Welcome everbloody, to our Friday Night Frights, here at The Dungeon!..
Tabonga can say, unequivocally even, that this flick has the best title of any monster movie, ever, in the history of recorded time! ...MONSTER!!.. 'Nuf said?!
So, here's Greg and Janie on their first date. He was just getting ready to play her a hot tune with his guitar when this all happened...
But, you know, that's how monster movies usually start!
Tagline reads... "Buried in the mud of countless centuries - something has begun to grow..." Wow, scary!
Alternate titles are MONSTROID, IT CAME FROM THE LAKE, MONSTER, THE LEGEND THAT BECAME A TERROR, THE TOXIC HORROR and TOXIC MONSTER!!
The music was by Mr. Gene Kauer, he has 36 composing credits that include... THE ASTOUNDING SHE-MONSTER, GIRL WITH AN ITCH, THE CAPE CANAVERAL MONSTERS, THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS, MONSTROSITY, FORTRESS OF THE DEAD, AGENT FOR H.A.R.M., SWAMP GIRL and FACES OF DEATH!!
Welp, it's time to bring in that furry little 6-eyed freek, Ralphie The Tarantula, he's gonna be pushin' that big red 'GO' button over there... to the left... right, that big red 'GO' button, yes, correct... Anywho, here comes the... MONSTER!
Wow, check it out, it's Granny Goose!!.. What you got in the bag, Goose?!
Philip Carey was also in these TV series... TALES OF THE 77th BENGAL LANCERS, PHILIP MARLOWE, CHEYENNE, 77 SUNSET STRIP, LAREDO and KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER!
This is the news bitch Phil refers to with his flippant corporate diatribe in the soundclip.
The monster could come out of the lake and kill us at any second, so, I'm gonna have a dance with my beautiful daughter, Jaunita!..
Here's Dungeon Favorite, Anthony Eisley, and Robert's lil' bro, James Mitchum. Tony (real name, Fred) has been in classics like THE WASP WOMAN, THE NAKED KISS, THE NAVY vs THE NIGHT MONSTERS, JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF TIME, THE MUMMY AND THE CURSE OF THE JACKELS, THE MIGHTY GORGA, THE WITCHMAKER, DRACULA vs FRANKENSTEIN and DEEP SPACE!
Just love this still, that's all.
Here's a pretty grim portrait of John, but, he still had 35 more credits after this one!! What a man.
Science at work, even as you sleep... Look at the cool face in the radar scope!
Whut-zit... To-yah!!..
James got the lead role because he was willing to get in the water... What a dope!!
Tony didn't get top billing, but, he got to ride in the helicopter!!
Rubbernecker City!
Can you believe this, dude's directing traffic on the lake! But really, he's actually hitting the infernal thing with the oar!!
These are the two best looking stills of the lake creature, it actually looks decent!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
KA-EFFIN-BLOOIE and a half!!!
See you in Hell, you mean old monster, you!
As John thanks God for the victory, you can really notice how bad his hands look from all the surgery! They show them up closer at times, it didn't seem to bother him, though!
Ghoulnight Everbloody!!..

kill the News Bitch please!
Nice classic!
Like helicopter footage? Enjoy being mildly confused? Incapable of ever being bored? Jim Mitchum completist? Well, you'll love this one!
Thanx Cliff! That's a perfectly clear and concise description in four sentences!
Saw this as MONSTEROID (1980)
It actually started shooting in 1971, and several stops and starts later wrapped in 1979.
Kenneth Hartford took directors credit, but Anthony Eisley said Herbert L. Strock directed pretty much everything and Hartford only directed a short sequence in Griffith Park.
