POJECT: POTEMKIN - "Duty Bound" (2014)

This job doesn't come with a lot of perks, but we've made contact with a lot of cool people over the years, and every once in a while we'll get something special in the mail, and that's where tonight's feature comes into play! Welcome to Wednesday down in The Dungeon and a very special project, by a bunch of special people!

"Project: Potemkin" is going to be a two part post for me! The first part is an 8 minute introductory to The Project! "Do you measure up to what you aspire to be?"

"Project: Potemkin" was sent to me by a very industrious cat named Randall Landers, and from what I see, it's not based upon "Star Trek," it's based on a love for "Star Trek!"

That "Star Trek" love comes on pretty strong! "Project: Potemkin" is a self-admitted fan made "Star Trek" series! For the real lowdown, head on over to their website, and be prepared to see talent persevere over expense accounts! These people do it because they love it, they have a good time, and it shows!

And the cool thing is that while they are having a good time, they are very serious about what they are doing at the same time!

The music in "Project: Potemkin" was written by Steve Gallant! The theme was written by Andrew Morgan Smith!

I'm not sure what the exact budget for this project was, because I don't think they had one at all, but what they were able to accomplish with no backing is pretty damn amazing!

Jeffrey Green has the role of Captain Alec Grigory! I like his delivery! Unlike some fan projects, a lot of these fans like Jeffrey, are also legitimate actors!

How do you get special effects like this without any money? Sweat and innovation!!

Randall Landers' daughter Kim as the Navigator is the only person who gets killed in this attack!

Sara Higgins Mackenzie is Yeoman Ziandra Yanari, Trill! Nobody called her up to bat, but she steps up to the plate and hits a home run!

The Captain doesn't understand how this meek and uncompelling creature could just take over and save the day! Is it because she has ants running across her face!?!

Wow! Great looking shot of the spacecraft!

Deep down inside, the Captain is glad she saved the day, but as Captain he still feels compelled to chew her ass out for not following official protocol!

Showing the back of the DVD case is a lot easier than writing out all the credits!

Okay, so that was just a teaser, I'll be back on Saturday to finish up my "Project: Potemkin" saga with a full-length episode called "The Night The Stars Fell From The Sky!" Until then, Shalom!!

You should check out "Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning". Made by a bunch of Finnish friends, it parodies both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Babylon 5....
