DIE BANDE DES SCHRECKENS - Heinz Funk - "The Terrible People" (The Gang Of Terror) (1960)

Just got back from seeing Steely Dan in Vegas, what a great concert!! I highly recommend seeing them if they come to your area, you will not be disappointed, but now it's time for another edition of the Saturday night Edgar Wallace Special, this week featuring "Die Bande Des Schreckens!"

"Die Bande Des Schreckens" basically translates to "The Gang Of Terror!" How that ever got changed into "The Terrible People" is way beyond my comprehension! Terror = Terrible I guess! Somebody call the Marketing Department!

Otto Collin as Mr. Shelton is about to pay for his sins, but even as a dying man, he threatens the lives of all those who brought him down! One by one, they all must pay, and pay they will, dearly with their lives!

But first, it's Mr. Shelton's turn to face the the music, and that music was composed by Heinz Funk! Most of these German Edgar Wallace films had music by the great Peter Thomas, but Heinz Funk filled in on a couple of them quite nicely! Besides this film, Heinz wrote the score for "Dead Eyes Of London," and "The Green Archer!" Heinz Funk passed away in March of this year at the ripe age of 97!

Can it possibly be true? Does the claw still live?

The chief inspector in charge of putting all the pieces together is once again played by Dungeon Fave Joachim Fuchsberger! Normally I'm totally gone over anything that Joachim does, but in this movie, I'm not really fond of whoever they got to dub Joachim's voice into English, so it's kind of a deal breaker, but I got over it, and so will you!

Eddie Ardent is back on board for the comedy relief as Anthony Edwards, the photographer with the weak stomach!

Here's the revenge shopping list with the names of all those who are pegged for removal!

What a super bad ass clock!

Dungeon sweetheart Karin Dor is Nora Sanders! You have got to admit, she could be channeling a little bit of  Lucille Ball with this look and outfit! Karin is still working today, and is in a movie in production right now called "Triple WixXx!"

Nora Sanders works for the extremely wealthy Mrs. Revelstoke as portrayed by Elisabeth Flickenschildt, who was also in a number of Edgar Wallace films like "The Inn On The River," "The Indian Scarf," and "Das Phantom Von Soho!"

Besides that very odd clock,  Mrs. Revelstoke's house is decorated with a fine assortment of weird masks and stuff!

Nora Sanders is a bit too trusting of some evil bastard who pretends to be a cop! Luckily Chief Inspector Young loves her as much as I do and will be there to rescue her in no time at all!

It appears that Mr. Shelton refuses to go away, dead or not!

This is one of the weirdest looking phones I have ever seen! I call it the low-profile cyclops, and I want one!!

When the address is 13, don't forget to knock three times and tell them Joe sent you, and if nobody answers the door, run like Hell!

In my humble opinion, nobody looks better tied up than Karin Dor!

I just couldn't leave out this portrait of Karin framed by the stairway bannister!!

Chief Inspector Young makes a daring rescue, and at one point it seems that indeed his goose is finally cooked this time, but yet another miracle of Edgar Wallace's writing allows him to escape certain doom and walk off into the sunset with the girl of my dreams! "The Terrible People" is available from Sinister Cinema directly or through Amazon! Once again all I can say is, what are you waiting for, the end of the world?

THE OUTER LIMITS / The Children Of Spider County - 1964

Welp, it's time for more classic Sci-Fi TV with Tabonga, we just do what the control voice tells us to do, here at The Dungeon!..

Eegah!! just sent over this fun lil' soundclip that even has sound effects from THE WAR OF THE WORLDS in it, sooooo, you can push the big red 'GO' button there next to the giant cobweb, NOW, Rufus The Gnat! Here's our audio offering for... THE CHILDREN OF SPIDER COUNTY!

The story's kinda like VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED except this time, dad comes for a visit from space to convince his ET kids to leave Earth and go back with him to his planet to live. Of course, here, the CIA knows all about the superhuman kids since they've been monitoring them for years.

Looking down, we see that one ET kid is in jail waiting trial for murder, which was actually an accident and wasn't his fault.

Dad drops in from the void (what the Hell is he riding in, a big light bulb?) to see the results of his many manly genetic romps enjoyed years earlier. Wherever he's from, they don't wear shoes! Hey, better watch out for them hookworms, pal!

Cool composite shot with a negative effect!

This shot in the mill makes it look like the kid's still in jail! Kent Smith plays the alien dad, we also remember Kent from THE INVADERS.

