THE GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E. - "Mother Muffin's Affair" (1966)

Tonight's Wild Wednesday presentation is Episode 03 of the TV show "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." from 1966.

Obviously, "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." was a spinoff of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and almost as obvious is that it wasn't nearly as good, but, that being said, this episode is pretty damn entertaining.

The story is set is jolly olde England, as is reflected in the title "The Mother Muffin Affair."

Stefanie (Experiment In Terror) Powers was April Dancer aka "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." in all 29 episodes. Stefanie is still working today!

Leo G. Carroll reprises his role as Mr. Waverly in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

And Robert Vaughn makes a special guest appearance as Napoleon Solo

But the real reason you want to watch this show is to see Boris Karloff as Mother Muffin!

Bernard Fox has the role of Mother Muffin's bumbling henchman Rodney Babcock. Bernard Fox has been in many, many TV shows, from "The Monkees" to "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," "Bewitched," and "Night Gallery."

A light bulb correctly inserted is a good way to keep an assailant quiet for a while!

Mother Muffin and Rodney are an odd coupe to be sure!

Probably the strangest thing about this whole performance is that Boris as Mother Muffin is not a man dressed up like a woman.

Mother Muffin IS a woman!

Mother Muffin is quite attracted to Napoleon Solo, and feels really bad that she has to kill him!

If April Dancer is not careful about what she says, Mother Muffin might wash her mouth out like she did with this other woman, and not with soap and water, but with sulfuric acid instead.

Well, this is a fine predicament!

The whole story was based on having to keep this young lady from the clutches of Mother Muffin, and get her into the arms of her powerful Father, and after many trials and tribulations, it finally happens.
Once again, I'd like to say Danke to Lord Litter in Berlin for this recommendation!

If you ever run low on Karloff, this resurfaced recently: "He Who Steals My Robot Steals Trash" (1968) with Red Skelton, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, and introducing Spanky Wilson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKE0fHeAIBQ
