"X" THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES / He Stripped Souls As Bare As Bodies! - 1963

It's time for a Dungeon Redo of this wild and weird Roger Corman flick that I saw with my cousins way back in 1963... The story's about Dr. James Xavier, a world renowned scientist experimenting with human eyesight. He devises a drug, that when applied to the eyes, enables the user to see beyond the normal realm of the light spectrum and also gives the user the power to see through objects! Xavier tests this drug on himself when his funding is cut off and continues its use as time progresses. He then begins to see, not only through walls and clothes, but eventually through the very fabric of reality!

This thing stars Ray (PREMATURE BURIAL) Milland, Diana (THE SWIMMER) Van der Vlis, Harold (THE INVISIBLE BOY) J. Stone, John (ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE) Hoyt, Don (MUSCLE BEACH PARTY) Rickles and features Morris (EARTH vs. THE FLYING SAUCERS) Ankrum, John (THE OMEGA MAN) Dierkes, Dick (WAR OF THE SATELLITES) Miller, Jonathan (NOT OF THIS EARTH) Haze, Barboura (A BUCKET OF BLOOD) Morris and more.

The Story starts with Dr. Xavier showing Dr. Diane Fairfax his experiments with increasing the possibilities of eye sight in animals and humans. He has had some success with his monkeys...

The doctor's funding gets cut off, so, he decides to test his sight enhancing drug on himself, you know, like, why not?!.. Right?

Diane thinks it would be a good idea for the doctor to take a break so they go to a party.

The serum kicks in and Dr. Xavier sees some pretty interesting sights! And, he even gets a peek at Diane in the nude, which makes him blush.

The doc keeps on using the serum and things are getting extra weird. When Dr. Stone tries to inject Xavier with something to counteract the serum, well, Xavier pushes him aside and his friend falls through the window of the five story medical building!

Xavier disappears after the accident and reappears as a psychic at a carnival. He now has a helper named Crane who takes questions from the audience. Dungeon heroes Dick Miller and Jonathan Haze are in the audience, and Dick is being a dick. It all backfires on him when Xavier tells the audience all about what a fuck up he is, funny stuff!

Crane finds out that Xavier is actually a medical doctor and wants to make more money by having him diagnose the sick, so they move into an old medical room. Things are going well until Diane shows up, and she takes the doc away from the setup against Crane's will.

She takes him to Las Vegas, he has a plan...

The Doc cleans up at the '21' table and the supervisors get suspicious when he wins ever time!

His glasses get knocked off and it reveals his mutated eyeballs! Now he's seeing psychedelic skeletons instead of people,... Help, Mr. Wizard!!

Dr. Xavier takes Diane's car and drives into the desert, chased by a heckilopter even! He crashes the car and starts walking, then, he hears some noise. It's a holy roller revival, he stumbles to the entrance.

The doc testifies, he tells the crowd of the things he has seen. They respond with, "If thine eye offend thee... Pluck it out, pluck it out!" So's, he plucks each eyeball out... Kind of a crappy effect, but, it gets the point across! Tune in again on Wednesday as we edge our way toward 'Halloween Countdown!'

THE OUTER LIMITS: The Bollero Shield / Season 1 Episode 20 - 1964

Today's classic story's about Richard Bellero, a dedicated scientist, he's working on experiments involving sending laser beams into outer space! But, his father believes he isn't capable of taking over the Bellero business empire. In the meantime, Richard's wife Judith has more than enough ambition for the two of them and Richard, through a freak accident, reels in a being from another dimension with his experiment. The being has a small device that can project a shield that no force can penetrate! Judith sees the alien and the shield-projecting device as a means to power and while Richard is away, she tricks the alien to deactivating his shield device, then, shoots the alien to prevent him from departing Earth, what a bitch! She removes the hand held device while failing to notice it was connected to a vein in the alien whose bodily fluid is the key to operating the device.

