorite pieces!

I've done a few of these Meteor Monsters. inspired by the meteor-dust-coated FIRST MAN INTO SPACE. I also used this weird thing in a painting...

Here's an alien rock monster, love rock monsters! The movie I think of when rock monster is mentioned is MISSILE TO THE MOON, they are so kitschy-cool.

This is a Jungle Voodoo Bird, kinda based on the bird thing in CURUCU, BEAST OF THE AMAZON. I just bought a heap of feathers, so, looks like I'll be making monster birds for a while! In fact, I just scored a commission to make a full bodied GIANT CLAW!

I've done quite a few of these nudie jungle gals that are take-offs on VOODOO WOMAN.

This strange little thing was inspired by THE BLOB, done a bunch of these too. I love this piece, I sold it as an LSD HALLUCINATION!

Another BLOB monster, this one's a Tar-Blob that can be found on a distant alien planet!

Here's a very cool monster based on the creatures in THE GREEN SLIME, something you wouldn't want to meet up with in a dark alley! Or actually, anywhere!!

This freaky thing reminds me of the giant monster at the end of THE FLESH EATERS!

ISLAND OF TERROR inspired this piece, it's a slimy flesh-eating atomic mutation horror!

This guy is based on the wild rubber creatures featured in THE OUTER LIMITS series, I've made about 10 of them, they're always fun to build.

I've done a ton of robots too, mainly based on the DALEK bots, I think it looks cool to put eyeballs and teeth on them, makes 'em extra weird!

This totally freaked out crawling monstrosity was inspired by the British movie, ASYLUM. Remember the freezer scene with the attacking body parts?

I'm cheating on this one a bit... I got the idea from comic god, Basil Wolverton, in his story, THE BRAIN-BATS OF VENUS!

So, hope you enjoyed the show, I definitely enjoyed making these monsters. Join us again on Wednesday when Eegah!! will have another fun post to share with us!

By the way, if you're interested, you can find my artwork for sale on eBay, my seller name is 'bongo52' if you want to check them out!

10 MOVIES TABONGA! LOVES TO WATCH AGAIN! Part 2

Welp, here are 10 more movies Tabonga! loves to watch again!.. When I get my fill of regular cable shows, I turn my little DVD player on and throw on a disc from my library of over 500 older titles to soothe my monstrous soul.

On my last post, Randall Landers lamented that I didn't include THE FLESH EATERS, so, here it is! This movie is so unique and a real horror when you throw in the deleted Nazi swimming pool flesh eating experiment scenes, wild stuff! My favorite parts include poor old Omar and the monster after it grows to an enormous size, awesome flick!!

OMG!!.. MASTER MINDS is my favorite Bowery Boys title, it's even better than THE BOWERY BOYS MEET THE MONSTERS! It also stars Dungeon Hero, Glenn Strange, as Atlas the Monster. I swear, when Sach and Atlas get their minds switched, the fun really begins. Glenn is freakin' hilarious when he mimes the voice and mannerisms of Sach!! Everyone needs to see this flick, no kidding, comes with my highest seal of approval...

KRONOS kicked my ass when I saw it in 1957 at only 9 years old, and, I still love to watch this great sci-fi flick again (and, again)!

I totally love THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE, man, what a wild 'n' weird movie with the cyclops saucer and cyclops monster. In fact, I love it so much that I watched it again last night!

Brit Richard Gordon produced both FIRST MAN INTO SPACE and THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE, making for a ton of thrills for us. We have a great blood thirsty monster covered with meteor dust and it also stars our Professor, there on the right.

THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH is another movie I love to watch again! Where to begin... Atomic monsters, great songs by the Del-Aires, tons of mutilations, hot chicks in their Ford convertible, Hank, Elaine, Eulabelle, sodium, terror, horror, drunk idiots and so much more!

I got to see THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS in 1957, liked it then, love it now! Although a little hokey at times (especially when the airliner 'splodes), the Brain in the still looks pretty damn creepy, you have to admit!

Wow, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER, love this out of control flick, it has so much going on. Bob Crewe supplies the great pop music for this thing, but, what I always notice the most is the horrible ear makeup on Dr. Nadir and his chant... Maximum Energy!!!

MESA OF LOST WOMEN is another movie that blows my mind, The fun never stops, you gots giant spiders, Jackie Coogan, Tarantella, Lyle Talbot, George Barrows, Katherine Victor, crazy music by Hoyt Curtin, midgets, spider women, a mad lab in the Muerte Desert, a wacky airplane and more! Still love to watch this one again!

ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN has so much schlock going on, you can't help but love it! My favorite character is Nancy's butler, Jess, he's one tough old dude! So, there you are, another pile of movies Tabonga! loves to watch again. It looks like I'll have two more of these posts since I have so many movies I love! Tune in Wednesday as we continue adding more cargo to our old Dungeon Cyclopedia...

THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE / Vortex - 1974

Here's a wild one I've waited til now to post, one of my very favorite seventies flicks! Tobe Hooper at his best!! The story's based on events of Texan Cannibal, Ed Gein, and goes like this... On the way to visit their grandfather's grave (which has been desecrated), five teenagers drive past a slaughterhouse and pick up a sinister looking hitch-hiker before ending up at the old family home where they're plunged into a never-ending nightmare! They meet a family of flesh eaters who use power tools to make up for what they lack in social skills...

What's extra cool is that there were no big named actors in the movie. It gives it a more realistic feel as the terror mounts, love this damn thing!

On the way to the cemetery, the teens pick up a grimy, freaky looking hitch-hiker. After the guy pulls out his knife and starts carving on his arm, they kick him out of the van...

But, they make a stop near an old house and go to the door, a very bad choice indeed!

Inside the place, the teens are shocked at what they see, like, this couch decorated with bones, possibly human!!

Then, the terror begins!!!..

Marilyn Burns plays Sally, she gets the special treatment at the dinner table. She's strapped to a human chair and gets to experience the insanity of the family first hand!

Here's a creepy portrait of gramps, truly a ghoul and a half!!

Back at the dinner table, gramps gets to suck on Sally's fingers!! I'm pretty sure this is referred to as good old southern, red state hospitality! Yee-haw, ya'll...

JFC dude!!.. All the teens are being horribly slaughtered and there isn't much they can do about it, the family is just too insane to deal with!

Leather Face is another iconic seventies maniac along with Michael Myers from HALLOWEEN. This guy is a truly terrifying figure!

But, throw in a chain saw and watch the Hell out, you'd better run like a freakin' jack wabbit! So, there you have it, we're back Wednesday with more mayhem, here, at The Dungeon!!
