FOG ISLAND / PRC - 1945

Welcome again to another Wednesday Oldie Moldie B+W Bijou Flicktime Theater, here at the Dungeon wif' Tabonga and lil' helper, Rufus!

FOG ISLAND was released about 6 months before the end of WWII, and when the atomic bomb was nearly completed! Stars George (VOODOO MAN) Zucco, Lionel (MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM) Atwill, Jerome (THE JUNGLE CAPTIVE) Cowan and Veda Ann (REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIES) Borg. Storyline is basically... A man invites a group of 'friends' for a holiday at his creepy fog-ridden island home (it has secret passages and hidden doorways) and he intends to exact some twisted revenge after being released from prison, framed for embezzlement by these once trusted associates.

Music is by Mr. Karl Hajos who had a total of 85 composing and 142 music department credits! Here are some other movies he composed for - THE HAUNTED HOUSE (1928), THE LOVE DOCTOR, THE DUMMY, THE STUDIO MURDER MYSTERY, WOMAN TRAP, GRUMPY, THE SEA GOD, SUPERNATURAL, EIGHT GIRLS IN A BOAT, WEREWOLF OF LONDON, CIRCUS GIRL, HITLER'S MADMAN, CHARLIE CHAN IN THE SECRET SERVICE and THE MISSING CORPSE!

Lil' Rufus the Gnat yell real loud at Tabonga to tell him that he ready to push big red 'GO' button and make today's Eariffic Earclip roll up the hill to start show... So, here we go! Notice how Rufus have Tabonga change name of soundclip because he think it so funny!.. FROG ISLAND!

What Tabonga can say? Ta da!.. Fog Island!!

George Zucco lives with his stepdaughter in this creepy old house on Fog Island.

There's plenty of stereotypical characters, the dude with a hat looking in the window and the suspicious looking butler!

Veda Ann and Lionel are somewhat leary about being invited to George's house for the weekend!

And, old Georgie boy's working away with some boobie traps and such for his friends for after they arrive!

Such cleverness, all topped off with Geronimo's stolen skull!

What the eff!..

April Fool!

At the reunion party, George gives out special surprises for everbloody!

Great mug shot as George threatens Lionel.

Skeletons in shadows always disturbed Tabonga when he was lil' twigster!

This trap is an underground drowning pool!

Nice parting shot!! Happy screams, everbloody!

VOODOO MAN / Monogram Pictures - 1944

It's Friday Forties Fright with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. What we gots is a very entertaining lil' 61 minute flick starring Bela Lugosi, John Carradine and George Zucco! Count 'em, three monsters of horror in one film! And, directed by the awesome William Beaudine, who has a staggering 366 directing credits, one for every day of the year!!

Eegah!! has given us a sample of sounds for our listening enjoyment, sooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there by the lil' atomic voodoo doll, NOW, Rufus The Gnat! Here's our soundclip for... VOODOO MAN!

It starts with a car pulling into a lonely country gas station. The owner, George Zucco playing Nicholas, comes out to greet the young woman who has stopped to ask for directions... "Stranger in this part of the country, aren't you?"

Young female motorists have been disappearing around this area. We find out that they are being misdirected with this detour barrier (like in 2000 MANIACS) that leads them to a spooky old mansion where a mysterious Dr. Marlowe and his 'dead' wife live.

There were plenty of cars like these around when Eegah!! and I were growing up. Not sure, but, I think those are a Dodge and a Plymouth.

Dr. Marlowe's played by Bela, he has two helpers who kidnap the women motorists on a deserted road while he watches the whole thing on his state of the art surveilance device. Then, he can flip a switch that turns their car's motor off, stranding them!

But, this pretty kidnapee is soon missed by her nosey cousin... John plays gimpy head goon, Toby, his pal is Pat McKee as Grego.

How do you do?..

Fine, and you?.. Anyway, she gets all hypnotized and the such by Dr. Marlowe's evil eye. The one on your right.

Marlowe has a whole basement full of lovely young girls who are entranced and standing behind glass doors in large cabinets... Man, like to have one of those in my place!

He's a devoted husband to his wife who's been 'dead' (she walks around!) for 22 years! He needs the young women's life forces to be transfered into his wife in order to bring her back to life.

John and George have some mad beatnik voodoo skills you can hear in the soundclip!!

A cool part is where this cut cord ties itself into a knot!

The Sheriff and his Deputy get involved when they find one mesmerized girl wandering around in her nightgown.

It's time for another fix for his wife!

In the end, Dr. Marlowe gets a bullet in the gut for all his effort!

This is a great little flick, go watch it!!

THE FLYING SERPENT / PRC - 1946

Welcome to Moldie Oldie Monday here at the Dungeon, with Tabonga and li'l Dungeon helper, Rufus the Gnat! Today's feature is another oldie they overplayed on TV in the fifties, at least where I lived!

This story goes like this... "The demented archaeologist Dr. Andrew Forbes (George Zucco) discovers a living, breathing serpent creature known to the Aztecs as Quetzalcoatl (the Killer Bird God) and accidentally kills his wife by giving her one of the beast's feathers, causing the creature to track her down and slaughter her. Now Dr. Forbes uses this twisted knowledge to extract revenge upon his enemies by placing one of the serpent's feathers on his intended victim and letting the beast loose to wreak havoc."

Uncredited music is by Leo Erdody, who also composed for movies like MURDER IN THE BIG HOUSE, HITLER--DEAD OR ALIVE, QUEEN OF BROADWAY, DEAD MEN WALK, GIRLS IN CHAINS, DANGER! WOMEN AT WORK, BLUEBEARD, WHITE PONGO, DETOUR, BLONDE FOR A DAY, GASHOUSE KIDS and THE RETURN OF RIN TIN TIN!

So, it's time for tiny li'l Rufus to buzz across the room and push that big red 'GO' button and start our Eariffic Earclip rolling! Here's!.. THE FLYING SERPENT!

This still sums it all up!

Wow, these scenes look like they're out of an AZTEC MUMMY flick!

Quintessential madman George Zucco plays another excellent role, this time as Prof. Andrew Forbes, keeper of a dark and sinister secret that's a billion years old!

Dr. Lambert plays the perfect stooge and falls prey to the winged serpent... I'm pretty sure that's a pheasant feather!

These two shots of Quetzalcoatl are great, it looks fairly frightening!

The 'lamestream media' bring in people who can actually solve the mystery! I think that's a young Richard Crane there, holding that gizmo with the antenna.

The reporters stake out an area where the monster had been spotted... Wait, what's that?!

George lies to Hope Kramer to get her to go with him, where he plans to do away with her because, you know... She knows too much!! Hope was only in one other movie, I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI in 1951!

Everbloody escapes from the underground horror...

Bang! Bang! Bang!!

I know what we're having for dinner tonight!!

THE END!.. Buy Gary US Bonds!!
