SLEDGE HAMMER! - 'Trust Me, I Know What I'm Doing" (1986)

I think it's about time for a Sledge Hammer Saturday Night Special, and it took our German Correspondent Lord Litter to remind me, and I'm glad he did, because I had forgotten all about this outlandish 1980's TV series!

The very first episode of "Sledge Hammer!" was titled "Under The Gun."

David Rasche IS "Sledge Hammer," a man who knows how to get things done, a man who talks to his gun!
David is still working hard today and has at least three projects in post-production!

Awesome Anne-Marie (Prom Night) Martin is Dori Doreau, Sledge Hammer's new partner!
This show was the last of acting for Anne-Marie, who gave it all up to pursue her true love, horseback riding!

In Sledge Hammer's world, there is only one way to get things done, and it always includes firearms!

The Mayor's daughter has been kidnapped, and although Sledge Hammer is currently on suspension, he is brought back on the job, because just maybe it's going to take something, or somebody unorthodox to get her back!

Sledge Hammer doesn't care about rules, he just cares about getting the job done, no matter what it takes, or who gets in the way!

To say that "Sledge Hammer" is politically incorrect would be an understatement! I seriously doubt this show would have made it by today's standards, and that's what makes it so watchable and funny!

There's a sniper on the roof of this building, so Sledge Hammer blasts the whole damn thing to get to the guy!

Sledge Hammer knows how to deal with a defective vending machine.
Don't screw around, just shoot It!

Dori turns away for a moment and John Vernon who was also the Mayor in "Dirty Harry," Harrison (Supertrain) Page as The Chief, and Sledge Hammer all get caught checking her out!

The North Beach district of San Francisco was where the whole strip club phenomena started back in the 60's, and "Big Al's" and "The Condor Club" were two of the earliest!

Sledge Hammer has a very unique way of getting criminals to spill the beans!

This is the face of no mercy, and Sledge Hammer means it when he says.....
"Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"
And....you better believe it!

  2. You're Welcome. I was glad when Lord Litter reminded me about it myself. I had really forgotten about it, and I'm having a great time watching!

  3. David Rasche was an actor in the 1988 (released in theaters in early 1989) Larry Cohen movie, WICKED STEPMOTHER, starring Bette Davis. I was a low-level FX grunt on the location set for a couple of weeks, filming in a Bel Air, CA mansion. Mr. Rasche was just about the nicest of the actors in the film, IMHO. I was busy taking reference photos of the house for the FX shop, and between scenes, he came over to me, introduced himself, asked me my name, and shook my hand. Wow, I had seen some of his work, didn't really know him, but I was surprised and impressed that he went out of his way to come over and say hello to me. So yeah, I'm basically a fan of this guy for life.

  4. Great story Kev. Good to know that David Rasche's really a nice guy, because he sure does do a good job of acting crazy!

  5. On that set, Rasche was cool, Richard Moll from NIGHT COURT was okay, Coleen Camp was okay, but the film's writer-director Larry Cohen was great and (mostly) mellow and funny. (RIP, Larry Cohen!)