Dabbs Greer plays a crusty old rifle toting farmer, but, he's no match for the superior intellect of the alien. We love Dabbs in IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE.

Space pops gives Dabbs a dose of extreme negativity... Goodnight, sweet Dabbs!

Wow, a good looking suit really makes the monster!

Anyway, a frustrated dad can't convince any of the kids to go back with him. Lee Kinsolving plays the main kid, Lee had a real classic look, but sadly, he developed a strange respiratory illness which, without warning, rendered him unconscious in December of 1974, he collapsed and died at the young age of 36.

Dad leaves in his butane powered spaceship and goes back to where he belongs!..

GOLDFACE, IL FANTASTICO SUPERMAN - Franco Pisano/Piero Umiliani - "Nadie Podía Salvar A La Humanidad En Peligro Excepto Él. Ni Todo Un Ejército Podía Contra Su Voluntad Y Su Fuerza. Por Eso Era Llamado... El Fantástico Superman" (1967)

I'm heading to Vegas to see Steely Dan on Friday, so I need to get some work done here, so without further delay, here's part three of my trilogy of golden films, "Goldface, The Fantastic Superman!"  Wait a minute, I don't remember any cool Dodge Valiants in this movie! What's this poster artiste think he can get away with anyhow?

"Goldface, Il Fantastico Superman" is just about as ridiculous as you could possibly imagine, and quite possibly, maybe even a little more! I guess that's what makes it almost great, but not quite!

"Goldface has got BIG Matthews in it, what the Hell more could you possibly want out of a movie than that?

AND.... LOTHAR and the Wrestling Champions of Caracas! Obviously, they had some bigtime money to blow on this production, and it shows! Just in case you're a little confused, don't get this Lothar confused with the lead singer in that awesome 60's band, Lothar and the Hand People! Speaking of, the music in "Goldface, Il Fantastico Superman" was written by Franco (How to Kill 400 Duponts) Pisano, and the Maestro Piero Umiliani, whom we've written about many times before as the composer of the Über classic Muppets tune "Mahna Mahna!!!"

This is probably what Goldface would have looked like if the costume department had for than a dollar three eighty to spend!

This is Espartaco Garibaldi Borga Santoni as the Doctor! Shhhh! Don't tell anybody, but he is also secretly Goldface! Espartaco was only in 20 movies, but what a line up they are! Titles like "Exorcism's Daughter," "Feast of Satan," "Raise Your Hands, Dead Man, You're Under Arrest," "Lisa and the Devil," and "Torrente, El Brazo Tonto De La Ley!" Espartaco moved on to higher ground in 1998!

Here's just one of the many nameless "Champions Of Caracas!"

So here's the deal, Goldface is not only a crime fighting super hero, he's also a top notch wrassler!

The legions of Goldface's fans include a number of beautiful women, who have never figured out that wrasslin' is fake!

I'm assuming, because that's all that I can do, that this is Big Matthews as Goldface's sidekick! There's not much to find out about Big, because he was only in two movies, this one, and a Turkish/Italian film called "Lo Scoiattolo," but this guy IS big, and he's one of the few people in the movie that don't really look Italian!

Here's a cool shot from the Royale Rumble that Goldface wins without any problems at all!

During the Royale Rumble, this German journalist tries to take ringside advantage when Goldface is down, to ask him how he feels about German women! The guy behind her was a wrassler known as Jack The Ripper!

This is just to show you the difference between men and women's vices!

It's really hard to get good action footage screen shots, but this IS a good one from the rumble!

Honestly, Goldface has got one of the most pathetic costimes ever! Check out the cheapass GF directly underneath his collar! As tough as he may be, this is not really a look that commands a lot of respect!

If wrasslin' seems like nothing but a joke to you, just remember that back in the 50's, the biggest reason people bought TVs was because they wanted to see Gorgeous George in action on the mat!

I'd give Tabonga's left root to have this poster! Vampire Negro and The Sons of Quasimodo, Hell Yeah!!

This shot leaves me speechless!!!

One of Godface's super powers is that he is able to climb trees and spy on chicks! You're jealous, aren't you?

The whole movie is based on Goldface's battle with Cobra! Here Cobra's number two get what's coming to her!! "Goldface, Il Fantastico Superman" is yet another film supplied to us for your pleasure from Brian at The Trash Palace!" Please do yourself, me, and him a favour, and visit his site! I guarantee if you dig these weird old films, you're in for the time of your life, and pick up a Ubangi's CD while you're at it! UNGAWA!!!
