THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES / San Mateo Productions - 1955

Welcome everbloody to Friday Frights with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon... Tonite we gots the first ARC picture from Nicholson/Arkoff, filmed in desolate Indio, CA, with a whopping $23,000 budget, Roger Corman is executive producer! BTW... Roger has produced 395 projects to date!

As far as I'm concerned, this story was stolen from an EC comic written and illustrated by Al Feldstein from about 1953. It goes like this... A space craft lands in the California desert. Then, the alien creature inside takes over the minds of some local humans and animals and is able to control their actions, including, using them to create terror. He 'sees' through their eyes, get it?

The artwork used during the credit roll is awesome, the artist did more of the same for other Corman flicks including BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE, IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, NOT OF THIS EARTH and ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS. If anybloody knows the name of the artist, please leave a comment! In the bottom still, you see that Jonathan Haze was production manager. A year earlier, Jonathan had a part as the Mexican fisherman in the Corman flick, MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR.

The maniacal, beat your brains out theme music is by John Bickford. Now, get this... This was the only film he ever worked on! But, you will notice in later Corman movies that the same manical, beat your brains out theme music is replicated time and time again even with their other composers.

Now it's time to bring in that fuzzy wuzzy lil' Dungeon hunchback freek, Ralphie The Tarantula. Ralphie walked all the way from over there (6 in tarantula miles) to push the big red 'GO' button once again and begin our Eariffic Earclip for... THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES!

Narration and voice of the Beast is by Bruce Whitmore, and, is the only movie he ever worked on!

Having a date farm in Indio isn't exactly wifey's idea of living... Here's Paul Birch and Lorna Thayer as Allan and Carol Kelley, she's going a bit stir crazy, being so far away from civilization and all...

Here's... 'Him!'

Guess what 'Him' likes?... 'Him', the deaf-mute helper, usually walks around with a scowl on his face and an axe in his hand!

'Him' also likes to watch teenage daughter, Sandra, go skinny dipping in the river!.. Jus' kidding, she has a one-piece bathing suit on!

As the space craft lands in a nearby sand dune, the loud sonic sound destroys a few of Carol's priceless treasures as it passes overhead!

Allen hops in his '41 Ford Woody and drives over to see if his neighbor, Ben, is okay, since the phone lines are down. Ben is played by Chester Conklin, Chester ended up with a whopping 306 screen credits!!

'41 Ford Woody shout out to Dungeon pal, Teddy 'Bar', since he used to own one of them thar critters!

The family dog goes out to the sand dunes and finds the ship, and after receiving instructions form The Beast goes back home and attacks Carol! So, she has to kill it!

Loved those wind spinners when I was a little one!

Ben tells his cow, Sherry, to behave herself, right before she comes out of the barn and mows him down!

I put this still up to show what dressed up style for teenage girls looked like in 1955!

Another surprise, that's Dick Sargent as Deputy Larry Brewster, right before 'Him' clobbers him from the back seat! Larry is Sandra's boy friend.

'Him' defies The Beast and pays with his life.

The Beast works on Allan and Carol, but they fight back, now united as one, not afraid of the powerful force it's able to impose on their minds. Finally, The Beast falls over... Dead!

They watch as the space craft shoots back into space, never to be seen again, conquered by the simplest of things, good old love!

Ghoulnight Everbloody!!..

THE KARATE KILLERS / Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer - 1967

We're closing in on the end of 2014, so, here's my last post of the year... It stars the Men From U.N.C.L.E. in one of their movie offshoots from their popular TV series. It also features a slew of actors in cameo roles and the sixties pop group, Every Mother's Son, doing their hit tune "Come On Down To My Boat" as heard in the sound clip.

Eegah!! sent over a little sound clip from this flick for our earjoyment, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button located there by our killer karate chopping robot, NOW, Ralphie The Tarantula!.. Here's a taste of... THE KARATE KILLERS!

Our boys are down in the lab preparing fruit smoothies before they hit the old spy trail...

Here they are with their boss, Alexander Waverly, played Leo (TARANTULA and TOPPER) G. Carroll, they're going over the latest data on world events.

Herbert Lom is the bad guy, he wants something Joan Crawford has. Joan probably worked for half a day on this one, she turns up dead rather quickly at the beginning.

Jeez, what can you say about this guy here?! Can you believe that Telly's holding a cigarette instead a Tootsie Pop?.. Well, I can't!

You see, movies gave the guys a chance to hang out with a near nude chick while they race around, something they definitely couldn't do on the TV series!

Then, there's the club scene where Every Mother's Son is playing their hit song for the crowd.

Here's a goofy fun pic showing Illya after he gets knocked into the fountain!

Part of the Bad Guy Crew is this dressed-in-all-black motorcycle gang of maniacs.

Illya is always getting himself into some harrowing situation! Will Napoleon be able to save him before he gets one on those spikes stuck in his skull?!!.. Gee, I wonder.

I've included this still because when I was stationed at Fort Lewis in 1968 I drove one of these Ford Econoline vans around.

The dial, simple, yet efficient!.. EVERYBODY RUN!!

The plot's all about creating gold through a chemical equation, but, we all know gold can only be created by a Super Nova explosion. Besides, if we could all make gold, it'd be worthless!

Oops!!.. You know, something always goes wrong with those damn gold making machines!

Dustin Rhodes makes a cameo appearance as Gold Dust as we draw the curtain on this production...

Be back on Wednesday when Eegah!! will present our last post o' the year!

BLOOD TIDE / Connaught International - 1982

Welcome everbloody, to another installment of SATURDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS! here at the Dungeon! Today's feature stars James Earl (Darth Vader's voice) Jones, José (DRACULA'S DOG) Ferrer, Martin (DEATH RACE 2000) Kove and the stunning beauty, Deborah Shelton, who did a ton of TV roles.

The plot goes... "An adventurer hunting for treasure in Greece accidentally frees a monster that forces local villagers to sacrifice virgins."

The two real problems with this flick is that it's boring as hell and you never get a good look at the monster! An ancient drawing of the creature shows it's big bobo, so maybe that's the reason! Also, this was the only film ever produced by Connaught International.

Music is by Jerry Mosely, who had a spectacular career with a total of 2 composing credits! The other one was FRIGHTMARE...

Okay, Ralphie the Tarantula transfer to Tabonga mental message and he say that he ready to send our Eariffic Earclip to viewing and listening audience! I think he mean you... So, that little hairy tarantula ped hittin' the big red 'GO' button wonst again, here's... BLOOD TIDE!

Neil and Sherry Grice go to a strange Greek island, looking for his missing sister.

James Earl plays Frye, a total drunken unpredictable ass!

They find Neil's sister, Madeline, but she seems to be involved in some strange behavior!

The perfect beach candy for Tabonga, girlie flavored!

Nothing better than exercising to tunes on the radio!.. Hey, what are those guys looking at?

She thinks the dudes are watching her for the skin...

But, they just want to see if the monster is going to get her!

They weren't disappointed!

Frye keeps on being a big prick!

Awesome pose of James Earl!

Caravan with a drum solo or Greek Teen Beat?

Whoa!.. Tabonga just see an angel!

KA-EFFIN' BLOOIE!!!

Goodbye, everbloody! See you tomorrow when Eegah!! bring you Saturday Surprise!
