GOLDFINGER - "007 Is Paid To Take Risks, YOU ARE NOT" (1964)

Time to climb out of the shadows and back into the mainstream with the second part of Eegah's!! "Gold Trilogy" that started last Wednesday with "Golden Claws Cat-Girl!"

Now of course tonight's film needs no introduction, and actually I hate even attempting doing something new and interesting with a film as classic as GOLDFINGER, so it's mostly just gonna be a bunch of pretty pictures, because let's face it, if you don't already know everything there is to know about Ian Fleming's "Goldfinger," you've obviously been living in a cave in Afghanistan for the last 40 years! But I'm sure there's still a few of you out there, so without any more bullshit, let's get it on with tonight's Super Saturday Night Special!

The tagline "007 Is Paid To Take Risks, YOU ARE NOT" was lifted from a 1964 British Safety Council poster!

This is Gert (The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse) Fröbe as Auric Goldfinger! Gert was one of the major players in many a German produced Edgar Wallace flick!

All those cards and he still has a pretty shitty poker hand!

The forever beautiful Shirely Eaton is the first victim of the touch of gold! Back in the 70's, I was hitchhiking back from L.A. and this gay guy gave me and my friend Chris Smith a ride. He was all hung over, and he told us he was coming home from a masquerade party. The bird finger on his right hand was still spray painted gold, and he told us he went to the party as "Goldfinger!" That's a true story!

This shot has all the right elements, modern architecture, and an ominous shadow! Will James be okay? Well, Jeez, I hope so, the movie just got started!

No shit, is this possibly THE worst shot you've ever seen in your life?

The Lord only knows how I long for Drive-In signs like this! Now it's all golden arches and welcome to Walmart! Whatever happened to American ingenuity and the American dream? The future sucks!

Now I know a lot of you can't identify with the game of golf, but for us golfers, it's a real treat to see 007 on the links!

Oh, gee Mr. Goldfinger. I think that shot is out of bounds! Lovin' it!!

So the golf scenes are my favourite part of the movie! Everybody's got their problems! What a shitty caddy!

One of them shots I just like!

This shot explains in no uncertain terms why the TSA checks every Goddamn Grandma that gets on a plane! Honestly, who can you trust? Ian Fleming was obviously clairvoyant!!!

This is Goldfinger's main man Oddjob, a lot of people don't know this, but he has a sister named Handjob! Oddjob was an ominous figure at 5' 10" and 284 pounds! He was played by Harold Sakata, a former Olympic Weightlifting Silver Medalist, who was also active as professional wrassler Tosh Togo!!

Here are four words you wouldn't normally expect to see in one sentence!! Even if you drop out two of them you still have "Pussy Circus," and that just ain't right!!

From the most basic security........

.....to the most flamboyant security, "Goldfinger" has it all!

James flies back home safe and sound! Well, not quite, otherwise it wouldn't be a James Bond movie!

Tune in on Wednesday for the third and final installment of this golden series, "Goldface, The Fantastic Superman!"

THE OUTER LIMITS / Specimen: Unknown - 1964

It's Friday Sci-Fi Time with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon! We gots a little thriller from my fave, OUTER LIMITS, all about some deadly spore flinging flowers from space!.. Enjoy.

By the way, you can get all three seasons of this teriffic series on DVD for super cheap on Amazon!

Eegah!! just sent over a soundclip with some cool narration from this episode, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there next to the triffid corral, NOW, Rufus The Gnat! Here's our audio offering for... SPECIMEN: UNKNOWN!

The story starts on this space station, an above average model compared to some of the sorry looking space hardware they used in most episodes.

Dude becomes the first victim of the transformed 'space barnacle' that one of the crew found stuck to the outside of the space station. He gets a burial in space send off.

Not sure who the first guy is, but then that's Arthur (THE UNEARTHLY) Batanides, Richard (GREEN SLIME) Jaeckel and Russell (THE SPACE CHILDREN) Johnson in this scene.

Another superbly composed classic noir shot!

This shot almost looks like it came from PHANTOM PLANET.

A few barnacles make it onto the shuttle and transform as the crew's returning to Earth.

They incapacitate the crew members with toxins, causing the craft to crash!

When the military brass arrive, they notice that the ship is surrounded by an unknown species of weird flowers!

It's not long before things get totally out of hand!!

Like in DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, water dissolves the Hellish spore fiends!

LA LOUVE SOLITAIRE - Francis Lai - "The Golden Claws Cat-Girl" (1968)

Welcome to Weirdsville Wednesday deep deep down in The Dungeon! Tonight's feature is a fairly obscure little flick outta France that was originally titled "La Louve Solitaire" starring Danièle Gaubert as the Cat-Girl!

The English version was released as "The Golden Claws Of The Cat-Girl," or as you can see here, "The Golden Claws Cat-Girl!" Once again, big kudos to Brian Horrorwitz over at The Trash Palace for providing us with a copy! When you need a fix for weird flix, Brian's the man!

Well, basically "The Golden Claws Cat-Girl" is just a vehicle for the lovely and sexy Danièle Gaubert to strut her stuff, and strut it she does!

The original music in the film was created by Francis (Love Story) Lai in one of his earlier efforts! Francis has worked steadily since the 60's and is still active today! That's quite a chord!

The Cat-Girl is essentially just an acrobatic cat burglar with a penchant for gold and jewels! She also has a very cool car!

She's also got a cool floor in her pad.......

............and a cool hidden safe built into her refrigerator that would make Walter go from White to Green with envy!

The Cat-Girl gets caught and is forced into doing a job for the government with the aid of Michel (Man With The Transplanted Brain) Duchaussoy as Bruno, a talented lip reader! Michel worked steadily until he passed away just last year! As Bruno, it's his job to spy on the bad guys, and by reading their lips from a distance, he'll know when it's safe for the Cat-Girl to swing on a roof top rope and go over and get the goods! It should be a piece of cake, as long as it doesn't rain!

It rains!!!

The bad guys want their stuff back, and hold Cat-Girl hostage with a needle gun!

This shot is just wacky looking!

Bruno tries to save the Cat-Girl, but he gets held hostage too, and when he attempts a daring escape, he gets shot with the needle gun, and does one of the weirdest ballet death dances ever put on film with a leap and a pirouette before landing splat on his face!

Before there were CD's there were cassettes, and before cassettes, there were 8 tracks, and before 8 tracks, there were 4 tracks!

Revenge is sweet!!

Just to prove that life's not fair, cover girl Danièle Gaubert passed away in 1987 at the tender age of 44, another victim of cancer!
