LOGAN'S RUN / Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer - 1976

Here's one me and the ex saw way back in 1976 when it came out... For a fifties rubber monster freak, this thing was way too glitzy for my taste, a symphony in C-.

The complicated story goes... It's the year 2274 AD, there's little or no work for humans to perform, and, inhabitants are free to pursue all of the pleasures of life. However, your life is limited and when you reach the age 30, your life is terminated in a quasi-religious ceremony known as Carousel (sounds fun!). Some people, known as runners, try to escape their fate and it's the job of a Sandmen to track them down and kill them!

Here's a little more info to help you get up to speed in case you haven't seen this thing, saving my brain from trying to 'esplain it for you!

This is the domed futuristic city in all its glory, the citizens are all spoiled brats with nothing else to do but screw off for thirty years.

The Carousel ceremony starts with these over the hill weirdos ready to fly and die! "How!.. We in market for mucho wampum, you gots?..." Come on, man... WTF! This production is considered a great bad movie!

Fly!.. FLY, my little goofballs!.. Fly as though your worthless little lives depended on it!!

Wow, they even got M. C. Escher to designed this mall scene!

Logan meets Jessica and they hit it off after a few awkward moments. Love the bottom scene, what a Futuristic Kitsch Rococo look!

Then, Logan and Jessica go to the Laser Palace to get a little surgery. They're greeted by Farrah Fawcett as Holly, miss that girl. And, things don't go very well for Logan...

Logan and Jessica have left the city, they are looking for the place known as 'Sanctuary.' On the way, they meet up with this silly looking ice robot that wants to...

Freeze their asses and put them with these other fine examples of frozen humans!!

Further along the way, they come across the Lincoln Memorial after many years of neglect.

Finally, they meet the man with all the knowledge, Peter Ustinov as the Old Man! He has the answers to all their questions!

Marvel tried to capitalize on the whole thing, but, they gave Logan a super hero style outfit... Tune in Wednesday when we're back, here, at The Dungeon!!

AUF ACHSE - "Toller Tausch" (1987)

"Auf Achse" was a very popular German TV series that ran from 1980 to 1996, and I never heard about it until a couple or weeks ago!
And that's why this Dungeon Saturday Night Special is even a little bit more special than usual!

So once again, it was our super cool German correspondent Lord Litter who turned me on to this show! And what's so cool about a show about German Truckers? Well, that's what I'm about to let you know!

Google Translate says "Toller Tausch" means "Great Exchange," I thought it meant "Trailer Trash" and that might or might not describe what's going on here! The show streams for free on YouTube, but unfortunately there are no sub-titles! I have a basic understanding of the German language, but I would have been lost if Lord Litter had not provided me with the basics of the story line that I could pass on to you! One of the crazier things in this show is, the people all speak their own language (The Germans speak German, and the Mexicans speak Spanish), so unless you're quadrilingual,
you're probably going to miss out on something anyway

German trucker in Mexico....(all in all the story is told in 3-4 episodes!)

The general idea is that this guy, Tilo (The NeverEnding Story, Iron Sky) Prückner as Edgar Bermbach, aka, the man in the white suit and hat, screws absolutely everyone all the time  .. so he steals 240 TV sets........

......... and then this big guy, Manfred (Whopper Punch 777) Krug as Franz Meersdonk, has to deliver the TVs to save the husband of the woman we see in the beginning of the episode, because the husband needs money to get out of jail!
Wow! Manfred just passed away a couple of weeks ago at the age of 79 on October 21, 2016! I'm looking forward to partying with this guy in the afterlife!

I like this shot of Franz with that Mexican man just chillin' in the background behind him to set the scene!

What a mothertrucking super hero Franz is, it literally took him two cases of beer to get to this stage!!
I'm trying to keep up, but I'm not going to make it!

 TRUCKS!

 MORE TRUCKS!!

 and...TRUCK CRASHES!!!

Now Franz and Edgar Bermbach have to figure out how to work together!

Edgar Bermbach steals a passport and papers to get all the TV sets to sell to Mexican guys who want to watch soccer.......

Franz almost gets to him, but Edgar is too tricky this time!

Don't know about you, but I don't think I could sleep in this room!

Franz Meersdonk and his accomplice Rodrigues hire an actor (old friend of Rodrigues) who tells the man in the white suit that he needs 240 TV sets for a new hotel!

In the end it turns our that its all a fake and the guy in the white suit now has 240 TV sets and doesn't know what to do with 'em........
.......And the husband of the woman has all the money he needs to get out of prison!

So, if you can't hardly believe it, and you want to see it with your own eyes, here's the link to the YouTube page where you can see for yourself, because, you know what they say, "Olde truckers never die, they just get a new Peterbilt!"

FAITH DOMERGUE - Her Horror & Sci-Fi Movies From 1955-74

Here's a nice Friday post, I've always had a huge crush on Faith Domergue! Here are some things you probably never knew about her... Enjoy!

Faith Domergue was born in New Orleans, she was part Creole but primarily of Irish and English decent and was adopted when she was six weeks old! In 1927 her adoptive parents took her to live in Santa Monica, California, where she had her first experience with acting. Just after graduation from school, she suffered a disfiguring injury during a car accident when she was thrown into the windshield and spent 18 months undergoing intensive plastic surgery!! Still in her teens, she was briefly married to a night club owner and bandleader.

In 1941 she was discovered by a Warner Brothers talent scout and was signed to a contract. Then, she found herself at a studio party on a yacht owned by billionaire Howard Hughes. Hughes became quickly infatuated with Faith and bought out her contract from Warner Brothers for $50,000, then signed her to the studio he owned, RKO Pictures. The romantic affair continued until mid-1943 and was ended by Hughes' various indiscretions with stars Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth!

Faith never quite made it as a major star, but, she did acquire something of a cult following because of her involvement in THIS ISLAND EARTH, as well as her other sci-fi films from that period.

Universal's CULT OF THE COBRA from 1955 was her first horror film, her sultry looks made her a perfect snake girl for this role.

Faith will be forever known for her role as Dr. Ruth Adams in Universal's super sci-fi extravaganza, THIS ISLAND EARTH, also in 1955.

Again in 1955, she went to Columbia Studios to star in Ray Harryhausen tentacled terror classic, IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA.

Then, she was at Merton Park Studios to star in THE ATOMIC MAN, another movie from 1955! Boy, she was a busy girl that year!!

Ten years later, in 1965, she was in the oddball sci-fi flick, VOYAGE TO THE PREHISTORIC PLANET, produced by none other the the king of B-movies, Roger Corman! I'm pretty sure this one was made for TV, since there's no actual poster to be found.

Filmed in Burbank in 1974, Faith is one of the PSYCHO SISTERS, here she is in the shower being threatened by a hatchet wielding psycho!

Again in 1974, she was in the over the hill gang of actors in THE HOUSE OF SEVEN CORPSES, for me, a real yawner. Not because of Faith, though! Filmed in Salt Lake City.

So then, here are some very nice photos of Faith... Sultry and Sexy!!

We're back tomorrow with more, from... The Dungeon!!
