The FIFTIES HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES Of JOHN CARRADINE

Today we're going to check out the Horror and Sci-Fi Movies of John Carradine from the Fifties. Of course, his work in the Forties would put this list to shame, but, I love the stuff from the Fifties the most because they're in my wheel house! Man, that's a great shot of John!

John's first horror movie in the Fifties was THE BLACK SLEEP in 1956 (he did a ton of westerns during his career). He stars with Lon Chaney, Basil Rathbone, Akim Tamiroff, Bela Lugosi and Tor Johnson! I remember that Eegah!! always said this flick freaked him out when he saw it...

In 1957, John stars in THE UNEARTHLY as Dr. Conway, a real nut job, just look at him. Myron Healey, Allison Hayes, Sally Todd and Tor Johnson also star with John, which reminds me, a post that I want to do is all the scream queens I had a crush on, of which Sally Todd is one! Love her in FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER too...

John lands the role of the Egyptian Pharaoh, King Khufu, in THE STORY OF MANKIND, also from 1957. Wow, wish I had a pet tiger, but, I'm sure it'd freak out my kitties!!

In 1958, John has the role of Dr. Rayburn and Narrator in the Japanese abominable snowman movie, HALF HUMAN. Morris Ankrum also appears as Dr. Jordan.

If ever a poster could be sued for false advertising, THE COSMIC MAN from 1958 is that poster. Look at the green alien in the poster, then, look at John! Seriously, what the Hell?!!

He has a small part in INVISIBLE INVADERS as Dr. Karol Noymann in 1959. He gets killed in a lab explosion about two minutes into the film and becomes an Invader!

Also in 1959, John signs up for Jerry Warren's INVASION OF THE ANIMAL PEOPLE with another beautiful girl in it, Barbara (THE FLESH EATERS) Wilson. John plays the Narrator here.

We'll end with THE INCREDIBLE PETRIFIED WORLD in 1959, another Jerry Warren production. This time John plays Professor Wyman, head of the diving bell expedition. Robert Clarke, Phyllis Coates and Sheila Noonan round out the cast in this unbelievable underwater adventure! Well, there you have it, John in all his Fifties glory, tune again Wednesday when Eegah!! calls the shots!!

10 MOVIES TABONGA! LOVES TO WATCH AGAIN! Part 2

Welp, here are 10 more movies Tabonga! loves to watch again!.. When I get my fill of regular cable shows, I turn my little DVD player on and throw on a disc from my library of over 500 older titles to soothe my monstrous soul.

On my last post, Randall Landers lamented that I didn't include THE FLESH EATERS, so, here it is! This movie is so unique and a real horror when you throw in the deleted Nazi swimming pool flesh eating experiment scenes, wild stuff! My favorite parts include poor old Omar and the monster after it grows to an enormous size, awesome flick!!

OMG!!.. MASTER MINDS is my favorite Bowery Boys title, it's even better than THE BOWERY BOYS MEET THE MONSTERS! It also stars Dungeon Hero, Glenn Strange, as Atlas the Monster. I swear, when Sach and Atlas get their minds switched, the fun really begins. Glenn is freakin' hilarious when he mimes the voice and mannerisms of Sach!! Everyone needs to see this flick, no kidding, comes with my highest seal of approval...

KRONOS kicked my ass when I saw it in 1957 at only 9 years old, and, I still love to watch this great sci-fi flick again (and, again)!

I totally love THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE, man, what a wild 'n' weird movie with the cyclops saucer and cyclops monster. In fact, I love it so much that I watched it again last night!

Brit Richard Gordon produced both FIRST MAN INTO SPACE and THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE, making for a ton of thrills for us. We have a great blood thirsty monster covered with meteor dust and it also stars our Professor, there on the right.

THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH is another movie I love to watch again! Where to begin... Atomic monsters, great songs by the Del-Aires, tons of mutilations, hot chicks in their Ford convertible, Hank, Elaine, Eulabelle, sodium, terror, horror, drunk idiots and so much more!

I got to see THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS in 1957, liked it then, love it now! Although a little hokey at times (especially when the airliner 'splodes), the Brain in the still looks pretty damn creepy, you have to admit!

Wow, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER, love this out of control flick, it has so much going on. Bob Crewe supplies the great pop music for this thing, but, what I always notice the most is the horrible ear makeup on Dr. Nadir and his chant... Maximum Energy!!!

MESA OF LOST WOMEN is another movie that blows my mind, The fun never stops, you gots giant spiders, Jackie Coogan, Tarantella, Lyle Talbot, George Barrows, Katherine Victor, crazy music by Hoyt Curtin, midgets, spider women, a mad lab in the Muerte Desert, a wacky airplane and more! Still love to watch this one again!

ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN has so much schlock going on, you can't help but love it! My favorite character is Nancy's butler, Jess, he's one tough old dude! So, there you are, another pile of movies Tabonga! loves to watch again. It looks like I'll have two more of these posts since I have so many movies I love! Tune in Wednesday as we continue adding more cargo to our old Dungeon Cyclopedia...

INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS / Solofilm - 1978

Here's the first remake of the classic movie from 1956. In San Francisco, a group of people discover their friends are being replaced one by one, with clones devoid of human emotion...

The wild little flick stars Donald (DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS) Sutherland, Brooke (SHOCK WAVES) Adams, Jeff (THE FLY) Goldblum, Veronica (ALIEN) Cartwright and Leonard (THE BRAIN EATERS) Nimoy.

Here are our pals, Elizabeth, Matthew and Jack, as they try and figure out why some of their friends are acting a little strange.

I threw in this shot because it's just funny!

Then, Jack has a weird experience when a deformed body in his likeness is found near him. And, he needs to take a little nap...

Here's a big pod giving birth to an unformed human body, just waiting to get its host to sleep!

Leonard Nimoy shows up as Dr. Kibner, he seems to be the head honcho when it comes to putting people to sleep. Here, he's ready to shoot up Matthew and Elizabeth with something to make them groggy.

They throw in this guard dog with a human face for some stupid reason... What the Hell!!

Matthew watches as pods are being delivered overseas, things are getting out of control.

Then, the worst happens, Elizabeth falls asleep and sheds her old skin for some new pod flesh. And, she runs around naked as she chases Matthew back to town.

Matthew discovers the pod nursery and decides to sabotage the works. He takes an ax and cuts all the ropes holding up the lights which starts the whole place on fire!

And, the pods go up in flames and bleed out their unearthly ooze!

Now, is this a cool shot of Matthew running away from the building or what?!

Anyway, Matthew exposes himself when his still human friend Nancy approaches him. He gives out that unearthly screech to bring attention to her, game over, man! We're back Wednesday with even more, from, The Dungeon!!
