BLOOD OF DRACULA - Jerry Blaine - "Puppy Love" (1957)

Probably one of the other 'most famous' Monster Movie hit teen songs was this catchy little number from the 1957 horror, "Blood oF Dracula." Once again, despite the odds in some unbelievably horrible situation happening somewhere, there's still time to throw in a little Pop song, almost like a Renoir film, all happy and sad at the same time. Look at that mug, could you sing about Puppy Love knowing that face was out there? Written and performed by Jerry Blaine, if you've never heard it before, the wait is over, you can now move on and get your own copy.

  1. Not to be confused with the Paul Anka tune -- which was later remade by -- gag -- DONNY OSMOND!

  4. Does anyone have biographical info on Jerry Blaine? There seems to be very little online. I'm curious what happened to him later. I read somewhere that he died in his mid-thirties, but have no idea how.

  5. Good luck finding out more info on Jerry Blaine, all I know is that he passed away March 14, 1973 at the age of 36 in Long Island, New York. Why or how seems to be a mystery!

  6. You are all wrong. Reports of his death are greatly exaggerated and completely false. He is ill now, but has been making a very good living working as a pianist for a cruise line. I saw him last year, and he gave me the name of this movie, which a friend found for me online.
He is still the greatest jazz pianist I’ve ever seen in person, and a great man. This illness probably means he’s retiring, but at last check he was alive and kicking. I’ve never seen a man his age with such energy! I think he might be my very favorite man on the planet, with the exception of my family, of course!
He is listed in the imdb database if you want more information - but there’s still not much!

I consider Jerry a good friend, and he has let me know he feels the same! I hope to get the opportunity to cruise with him again, for the fifth time. We spent a solid month together, as well as shorter cruises. Please join me in hoping for a complete recovery for him!

  8. Oh, and “We were out on a date in my daddy’s car / we hadn’t driven very far…” is from Last Kiss by Wayne Cochran, not Puppy Love
