WOODY WOODPECKER / "Round Trip To Mars" - 1957

Time for a trip back to 1957, when things were fun, just the opposite of today. In this cartoon, Woody is on vacation and gets annoyed by a professor building a rocket ship near him...

Here's our little pal in Lost Wages, enjoying the sun. He's having a great time on his inner tube until it sounds like a jack hammer going to town near him!

What the heck! Someone's working on a big old rocket ship in the desert there!..

It's a nutty professor, ready to take off for a trip to Mars! Yeah, good luck pal.

Woody takes his inner tube, attaches it to the rocket, then puts the tube around a giant boulder, which pulls the rocket back down, causing it to crash into the ground! Woody puts on a space helmet and pretends to be a Martian!!

Woody does his best impression of a Martian, and the professor falls for it.

Our devious little pest offers the professor a drink, but it's freaking rocket fuel...

Like, which way did he go, George?!

Woody plays another prank on the professor, he gets his mechanical Martian out and walks it around. The professor thinks he's finally captured the little trouble maker...

But Woody has other plans! He throws the switch on the transformer, and, zap-a-roonie!!

C'mon, you gots to has a exploding cigar to round out the laffs!

The professor climbs a tree while chasing Woody, only to be shot into the air after our hero ropes the top of the tree, pulls it down to the ground and cuts the line!

Woody tells the professor that he can get him back to Earth, so, they get inside a rocket and are ready blast off!

But, they're on a ride at Dizzyland, bringing our story to a fun end! Tune in tomorrow as Eegah!! gets ready for another Saturday installment, here at The Dungeon!!..

NEW WAVE THEATRE - "The Peter Ivers Show" (1982)

"New Wave Theatre" was a low-budget high-energy Musical variety show that was on the air in L.A. in 1982-1983. Because of the quality of the bands, the show was later shown on "Night Flight" on the U.S.A. Network!

The host was an amazing musician named Peter Ivers who among his many credits, was asked by David Lynch to write a song for his movie "Eraserhead" in 1976. The resulting tune was titled "In Heaven (The Lady In The Radiator Song.")
Peter Ivers is probably one of the most interesting people you never heard of, and Lord Litter recently did a mini-tribute to him on his Magic Music Box radio show where you can hear some of his cool harmonica playing and kookie song writing!

"New Wave Theatre" was a series of live songs introduced by Peter, with some jokey stuff in between. This was episode number twenty-two, out of a total of twenty-five, and the first band up was FEAR, featuring the always lovable Lee Ving!

The killer song FEAR performs was titled "New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones!"

"New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones" was on this 1982 disc call "The Record," and featured Derf Scratch on Sax!

The next band up was called The Rayonics and featured Madeline Ridley on vocals!

The Rayonics kind of reminded me of a 1980's Jefferson Airplane, and they were also on episode 19.

It sounded to me like Peter introduced their song as "Where Are You Now That Love Is Gone," but the only record I can find that they ever made was this  cover of "Walk Away Renee."

Their single release was shaped like a circular saw blade and commands a pretty hefty price on Discogs!

The gags weren't much better the ones on our public access TV show "Offbeat!"

Look, it's 1982, and Peter has a mask on! That's how far ahead of the game this guy was!

The third band of the evening was called Powertrip, and they performed a song called "Lab Animal."

Powertrip was fronted by Jeff Dahl, and the background singers were Cat and Kathleen!

"Lab Animal" was released on this 7" EP in 1982!

The next band was called Carnival Of Souls, and I cannot find out anything about this band at all.
I think this song was introduced as "Sally's Not Breathing!"

Do an internet search for Carnival Of Souls, and you'll find out there was of course the classic movie of the same name, a 90's German band, and the title of a KISS album, but nothing about this gal!

The fifth band was called Red Wedding.

The song they perform is called "All (Dressed Up), and is on this 1982 mini-album called "Up And Down The Aisle."

Last but not least was a group called Marvin And The Paramounts!

Marvin And The Paramounts play a rockin' song called "Can't Stop A Train."
This was the only 45 I could find by Marvin And The Paramounts, and "Can't Stop A Train" is not on it, but some guy has one of these and wants $298.69 + postage for it!
I like to think I know a lot about music, but out of these five bands, the only one I had heard of before was FEAR!

"New Wave Theatre" stopped abriptly at episode 25, when they found Peter Ivers murdered in his apartment, which to this day is still an unsolved crime!

ULTRAMAN / "5 Seconds Before The Big Explosion" - 1966

Have you guys noticed that Eegah!! basically enjoys highbrow stuff whereas I like lowbrow crap! That's what makes us a great team!.. In today's little whacked out episode, a rocket accidentally loses its cargo and the Science Patrol is sent to investigate when one of the nuclear bombs goes missing. They find it attached to a giant sea creature rampaging near a seaside resort and Ultraman faces off against the unwelcome varmint!

Wow, that's one colorful rocket! It has six nuclear bombs on board that're on their way to Jupiter for some freaking experiment there!.. GFL!

Of course the rocket crashes into the sea and one of the bombs goes off and causes a tsunami in that area...

The Science Patrol's commander shows his guys how to locate and recover the missing bomb, four were found already but that fifth one must be accounted for!

Then, a big old sea monster shows up, apparently mutated to giant size from the radiation of the bomb that went off... How ridiculous, it's just been a few days since the explosion!!

The damn thing creeps around and finds one of kids being watched by the female Science Patrol member. The monster sticks its hand into the room and tries to get the girl, but the boy (also being watched by the Science Patrol lady) grabs a butter knife and stabs the monster's finger, causing it to pull its arm out of the room. It tends to its boo boo, and the wound seems to hurt like Hell, and now it's very, very angry! How stupid! The freaking thing is a hundred feet tall, how bad could a stab from a butter knife be to something that size?!! Just plain stupid!

The Science Patrol sends in it's jet plane to mess with the monster. Love the look on it's face!! Anyway, it blows the plane out of the sky with like I guess, it's bad breath. The second still shows the thing watching the pilot parachute to the ground! Cracks me up, man!

Now, this blew my mind... Brainiac tells the commander to have some music played because monsters ALWAYS either like to dance or become catatonic when it's played! Wow, bold claim! The commander agrees and tells whoever's in charge to play some music very loud to pacify the intruder.

Well, a military vessel is brought in to play music over a loud speaker... As the boat gets closer to the over sized mud skipper, we hear the music... Oh my god, it is the most insane, grating, horrible combination of Dixieland and honky-tonk I've EVER heard!!! It felt surreal.. Hey, do yourself a favor and go watch this episode on You Tube and check it out! What's even cooler is, leave a comment after viewing, that way, I'll know if I'm crazy or not...

So, what do you think the monster does?.. Right, it goes insane and starts tearing the crap out of stuff. And that's how I reacted too, go check it out, it's unbelievable!!

It's time to put the gloves on, robo contra monster!.. Okay, now what?

It's a little embarrassing to see our hero Ultraman eating a lot of dirt!

The bomb falls off the monster and rolls down the hill. Mr. Knucklehead there goes chasing after it, better hope it doesn't blow up in your face, what's wrong with you!!

Ultraman takes the brunt of the thing's toxic breath, right in the mush!

Butt in the end, Ultraman uses his secret weapon to deep six the monster, it plummets about 300 feet off a cliff and into the sea...

Then, Ultraman takes the nuclear bomb into space where it blows the Hell up, with just 5 seconds to spare!! So like, Eegah!! will be here Wednesday to give us more of the stuff, here at The Dungeon!