This episode stars Martin (ED WOOD) Landau as Richard Bellero, Sally (MASH) Kellerman as Judith Bellero, Chita (SAMMY AND COMPANY) Rivera as Mrs. Dame, Neil (BATMAN) Hamilton as Richard Bellero, Sr. and my favorite, John (ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE) Hoyt as the 'Bifrost' Alien!

Things are happening at the Bollaro estate, Richard and his father are working on an experiment that sends a laser beam into space to see its effects. But so far, pops thinks his son is on the wrong track for a successful outcome...

I like this machine, boy, what they could get away with in the sixties for scientific equipment that would actually work!

Here's Richard with wifey Judith. they are both disappointed at the results of the experiments so far. Judith is bent on success so that she can rub it in Richard's father's face, who she doesn't like very much!

Judith finds Richard's experimental laser ray gun and tests it on a bottle of wine, it disappears but within a few moments...

This creepy thing appears in the room with her... Like, help, Mr. Wizarrrd!!..

Judith tells Richard about the incident so he and Mrs. Dame go to the room with her to see the mysterious creature. The alien tells them all about what brought him there and shows them his device that can make a force field that cannot be penetrated!

While Richard is away, Judith shoots the alien and removes the shield device that was attached to the alien by a vein...

Judith shows the device to Richard's dad, she gloats as she explains what she has in her hand.

She activates the shield and has pops use the ray gun to see if it can penetrate it. The gun fails but when she tries to deactivate the shield, well, she remembers that she forgot to ask the alien how to do that!.. OOPS!!

Judith is trapped inside the shield, Richard and his dad try just about every way to get through and rescue her, axes, hammers, drills, torches, you get the picture! Anyway, Judith is starting to go bonkers thinking she'll never get out of the shield! I kept thinking... What if she needs to go potty!

They find the alien in the basement, he's barely alive, Richard gets him to help Judith get out of the shield. He's barely able to remove the shield before he keels over and dies...

With the shield gone, Judith has gone mad and thinks she's still trapped, a fitting end!! Check in again Wednesday when we continue down the dusty old Dungeon trail...

THE OUTER LIMITS - Season 01, Episode 17 - "Don't Open Till Doomsday" (1964)

If I've done the math right, this will be the 16th of 49 episodes of  "Outer Limits" we've covered! Welcome to the Saturday Night Special version of The Dungeon!
You should know the routine by now, don't freakin' adjust anything!

The basic premise is "Don't Open Till Doomsday" because presumably after you do, all Hell is going to break loose! So, here's your lesson of the day,
DON'T DO IT!!

One thing they don't explain is who is this guy, and why does he have this present to give away, or was I just not paying close enuf attention?

Is there some significance to the fact that all the wedding presents are wrapped in the same paper?
Let me know and win a free prize!

Huh, must be some kind of joke, let's just see what's in here!

Kind of a cute innocuous box, but full of evil deviltry!

"Don't Open Till Doomsday" has  more than it's share of  eye shots!

So what, are you just fucking stupid or what??

 What a cool door knob!!

Miriam Hopkins! 33 years earlier she was Ivy Pearson in the Fredric March version of "Dr Jekyll And Mr. Hyde!"  I think her character here might well have been an inspiration for Dr. Frank-N-Furter eleven years later!

Sorry, but the freakin' little alien dude in the box looks like a goober!

It's quite possible that this is true, and these days they are all in positions of power all over the whole world! We should have believed him!

Let's talk about thinking outside the box!!

John (Attack Of The Puppet People) Hoyt was an actor's actor! He was in two "Twilight Zone" episodes, "Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up," and "The Lateness Of The Hour," two other "Outer Limits" episodes, and so much more. John ended his career while in his late 70's with 82 episodes of "Gimme A Break" as Grandpa Stanley Kanisky!

Really awesome stairwell shot! Stairs in the home seem like such an ideal situation until you live in a two story house for a while! Trust me, despite "Father Knows Best," "Leave It To Beaver," and "My Three Sons," it is not the American dream!!

They all finally meet face to face!

Dude actually manges to go from there to there and catch her as she faints!

It's called "Don't Open Til Doomsday!" What the Hell did you expect!?
