Welcome to Monster Monday with Tabonga, here at The Dungeon!.. Tonite we gots another blob flick, this one from 1985 starring Michael Moriarty, Garrett Morris and Patrick O'Neal.
This idiot picks some stuff off the ground and starts eating it!.. Him and his buddy like it so much that they decide to market it. It becomes a new dessert sensation known as the Stuff, but of course, it takes over the brains of the ones who eat it, turning them into some kind of zombies. It's up to ex-FBI agent David Rutherford and some kid named Jason to stop the spread of the mind-devouring substance.
The music's by Anthony Guefen, who had a total of 11 composing credits that include SISTERS OF SATAN, DEADLY EYES and EUFORIA.
So, lettuce bring in our littlest Dungeon helper and cool cat, right... Rufus The Gnat!.. By the look of the gong on the wall, it's time to start our Eariffic Earclip! Hit that big red 'GO' button there, Rufus, here's... THE STUFF!
Sorry about the poor quality of the stills, another lousy ep VHS transfer...
Best way to sell a product, to the best of anybloody's knowledge, is and will always be... Gurlz!!
The shit's effin' tasty, dude!!
Here's Michael and Garrett as ex-FBI agent 'Mo' Rutherford and 'Chocolate Chip' Charlie W. Hobbs!
Just like this shot, that's all... Actually, these guys protect The Stuff!
All natural ingredients, just bubbles up out of the ground! And, it's totally irresistible!
Weird things are going on at the old Star Lite Motel, whoa, blob on the wall!
Told ya, bubbles up out of the ground!
'Mo' steals a truck and pays Colonel Malcolm Grommett Spears a visit to inform him of what's going on with The Stuff. The Colonel is played by the talented Paul Sorvino.
The good guys attack (led by a woman in a dress) and clobber the bad guys!
Then, 'Chocolate Chip' shows everbloody that he's been eating The Stuff, too!
Shades of Carpenter's THE THING!
Jason is always getting into and causing a peck of trouble, sometimes you wish The Stuff would just get him!
Leave it up to 'Mo' though, he really comes through!
At the end, Patrick O'Neal and his pal are forced at gunpoint to eat cartons and cartons their own shit!
Ghoulnight Everbloody!!..

You're amazing.
Thanks, Z!
Wow, I remember that movie. Gotta love New World Pictures..
I worked in a video store when that movie was released and recall getting a container of "The Stuff" as a promo item. it dried up quickly and the container got mildewed due to some other issues.
But it was a fun thing. Thanks for bringing those memories back.
