REPTILICUS / American International Pictures - 1961

It's Monster Monday with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. It's also time for us to redo this flick from a previous post we did way back in 2008. Eegah!! and I saw this one at the theater in 1961 and thought it was fairly kitsch. We also saw ANGRY RED PLANET and JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET at the time too, two other movies produced by Sidney Pink. This story's about the tail of a prehistoric reptile that's discovered in Denmark, it regenerates into an entire reptile that then proceeds to destroy buildings, scare people, eat livestock and it even spits deadly green acid!! I had and read the paperback novel that came out before the movie did, it actually had sex in it!..

Eegah!! sent over a soundclip with two musical segments from the movie, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there by the pink rubber dragon, NOW, Ralphie The Tarantula! Here's our audio offering for... REPTILICUS!

A field worker in Denmark digs this piece of flesh out of the drill bit they're using. Okay, bring in the scientists.

The tail's taken to the science institute where they keep it frozen to preserve it. And, it must be kept exactly at this temperature, got it?!!

Doofus provides the comic relief, here, he sticks his finger in a tank of electric eels! I love his attire. Speaking of attire, I just rewatched DAUGHTER OF DR. JEKYLL over the weekend, John Agar's striped jacket totally ruined that movie for me again, it's so goddamn ridiculous looking. I mean, seriously, WTF!!

Here's Birthe Wilke belting out "Trivoli Nights" for the audience at this popular Copenhagen nightclub, as heard in the soundclip...

This absent minded professor's at the science institute on a stormy night. After Reptilicus breaks out and destroys the building that night, all they find is his glasses on the floor! This shot reminds me of working on my comic art late at night, when I used to do that.

At certain angles and distances, Reptilicus looks pretty cool!

This effect where Reptilicus eats a farmer is so crude that I'm not even sure how they did it!

They bring in the flame throwing tanks to see if Reptilicus can take the heat! You can see it spitting green acid at the soldiers.

Then they drop depth charges on its ass when it tries to recover underwater from the burns, and, blow off one of its legs. At the end of the movie, they show this leg regenerating into another monster, a leg with an eyeball!!

Just a a few laffs before these two doomed beach goers get covered in corrosive green slime!.. Why in the Hell would anyone in their right mind go to the beach when they knew Reptilicus was hiding there?

Susan and Mary Test are brought in to come up with a chemical formula of doom for the almost unstoppable monster.

They load it into a bazooka shell and General Grayson fires it into the throat of Reptilicus, bringing its reign of terror to an end.. But, don't forget about the leg under the sea!

CAPTAIN CELLULOID VS.THE FILM PIRATES - Adventure Pictures (1966)

"Captain Celluloid Vs.The Film Pirates" was a fan based silent movie in the style of the good old fashion serials! It was made in 1966 and is a film that's all about questions, and more questions, like Why? Why did they do it?

The movie's intentions are honorable no doubt, but question number one, is that enough?

There is no doubt in my mind that the Firesign Theater's 1979 film titled "J-Men Forever" was totally inspired by this low budget film!

Pre-video, pre-internet, here's the inspired plot in a krazy nutshell!!

Basically nobody in this film ever acted again, including Robert Clayton here as Larry (The Man Of) Steele! He was also the writer and producer of this film!

Two classic names in one person, Doris and Dale, but Chip and Dale ended up with a lot more fame and fortune!

Born in Oakland, and died in New York, Alan played himself in a 1974 documentary called Busby Berkeley!

This was Barney's only acting gig, but his son, Vic Noto has had, and continues to have, a decent career as tough guy actor! If we ever remake this movie, we'll get Mark Del Rio for this role!

Was this John Cullen's sole acting credit? That would be correct! You get three points!

After her debut here as Satanya, Jean Barbour went on to do, well.............nothing!!

Al Kilgore also worked in the art department of the 1985 documentary, "Document Of The Dead!" His last name was subsequently arrested for making death threats on ex Vice President Al Gore!

Did Grant Willis ever work again? Yes, as an audience member in the movie "Love Story," and as production manager for a film called "Submission!"

William K. Everson actually ended up banging around for a few years as film advisor and consultant before biting the big one in 1996!

The identity of The Master Duper remains a mystery to this day! Is it possible that he was actually a big name talent incognito? Possible but doubtful!!!

Last but not least, Robert Steele did double duty as Robert Clayton and the mysterious masked man Captain Celluloid! One last question, do I have a near mint, only played almost once DVD of this movie for sale for $6.00 including postage in the United States? The answer is an overwhelming YES!!!!

THE GIANT BEHEMOTH / Artistes Alliance Ltd. - 1959

It's Friday Fright with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. We gots a redo post from 2008 of this very decent little British produced flick, the story's about underwater atomic tests that cause changes in the ocean's ecosystem, resulting in blobs of radiation and the rebirth of a huge dormant creature.

Eegah!! sent over a soundclip from this movie for our enjoyment, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there next to the atomic fish tank, NOW, Rufus The Gnat! Here's our audio offering for... THE GIANT BEHEMOTH!

No telling how many fifties and sixties horror and sci-fi flicks used atomic testing as the real culprit in the story, I won't attempt to even start a list of them. Hell, we were still doing atomic underground testing in US deserts during the Reagan years!

Here's Gene Evans as American research scientist, Steve Karnes. Gene can be seen in another film directed by Eugene Lourie, SHOCK CORRIDOR, playing a childish egghead in a mental hospital who likes to hide under chairs and do other weird stuff.

This old salt has a deadly run in with the radio active Behemoth, then, a radio active blob washes onto the shore and causes radiation burns on that idiot's hand when he 'accidently' touches it, was ein dummkoph!!

The USDA inspects this glowing flounder, I see no problem here.

Now, that's what I call a footprint!

The Behemoth makes its way into london and burns the fleeing citizens with radiation!

The creature toasts these Army dudes like crispy critters!

Some nice looking shots of the Behemoth, notice the rope lines on the model car as it's released from the monster's mouth!

When this submarine pilot pushes that lever down, an atomic device will completely destroy the Behemoth, once and for all!..
